Fries
Vinkin Ken T.

We came in on a rainy Tuesday at 12pm. The waitstaff asked if we were here just for the fries or for plates because if we were here for just the fries we would go next door to their take out area to order. We were hungry and didn't want to get wet so we dined in. 30 minutes later the restaurant was about 90% full. The menu was extensive. They offered salads, burgers, tartare, fish, and various other entrees plus desserts. We must have been so hungry that we ordered the, Welsh Rarebit, and didn't read the description. We thought we ordered a rabbit entree and that it was spelled in Dutch. We also got a side of fries. Welsh rarebit is similar to a croque monsieur. It had a slice of bread underneath topped with ham, cheese and a fried egg and baked. It was good and comforting. The fries were cooked in beef fat and it had a light beefy taste however they were not crispy. We had Belgium fries 3 times on this day and these were our least favorite. We were later disappointed we skipped on the Zeeland mussels, another assumption as they were New Zealand mussels and they were not. Don't be like us, if you are not sure about something on the menu, ask or do a quick google search.

Small quaint restaurant for a nice meal! I stopped by after a long day exploring Bruges and Ghent. There was a few parties in there dining late at night. There are many tables and lots of room. The restaurant is not too loud. Service was as quick and very friendly here. The staff frequently checked on me to make sure I was ok! The food was great! I got the mussels and the stew both came with fries! The fries were crispy and light. The stew was.l very hearty and the meat chunks were tender. The mussels were great! Perfect representation of Belgian food!

Initially came here to get some pomme frites, but decided to dine-in for dinner....we were glad we did. It wasn't too crowded inside on a Monday night, and heard English being spoken so knew that tourists came here. They must have a large frites carryout business, since the host asked us what we were there for. Once we let him know that we were here for dinner, he directed us to a nice table to the side. We were given the English version of the large menu. We ordered three things, all of which came with fries. The moules frites (25 €) was excellent...a lot of mussels, steamed in a simple, white wine broth...this was a bargain for the price. On the menu it says a full kg of Zeeland mussels...so I mistakenly thought they were frozen New Zealand green mussels on the half-shell...instead it looked like it was blue mussels (the kind called Prince Edward Island Mussels here in the states), but so much bigger. Later I learned that it came from Zeeland (the Western Coast of Netherlands)...so its a local product, of a bigger variety of blue mussels. The broth needs to have the juice that the live mussels given when they are cooked...frozen mussels won't cut it. The cheeseburger (Georgette Burger for 17€) was hearty...the beef patty was hand formed and very tender, sitting on top of a nice homemade bun (almost a english muffin consistency), with very fresh vegetables. Finally, the fish n chips (Sorrel sauce, soy cream for 17€) were good...mainly for the excellent frites, a bit thick on the batter. It came with a nice green salad. The fries were good, double fried and thick, perfect for dipping in the various sauces. Each fry can get it's own dipping sauce, and the host was kind enough to offer a sample of all three. None of them were too 'out there', and were mainly mayonaisse based, with different flavors (including tartar). I liked that the menu clearly explained their expectations...for example, they don't offer free, tap water, but instead suggest getting bottled still. Water is water, but we had no problem ordering it since it was clearly explained. They also offer three different types of belgian beer on tap, and the ones we tried were excellent and relatively inexpensive....come to think of it, it might have been cheaper than the still water.

The fries here are incredible! I got a simple chicken sandwich and the highlight was the accompanying fries. My Bf got steak and it was a bit dry for his taste but much better with their house sauce. I would 100% recommend this place. The owner was very kind and welcoming as well!

I liked this spot. They had some decent beers on tap. I had the filet. It was cooked to a perfect medium. It was a little on the tough side. I liked the vegetables it came with. I sampled the pork which was alright, a little dry. I did not sampled the steak tartare but I was told it was tasty. Service was alright it was pretty busy. Of course, it would not be a French speaking country if the waiter didn't speak poorly of the "Americans" while speaking to a Belgian table.

One of the reasons I went to Brussels was to try the frites. I was so excited to try them I realized I got there before it actually opened. No worries, I did some walking around and at noon, I became their first customer of the day! I quickly ordered some frites with some georgette sauce and bam, they got to work! Loved seeing the piles of cut potatoes and hearing those baddies hit the oil. And within a few minutes I got a huge cone of frites and georgette sauce. This portion size is no joke, it's probably more fitting as a meal or to be shared, but I ended up eating them all myself anyway. In the cold weather, the frites definitely warmed me up. The Georgette sauce was creamy and flavorful, wish I could go back to try more of the sauces too. If you're the area, definitely make a stop for some frites. It's only a few euro and you get so many frites you'll definitely leave full. And on the plus side, it's right next to Delirium so if you're drinking a beer and need some good eats, hit up Georgette's!

