Oss-ome community, coaches are very hands on to students. A team that will treat you as family. No egos just pure fun and playful rolls. Prof Nick is a cool instructor. Other instructors are great too. The more experienced grapplers(colored belts) are always there willing to teach you and improve your game and not smash you. I work as an RN in a Psychiatric Facility-Emergency Room where assault rate among healthcare is high.Learning self defense is a must in our field,in which everyday is a challenge for me but thanks to GJJ I am more confident to deal with combative patients. After starting my martial arts journey in my mid 20's at another local mma gym in the area back in 2015, I fell in love with Jiu Jitsu and wanted to be somewhere that I could foster an emphasis on the fundamentals (this didn't happen at my first school). From day 1 I felt like this was the place for me to train. I quickly joined and through an injury and a limited schedule, always seemed to find my way back here. I came to BGJJ with zero experience in any mixed martial art. They make you feel welcome every day - instructors and all training partners of all levels. Nick and Laurel let you learn at your own pace and push you to do more when they know you can. We're gaining a strong group of women with the Women Empowered program who are trickling into the other programs at BGJJ. The Women Empowered class is an amazing bubble to face discomfort while feeling the most supported you could possibly feel - and learn some badass moves while you're there!! Absolutely amazing place! The head instructor is a BJJ black belt and Mixed Martial Arts champion. However, what really makes this a great place is his passion for the art, and skill in working with adults and children! So glad I decided to become a member of this fine school. I walked in as a white belt about four years ago when there were only about two or three other women in the school. Laurel has done a fantastic job of teaching the Women's Empowered Curriculum and we've got a lot of ladies in the school now. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
