I watched reviews of this restaurant on Facebook for quite a while. I was disappointed that they were going on vacation and waited until they returned to make my first visit. According to Facebook and also on their website, they offered a variety of foods on different days and I chose Sunday. I was attracted by the carving station in particular and many other items that were listed. Morning of the day that I was to visit, there was again a Facebook ad listing the foods that would be available that day. When I arrived at the restaurant, they were very busy. There was a waiting period of about 30 minutes. I had to sit outside where it was extremely extremely hot and I was getting bit by bugs. Once inside, I was disappointed to see that there was no carving station and items listed in their advertisement on Facebook that morning and other days for Sunday, which included prime rib, ribs, ham, etc. we're not available In all approximately 90% of what had been listed that morning on Facebook as well as in previous ads for Sunday, were not available. The manager (who is also the cook) informed me that the carving station with prime rib etc., was available on Friday. He could not explain why it was listed in their ad for Sunday. I'd give this buffet 3.5 stars. We came for Friday lunch it was $17 a person which is a great price overall. There was a large selection of food, I feel like some of it was made with good quality ingredients and some of it was just kind of thrown together. The fried chicken, fried shrimp were all good.the cobbler was just thrown together. Low quality ice cream. Lots of options and choice. I would go back. Restrooms were kinda of a mess though, don't think they had great plumbing, I slipped on water! read more

Been twice now. There are plenty of options to choose from and everything is tasty. I love that it doesn't seem like it was poured out of box or pulled from a freezer - it feels like someone actually made it, which seems for more rare these days, especially for a buffet. It's not "cheap" but it is quality food and you eat until you're full & maybe then some. Had the same server both times and she was great! Always refilling the drinks before they were even empty. Went to this Southern Buffet a few weeks ago. Southern Food!!! It was very good. Restaurant was very clean and more upscale than other buffets. Get there early because limited seating and it fills up quick for lunch. The meatloaf is almost as good as my moms. I really couldn't find a bad thing on the buffet from the chicken, sides, desserts etc... If you want a good buffet in Orangeburg go to Paulines. Go hungry as well. read more

Not better than your kitchen. They also really stay on top of how much you put on your plate. It's standard fare that's not even homemade to the extent of fresh veggies. They use canned. Keep going to the grocery store & make it yourself. read more

I've visited Pauline's twice since being in Orangeburg. The food has been really good, and the vegetable offerings are Diabolical . The butter beans, the lima beans, the broccoli salad, the beets, the corn, rice, gravy. Was out of sight. For my protein, the first time I had chicken And meatloaf. My second visit I had the brisket, which was very, very tender and a little bbq sauce on the side with a fried chop. Now with the serving size of the to go tray, you can eat off this meal for two days. sweet tea, and lemonade was average And the owner, I assume the young lady who runs the register that could be Paula Dean instead of Pauline, kind of remind me of Pauline's restaurant in Savannah Georgia. Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Listen, I've been to this restaurant twice, the first time was back in April when I came down from Atlanta to look at houses because I was relocating to Orangeburg in June. And then this past Sunday, me and my Lil Sister went for dinner and I have to say it was better than the first time. Food and hospitality were AWESOME. Drove from Columbia with friends on a Saturday. We had 7 people and was taken care of during are time at lunch. I like collard greens and they was not homemade, but the other food was great, everyone in our group loved the food and atmosphere. We stayed 11/2 hours and had great time eating great food. This newest Restaurant is open in Orangeburg, South Carolina. It's calledPauline's . It opened in 2022. The ambience is a little retro and a little country. The decor is quite appealing. The hostess was very friendly and seated us very quickly. Our server Sarah was very attentive and friendly, just when you needed a refill on your iced tea or lemonade Sarah was right there. There were times while we were talking our empty plates were taken away without any of us noticing her taking them away. Now onto the food. Southern feast from Brisket to chicken to fried fish and pork chops pulled pork chopped barbecue chicken fried steak, to macaroni and cheese , mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing candied yams okra and tomatoes to lemon meringue pie chocolate cake banana pudding strawberry shortcake, and so much more. We went to this restaurant while staying a few days in Orangeburg. The restaurant is tucked away in a large shopping center; we had some difficulty finding it. The restaurant has an "all you can eat" menu featuring southern cooking. The menu changes each day and is available on line. Diners check in at an entryway desk and pay in advance for the meals. They can then be seated in the dining area. They were busy, and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. We visited on a seafood buffet night. Once at a table, diners are free to serve themselves at the buffet. Servers take beverage orders and clear used plates. The buffet had a large selection of items. There was a section with fried seafood. Other seafood included low country boil, shrimp, and salmon. There were a number of southern style vegetables. Other selections included salads and desert items. The staff kept busy keeping the food items stocked. The food was decent but not gourmet. All in all, the restaurant offers great value for those interested in an all you can eat experience. read more

Went with two other people last Saturday night (06/01/24) and all three of us loved the food. It's family style where you get three meats and five vegetables per table. We only ordered two meats - the battered pork chops and country fried steak - had we ordered a third entree, it would have been too much to eat. Pauline's is tucked into an old, practically abandoned mall, but don't let outside appearances fool you, this place is worth stopping by. And then stopping back by. We live 3 hours away and already plan to return. The owners of this restaurant obviously take pride in their business. The inside has been completely updated with a high end vibe and the greeters were friendly and accommodating. Then comes the food. It is served buffet style but is WAY beyond any buffet food I've ever had before. Every single dish was correctly seasoned and cooked. I felt like I was transported back to my grandmother's kitchen in 1980s Alabama. Just delicious. The dining room server stopped by often to keep our glasses filled with sweet tea. The downside is that I ate too much to be able to try any of the peach cobbler or banana pudding that I saw piled high on other people's plates. To the owners and employees I thank you for a delightful late lunch. To anyone else passing through, give this place a try if you love real Southern cuisine. read more

We went to Orangeburg for a HBCU basketball game on Feb 13 and the experience was not pleasant, we were not aware of the set so we preceded to the dining area,after understanding that it was buffet style,we started fixing our plates.After fixing our plates we were seated and eating.Out of no where this rude lady comes up and asked if we were ready to pay for our meals by card,so I was caught of guard because I never informed her that I was paying by card,I had c$sh,but I gave her a card to phycilitate her suspicion of us not taking care of our bill. We do not eat pork.Every vegetable had pork in it.The food that was available was also limited, but we ate what we could without complaining. The next day I called to speak to Management about there being no option for non porkers on the menu.I was told by the same woman that harassed us about $payment, that the reason they called it southern Cuisine, was because there was Pork in all vegetables and sides.Weird.I am also from the South and I was not aware of this at all.Bottom line is if you're not a Porker and don't wish to be treated like a F-ing thief or slave stay clear Madam Pauline's establishment. The food was good. But the use of plastic knives/forks was the worst. The styrofoam plates completely ruined the meal. The smothered pork chops were very tough. Could not cut them with the plastic knife. The vegetables were very good but got only 2 bites of the pork chops before I said no more. Will never return till they start using real plates. read more
