Man taking the order was a little curt, but wasn't rude. It's an order at the counter place with a couple tables. We wanted to eat there so sat down, but the tables were broken and covered in tape and the chairs were worn out. Multiple people came in to pick up to-go orders and we probably just should have done that. Additionally, the area the restaurant is in was a little run down and there were lots of people loitering around.

This is a take-out ONLY operation, not unusual for many Chinese restaurants. The food portions are large and very tasty. I had Mongolian Beef and Hot and Sour Soup. Both were among the best I've ever had. Don't get spooked by the ambiance. You order through a plexiglass window and food is delivered from a small, one-way, door (like those used at banks). I suspect the area is a little sketchy after dark. Service was quick and the food was obviously fresh. The menu was quite extensive and showed several "specials" and "combo" meals. Prices are fair and attractive considering the substantial portions. I t'll be a staple on my next visit to Orangeburg, SC.

Hong Kong buffet review | Orangeburg, Sc…read more 2034 Columbia Rd, Orangeburg, SC 29118 3.4 out of 5 Stars Hong Kong Buffet - Orangeburg, SC From an influencer standpoint, Hong Kong Buffet delivers exactly what you expect from a small-town Chinese buffet -- and honestly, that's not always a bad thing. The good: Seating was quick, which is always a win when buffet hunger kicks in. No long waits, no awkward standing by the door wondering if someone forgot you. The buffet line was easy to access and stocked with all the usual crowd-pleasers: General Tso's chicken, honey chicken, coconut shrimp, and the familiar lineup you see at most Chinese buffets. Nothing exotic, but nothing missing either. Staff interaction was fine -- not overly warm, not rude -- just there to keep things moving. The not-so-good: This place is definitely showing its age. Seating and tables feel seriously dated, and the lighting is very dim -- borderline "romantic dinner" lighting, which isn't exactly what you expect when scooping lo mein. The restroom was a disappointment: not clean, with a toilet that wouldn't stop running. That's something that's hard to overlook. Food-wise, while it was fresh enough, some dishes leaned a little greasy, which can catch up to you by plate two. The bottom line: Hong Kong Buffet is the definition of typical Chinese buffet food. If you've had one, you've pretty much had them all. It's fast, familiar, and fills you up, but it's not a destination spot or a place that stands out from the crowd. Solidly average -- and that's exactly why it lands at a 3.4 out of 5 stars. @we_stayed_there on Tik Tok www.westayedthere.com

My usual lunch comsisted of a large sesame chicken and 2 egg rolls. The lady says 22.48. I doesn't take a math genius to figure out that's $12.99 plus $5 don't equal that. Come to find out, since I asked for fried rice which I've always done without issue, I was charged extra for fried rice. She says because the sesame chicken comes with white rice. Again this has never been an issue. So I'm thinking ok, if the food is as good, lesson learned. Well it's not. The breading in the chicken was soggy like it had sitting in something. Well from the taste, it's been sitting in sweet and sour sauce.... apparently for a while. ZERO sesame flavor. The rice isn't fried rice anymore. Looks and tastes like yellow rice. It's a shame.
