So, I was very happy to receive tickets to…read moreMidnight Tango for Christmas from my friend who I go dancing with Midnight Tango is the dance show headlined by 2 of Strictly's stars, Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace. Set in a dusky South American bar, the production showcases this couple's signature Argentinian tango though there were interesting variations set to samba, waltz, rumba and cha cha cha rhythms Supported by an able dance troupe, there were several great ensemble numbers but the best dances came with Vincent and Flavia's couple spots, epitomised by the grand Argentine tango finale and their rumba-esque love dance in the second half. Their years together as a dance partnership is evident from the chemistry and some of the intricate intertwining legwork was amazing At the heart of the story was a touching love story between the grouchy barman and his long-suffering wife who both finally overcame their years of 'familiarity breeds contempt' marriage to re-discover their love through dance. They also shared the show's best comic moments and as we're constantly reminded in Strictly, a good dance should tell a story and the entire story of the show is conveyed without any dialogue What made the show were the rhythms and tunes produced by the live band. Cleverly introduced at the start of the show by adding the instruments one by one, the audience could appreciate the increasing layers of complexity as the violin was joined successively by the accordion, piano, double bass and percussion. The nearest car park is the…read moreblue car park but my friend and I had to wait 30 minutes to get out of the car park after the show - I'd recommend parking in one of the other car parks and walking We came to watch Midnight Tango, the dance show by Vincent Simone & Flavia Cacace of Strictly Come Dancing fame, which I'll review separately There's a bar outside and little concession stall selling expensive pick and mix. There was a little queue at the ladies tiolet before the show but following a polite enquiry by my friend, a steward led some of the women to some secret toilets hidden in the disabled toilet area The seats are quite close to the row in front but the banking in the Royal Circle was well done to give everyone a good view of the stage. That made it difficult to get past other viewers to get out - as we were in the middle of the row, we felt inhibited to get out at the interval to get some refreshments The theatre has some good shows in its rotation including previous West End shows like Dirty Dancing

The theatre waiting area was clean and is on three levels which is good we went down to the bottom as there was someone playing the piano which was nice and helped take away the waiting time. The theatre itself was clean and comfy wasn't hard to find the seats and the leg room was ok. The only gripe would be the cost of refreshments as they are expensive.
