While visiting Brussels for the Christmas Market, my husband and I stumbled upon this place. We didn't know that there was such a thing as Belgian meatballs. My husband and I walked in and were instantly greeted with smiling, helpful places. The meal comes with 2 meatballs, 2 sauces and a side. They have a selection of different kind of meatballs you can order and selection of sauces for the meatballs. I ordered the mushroom sauce and the marinara sauce. The mushroom sauce was not overpowering mushroom tasting at all. The marinara sauce was rich and tasty. Not too acidity at all. It matched perfectly with the meatball. I also ordered as my side, brussels sprouts. Nicely par boiled and seasoned with a little bit of salt and pepper. This place is a must visit in Brussels.

Vegetable and chicken meatballs

I had 24 hours in Brussels to try all of the things that they're famous for, including a meatball. My friend and I went in with the intention of trying one meatball and moving onto the next delicacy. We did try the chicken meatball with the mushroom cream sauce and it was the best meatball I've ever had. We continued on with our day trying other things, walking, and of course having beer. We ended up returning here for dinner to get yet another meatball. On my second trip I tried the chicken meatball with the cherry sauce and the veggie meatball with tomato sauce. Both again were absolutely amazing. Since I went there twice in one day needless to say this was a five-star experience and I definitely would recommend it if you want to try authentic Belgium meatballs. They also offer a good selection of beer and wine.

This is the dinner option. Two meatballs, two sauces, and one side.

At first I was a little unsure because I am not always a fan of meatballs HOWEVER these meatballs were some of the best I have ever had! The meatball was beef/pork and the sauce was peanut and coconut, with fried onions on top. I also learned that meatballs are a traditional food in Belgium. The fried and salad were also good. And all the employees were very friendly and enjoyed answering my questions.

Beef Meatball with Tomato Sauce and Cheese with Belgian Fries

I wandered into this place looking for something to drink and decided that the meatballs looked too good to pass up! The staff were super nice and the restaurant was very clean and tidy. I had a beef meatball with the tomato sauce with cheese on top and it was absolutely amazing. They also have options for people who don't eat beef/ pork and I also believe they have a vegetarian option as well.

Wonderful food and service! Beautiful restaurant! Glad we found this gem! Amazing meatballs, frites, and fried cheese balls an a fun street to walk in Belgium. The employees were nice and even gave us tips on what to see while we were in Belgium.

Simple food done well. We came for French fries they do well - certainly a top one in this neighbourhood. The meat balls we gave a miss this time but would recommend them based on earlier experience. Good, casual atmosphere!

But they do their best to seat as many people as possible. I got in fairly quickly because i was alone. The food was fantastic. I had the Carbonade a la Biere, and it was so great! If you want to try Belgian food with reasonable prices then this was one good option in Brussels…read more I arrived early for Friday night dinner and the restaurant was just over half full with lots of available seating. While the register states No Cards one of the servers told the table next to mine not worry when they didn't have enough euros. Only a drink menu was provided and the dishes being served that day were handwritten on moveable boards or posted on the wall. I had on my list a couple to try but finally went with the Belgian carbonades à la biere which was beef stew with mashed potatoes in a dark gravy made with beer. The plate was quite generous and much appreciated since I devoured it. I enjoyed the creaminess of the potatoes swirled with gravy but the meat could've been a tad bit more tender. Service was good. I think everyone on the floor stopped by my table for one reason or the other. Ambiance was casual and looked like many people were taking their time over their meals. When finished you need head to the register to settle the tab. I paid in cash. Worth a return visit.

Ah.. the Belgian experience. If you're familiar with it, you probably appreciate its peculiarities…read more If you're not, well why pass by a country and not try "local" as the kids like to call it these days. I've never seen a country handle potatoes better than Belgium and I've tried fries overseas. Trust me when I tell you that there's a technique to it that many countries do not master, unfortunately. Now, the Belgian experience.... You need a restaurant called a taverne. A place where the "menu of the day" might be a grandmother's vol-au-vent, stoemp with sausage or another variety. You'll need lots of-and I mean- lots of beer; the classics and the crafts for the more modern folk. You wouldn't want to miss the one thing that make tavernes so recognizable: the deep green over deck that covers you when the inevitable Belgian rain comes pouring down. It's lovely how many different faces you'll see at restaurants like these. It ranges from groups of women grabbing a cup of coffee while bikering about whether or not one of them should call off her wedding. A huge family that had to have a family meal right there and then with the rowdy kids to match or couples, that desired to create intimate bonds through the one thing they'll always agree on: good food. Does it matter that the sauce that accompanied the duck had way too much alcohol in it for my taste? Or that the over deck was a tad bit too short , which caused half of my body to be wet from the rain? Or that this place wasn't that special but I liked it anyway? Because when I look back, the tad bits of "just good enough " that I found at Dynasty created a moment that I cherish in my heart.

I am not a waterzooi expert but I really liked it. I will continue to search for different recipes to compare but this dish was VERY light, full of chicken with veggies and mild flavor. Needed some salt but I loved it was so light yet satisfying. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our server acknowledged us right away and hot us drinks. The food came out quickly- although it was 14:00 in a Monday- so was not very busy. Inside was like a quaint French cafe even tho in Brussels. We also got a small salad and the vinaigrette was light and tasty. They also bring bread to table- good for soaking up delicious broth. Loved it. Would def come back to try other dishes. Another good sign was there were mostly locals there- good sign!!

On first impression, it seemed quite busy. I'm not sure if it's always super busy, but the servers seemed very busy & overwhelmed with amount of tasks that they had to fulfill. It didn't really affect me, but just something I noticed. What disappointed & affected me the most however was the mussels that I was so anticipating. The presentation was nice, but the taste was not... The soup that was on the bottom was coating the mussels and it was way too salty for my taste! It tasted a lot like sea water. There were a decent amount of mussels to eat, but the saltiness really made it hard for me to eat each piece. It didnt have much flavor other than salt. The only saving grace was the fries. Overall, I would not recommend getting an order of mussels here...

Once you've entered Place St. Catherine, you're completely out of the main tourist district which is nice if you want something more authentic as opposed to overpriced and themepark-like. Viva M'Boma is small, clean and has an understated elegance in its simplicity. It's apparent once you see the menu that you are there to experience something you wouldn't normally get at most places that label themselves food-centric (they specialize in organs). Not only is the menu eclectic; they deliver hard core with flavors that are savory, intense and exquisite. For the starter we had Kirr with cassis as an aperitif that accompanied an order of pan-seared calf's brain in a beef boullion with onion and garlic, and a fois gras in a very traditional presentation. Both were outstanding and a good prelude of what was to come. We placed the second order once we finished our starters so that we could carefully select the next delicious offering as there were so many awesome things to choose from. I was tempted by the Pot-au-feu, essentially a stew of beef cheeks, oxtail and marrow, but was swayed by the waitress to the solomillo of horse, cooked blue and with a glass of St. Emilion. Yep, it was incredible! The meat was cooked expertly and the pairing showed of a true professional. My better half had veal cheeks that were stewed in beer and fell apart when you so much as touched them with the fork. This dish exploded with flavor and left us wanting to lick the plate after it was done. We finished the evening off with a house-made speculoos ice-cream (gingerbread) and caramelized apples... Pretty F'n awesome! We really enjoyed the experience, hospitality and knowledge of this establishment. We never felt rushed and all our questions were answered kindly and consummately. If you are in Brussels and are looking for something truly special, masterfully prepared and unlike anything you normally indulge in, please visit this place and stay away from Rue des Bouchers.
