They just may turn me into a fitness fanatic yet- okay, maybe that is pushing it, but you never know! But for real, when it comes to going to the gym, I am that person you usually have to drag kicking and screaming. It isn't that I hate working out per say, but I just find most gyms and workouts so BORING and I have this whole thing against sitting in other people's body funk fluid. Ewww. So I pretty much avoided gyms at all costs. Well I did until I started working out with Ginger Valentine. I can't express to you how fun this place is. This women-focused and owned studio is all about body positivity, getting fit and doing through the art of dance. I've taken several Burlesque Basics, Bumps and Grinds and I hope to take the Burlesque Body Workout as soon as I move back to Dallas. These classes are fun, will work you out so hard core and still works fantastically if you have joint problems like I do. If you are a girl of size like I am, seriously, don't worry about it. It does not matter. You will not run into any snotty Queen B's that deserve a good slap. Everyone is all about cheering each other own and I like that the classes aren't huge like at regular gyms. If burlesque is not your thing, they also offer classes in Adult Ballet, Yoga and do have Hip-Hop classes including beginning break-dancing. How cool is that?! All of the instructors are professional dancers with years upon years of training and even better, the two owners are award winning burlesque dancers. I know I may sound super cheesy and like an infomercial, but I was rather pleased with my experience. Parking should not be a problem and although studio may be a little tricky to find at first, you won't have any problems afterwards. So seriously, go and get your health.

When I arrived they were finishing up a dance class (that looked great)! The yoga class was a nice refresher since I haven't indulged in a while. My only complaint is that the sound bath was extremely loud that it made it hard to meditate and my thoughts kept focusing on the sound. A more quieter approach would've been better, for me, at least. I would return to check out their dance classes and see what those have to offer.

And I left feeling exhilarated and confident and, yes, sexier than when I walked in!! Fast forward to today, March of 2019, and I am down almost 20 pounds!! But even better is the STRENGTH and CONDITIONING I have gained already in these 4 months. I have never, ever, in my life been able to climb ANYTHING...well barely even a ladder. Now I can shimmy (although not so prettily) my way up a bar and have learned so many pretty & cool ways to come back down it! My shoulders, arms, thighs, calves, EVERYTHING, are visibly stronger and fitter. Even better, I have FINALLY found a fitness program that I LOVE and rush to get to the classes. And it's so much more than just pole dance! The floor work, stretching, chair dance, yoga...they have it all!

So when I emailed to inquire about purchasing a package, I got an immediate response. This company was emailing me to prompt and gave me such transparency! When I arrived, they had a table out, already decorated for us. I brought my own food and non-Alcoholic drinks. They also have a tip jar so bring some $$$. Even though some of my girlfriend were late, they were really laid back and stretched my hour, I soooo appreciated that. Our instructor KayCherie was so amazing! Nice, and a great instructor! She was clear, and explained everything very well. The moves were SO fun! But boy, it's a workout!! More upper body to me then lower body, but we did a whole routine and just had a blast. THey also have a tripod and they allow you to do as many pictures and videos as you want!! You won't regret this experience!

The "magic parlor" is in a space on Exposition near Fair Park. There's street parking or a couple of paid lots if the street is full. The space is pretty small, but didn't feel cramped with 50 or so guests. I booked my ticket online for $20 through Prekindle. You can also pay another $10 to reserve seats in the front two rows. We strolled in and they checked us in. Seats were first come first serve so we were in the very back. My friend brought in his cooler of booze, but I also noticed there were a few free bottles of wine at the front and some bottle water. Very nice! David Jessup a local comedian opened the show and was the MC all night between acts with the help of Audrey Grace who opened and closed the curtains and held up the applause sign when David was bombing (haha). There were a couple of burlesque dancers at this show. One, Bethany Summersizzle, danced a few times. The other, Jai Le Bait did crazy stunts like swallow a knife! Confetti Eddie is the main performer and he reminded me of the old timey black and white movies where the folks didn't talk. He was so cute and charming. He did a few corny magic tricks that were still very fun to watch! Popper Zander was on hand this Friday night and played a few songs of her own that went well the night's burlesque/side show theme. Overall we had such a fun night. It's kind of awesome turning your cell phone off for an hour or so and enjoying a show with live performers. Keep up with Confetti Eddie on FB to see the next upcoming shows!

Both were very good and the tricks were fun. The venue is very intimate and had only seats 50 or so - which meant that virtually all of the audience had the chance to participate in the show at some point. The show itself had several acts along with two musical interludes from the Wild Natives (who were also quite good). Afterwards the performers invite the audience for drinks at one of the bars close by. We had a great time and would recommend it.
