I'm writing this review as an American...keep that in mind…read more This seems to be sort of an American themed place. Lots of Budweiser signs, and lots of bar food. Beer selection is only so-so. Liquor/cocktails looked to be a bit more diverse but I just didn't feel like it. The Caesar salad was HUGE. Actually, all the portions were huge. And I'm saying that as an American. We had popcorn chicken and come croquettes as well. The popcorn chicken was only ok. It had a breading more akin to the frozen chicken nuggets we ate as kids. It wasn't very crunchy. Nor was it very flavorful. The hot sauce provide was tobasco..Menus were in English The service was abysmal. I'm not sure if it that we were a group of Americans or not though. It took quite a bit of action on our part to get the attention of the staff. However, the food was crazy cheap (3 of us ate and had beer for ~165 R$ or about $70) That's the redeeming factor. Maybe if I was a local it'd be fun to go and have a bite or a drink at something that we could have found in the US, but as an American in a foreign land, I kind of wonder why I even went.

You'll find many imports from Belgium, Germany, and the US along with some Brazilian brews. Don't get too excited before ordering. You'll find they don't have many beers on the menu for whatever reason. It's pretty disappointing but a replacement beer will still be good. The burgers are their main entrée. They're actually very good, and the vegetarian one would be a good choice for anyone! Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Staff doesn't speak much English but does accept credit cards.

Delirium Tremens is on tap, which is good because it's the name sake. I like dark stouts and though they have a few on the menu they don't always stock them. Food is decent and I tried the bacon burger which was filling. It comes with a side of fries. It gets crowded but they've expanded the seating outside which spills out onto the road which is nice for the smokers. The inside is narrow and has only one bathroom for each (male and female). Service was friendly and it's a fun place to hangout at.

Friendly service and great selection of local beers (Colorado, 3 Cariocas, Noi, 2 Cabezas, etc). This makes it a little less commercial that the more touristy spots in Ipanema. The food is just simple salgados so it's not a dinner spot but a true drinking spot. Always crowded and now we know why.

If you are from a country that has an abundance of beer flavors Brewteco will make you feel right at home. More options than any other place I visited in Rio and really friendly bi-lingual bartenders which makes things so much easier after having to speak in sign language to most other locals. It's a little expensive, but worth it if you're a beer snob and sick of drinking Skol or Brahma.

The caldinho de feijão, essentially a cup of black bean "soup", was served with chicharrones and was so flavorful, I could have had a whole bowl of it. The highlight for me was definitely the empada de palmito, like a mini pot pie of palm hearts, it was so creamy, smooth and the pastry melts in your mouth. Of course can't pass on a caipirinha de maracujá (passion fruit), this one was probably the freshest of the whole trip! If you're in the Leblon area, stop by here after a beach day for an incredible Brazilian lunch

It wasn't terribly crowded, but there was only one waiter and one bus boy on the floor. The orange and raspberry juice was delicious but they ran out of a Therozópolis beer but had Bohemia. I tried the executivo dinner which was a grilled tilapia accompanied by brown rice with onions and a breaded eggplant covered in cheese and ham and a sliced bananas. The fish was excellent and the side dish was interesting. It was like eggplant parmigiana with banana. The executivo came with a espresso or pudding for dessert. The espresso was excellent. All for R$36. I also tasted the Gorgonzola and nut fettuccine with was creamy and tasty if you like that type of cheese.