Great food, great service, with a dimly lit and homey interior. There is some outdoor seating as well. It was so great we came back a second day in a row!

The best fries I had in Belgium, even better than Fritland which has a much, much longer queue and is primarily a fries place, Cafe Georgette is part sit-down restaurant and part fries take-away. It is very underrated, which might be a good thing for the locals. First, their fries are wrapped in newspaper in an aesthetic manner. They leave the skin on their fries, which makes them the crispiest fries I ever had, but the inside was still soft. Finally, their sauces are simply amazing, and I recommend the Georgette sauce - a creamy but refreshing mayo!

Frites

We came here because we read that it was one of the best places for frites in Brussels. This absolutely does not disappoint! I had the salade niçoise with frites and my dining companion had moules frites. We also had a couple of spritzes. Everything was fantastic. Sure the service is a little slow, but that's to be expected in most European cities.

While in Brussels, we found that pretty much everything closes early. Like by 6 PM... Café Georgette was one of the very few places within walking distance that was open late and it was super close to Delirium Cafe, where we were headed after. They also seemed like the best option out of the bunch. My husband got a beer and pasta dish that came with a small salad which he enjoyed. I wasn't TOO hungry & just got frites (fries) which was actually really good, better than the frites that I had earlier in the day (that was good too though!). I also got the cheesecake because there is always room for dessert no matter what and this did not disappoint. Best cheesecake I've ever had! My husband who is not a big fan of cheesecake agreed with me too. It was a little pricey and the service was quite slow, but having just woken up from our naps, we weren't really in a rush. Overall, this was a great place to stop to fill our bellies before heading over to the bar.

Fries with truffle sauce.

I just came here for the fries and truffle sauce. We were at delerium and I asked our awesome bartender where his favorite spot is for fries, since it seems to be one of the must haves in Belgium. He directed us to this place. It was SO good! The fries came out fresh, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The sauce is a separate fee and there were a few to choose from. I chose the tartufo. No regrets, absolutely amazing. I'm going to try to recreate the sauce when I get home, it was that good. Service was great. The gentleman was super nice and the food came out quickly. Very efficient!

Come for the fries! We opted for the quick take away area for some hot out the fryer treats! The joint came recommended by our tour guide. Super happy with the reco. Lots of sauce options too! The curry ketchup was my fav though.

Chicken dinner
Lilee N.

Saw the frites shop outside and the tour guides explaining how their fries were the ones to try for the dipping sauces so we decided to try the cafe for dinner. Nothing out of the ordinary from your usual bistro or fast casual spot in America. Just slower service. The waitress took a while to take our order and after bringing our order, did not check in. So when we needed something we had to go ask for it at the bar. The place was pretty empty so it wasn't like she was very busy. Food was good but nothing memorable. We got the chicken dish and the steak. Both came with a sauce of our choice, fries and some greens. Again, nothing stellar. Just a normal dinner meal. At least it wasn't expensive. As for the fries, not sure what the hype is. If you just want an excuse to eat fries go for it but they don't taste any better or worse than fries from any American bar. Go spend your calories on a waffle!

While the register states No Cards one of the servers told the table next to mine not worry when they didn't have enough euros. Only a drink menu was provided and the dishes being served that day were handwritten on moveable boards or posted on the wall. I had on my list a couple to try but finally went with the Belgian carbonades à la biere which was beef stew with mashed potatoes in a dark gravy made with beer. The plate was quite generous and much appreciated since I devoured it. I enjoyed the creaminess of the potatoes swirled with gravy but the meat could've been a tad bit more tender. Service was good. I think everyone on the floor stopped by my table for one reason or the other. Ambiance was casual and looked like many people were taking their time over their meals. When finished you need head to the register to settle the tab. I paid in cash. Worth a return visit.

I am not a waterzooi expert but I really liked it. I will continue to search for different recipes to compare but this dish was VERY light, full of chicken with veggies and mild flavor. The food came out quickly- although it was 14:00 in a Monday- so was not very busy. Inside was like a quaint French cafe even tho in Brussels. On first impression, it seemed quite busy. I'm not sure if it's always super busy, but the servers seemed very busy & overwhelmed with amount of tasks that they had to fulfill. It didn't really affect me, but just something I noticed. What disappointed & affected me the most however was the mussels that I was so anticipating. The presentation was nice, but the taste was not... The soup that was on the bottom was coating the mussels and it was way too salty for my taste! It tasted a lot like sea water. There were a decent amount of mussels to eat, but the saltiness really made it hard for me to eat each piece. It didnt have much flavor other than salt. The only saving grace was the fries. Overall, I would not recommend getting an order of mussels here...
