Due to the findings from a recent medical check, I had to have an outpatient surgery done…read more Everything was set up, I received updates from my appointments and the surgery via both calls from the scheduling team, the doctor's office and also via Epic MyChart which is the helpful tool where you can track all medical care, notes and such easily via the phone app or your computer. I arrived at 630a the day of my surgery, was taken back into the prepping area where nurse Gemma got me all ready for my procedure, took my readings, checked up on me to ensure everything was ready to go and to ensure I was feeling at ease. There was also nurse Amy who came in, prepping me and another whose name I cannot recall but each one of them truly were wonderful. The level of care I was provided helped ease any anxiety or worries which could have gotten a hold of me. Dr. Sefton, the anesthesiologist came by to introduce himself, explain how he was going to provide his skills towards my care, informed me of what exactly he would monitor me for to ensure I was not feeling nauseous after the anesthesia I would be provided. A short bit after, Dr. Kemp came in to also go through how she was going to assist my health with the surgery I was going to have. My loved ones were brought in to sit with me for a bit before I was moved into the operating room, given some good drugs and I don't recall anything until I was moved into PACU for recovery. While in the PACU, my loved ones were able to come in as a nurse monitored me to make sure there were no aftereffects happening, I was dressed up once everything was clear that I was feeling well enough to head home, and my visit to the Outpatient was pleasantly done. I was given clear instructions on how to treat my procedure area and what to expect. I arrived home by noon time, shortly after took a nap and have not felt any nausea or pain at all. I was able to sleep well in my own bed, woke up today in great spirits and feeling wonderful considering all that has happened a short while ago. I went onto MyChart and read through all the clinical notes posted by Dr. Kemp where everything is clearly outlined so I can easily track my care.

A member of my family recently spent an extended period at AdventHealth. There were individual…read morenurses, therapists and other staff members who provided excellent and compassionate care, and they deserve recognition. Unfortunately, the overall experience left me with serious concerns about how AdventHealth manages complex patients. Care was fragmented across multiple specialties, with inconsistent communication and no clear sense that anyone was responsible for pulling the entire clinical picture together. Too often, the family became the coordinator, connecting information between physicians, following up on tests and trying to reconcile conflicting explanations. We also encountered significant barriers when attempting to obtain an outside medical opinion, including incorrect information about releasing medical records and a process that required the family to navigate departments, policies and credentialing issues largely on our own. Most concerning was discharge planning. It moved forward while significant ongoing health issues still required clear plans for pain management, blood pressure, dialysis, bowel problems, respiratory issues and follow-up care. The family repeatedly questioned whether there was a comprehensive plan for managing these issues once the patient left the hospital. Good people work at AdventHealth. That is not the same thing as having a healthcare system that works well. For a hospital caring for seriously ill patients, communication, coordination, accountability and continuity of care should not depend on how persistent the patient's family is.

Although I was here for several hours 12:30-6am, my cat was cared for and gently handled the whole time. They were relatively quick with the tests they ran, and everyone was knowledgable and extremely kind. They do xrays on site and are able to triage several pets at one time. There are at least 3 doctors I saw, and so many vet techs who seem to love what they do. I really appreciate all that was done for my cat. I attached my bill as well to my review. Although kind of expensive, it is worth it to have my cat be alive and well. They did give me a discount, again, they were very kind. Base visit is $180 and anything additional will be added in a quote they will show you before more care is applied to your pet. They see cats and dogs, as well as other animals and exotic animals such as birds/rabbits/bearded dragons/etc. I would definitely come back here if my cats were in distress.

I signed a paper that said if my insurance company doesn't pay for my hernia repair then I would have to pay $345 also there is a $650 charge if as a prepay patient I have to stay overnight. Ok... I wake up to find out I did NOT go home but instead the HOSPITAL OVERSOSED ME with too much medicine and they decided I should stay for their over-sedation mistake. I even had a hospital representative come ask me for the $200 balance owed as I was trying to recover. Anyway, I went home and less than 3 weeks later I see that my insurance was billed for my stay and they paid over $40K. WHAT what what?????!!! AND the hospital is billing ME the deductible coinsurance of $2650... I never sued them, I just want my money back and them to cover their mistake and write off the $2650. I have waited patiently for 60 days or 2 full months while my account from May 28th is under review from their insurance department. Only to find out today that NEVER happened and the supervisors are saying according to their notes the charges are valid. You make a $40000. mistake that would have only cost me $650 of which because it was YOUR mistake I would not have had to pay anyway? One supervisor told me that once they billed the insurance company and got paid my self pay status of getting a discount was null. If that's the case do what the anesthesiologist did and REFUND my money!!! What a racket and terrible business practice this hospital is running. Now I will wait another 45 days while you keep collecting countless insurance payments and never calling me back with the status. Stay away if you need your money and have a choice to go elsewhere. I feel VERY very cheated even though the doctor took responsibility, the hospital thinks it's okay to do wrong and make the patient keep paying! Ridiculous....

I also needed to establish a physician for my lower back L4, L5 and S1 pain medications I am on for over 20 years. Nurse practitioner came, took list of my meds mail order. She ordered my meds. Upon receiving the meds I noticed, she didn't order one of my meds for 90 days BUT for 30 days with no refills. I called pharmacy. Pharmacy replied, doctor ordered for 30 days with no refill. I called doctor's office. The doctor says he will not write 90 days or 30 days refill until he checks my physical. The clinic is stuck up, making totally irrelevant excuses to write meds refill or for 90 days. In order to further establish state of my physical, doctor went ahead with my blood test. I also requested to check if I am allergic to any unknown allergy. Besides, The unqualified staff who don't know how to read blood pressure. The pressure was so high, the nurse practitioner refused to order my medication I am using for almost 20 years. Well anyway, I went back to get blood drawn for testing purpose making sure there is nothing wrong anymore apart from some unknown allergic reaction I had earlier. The 2nd nurse came in to draw my blood. She can't even find my vein. Huh.... She send 3rd nurse to draw the blood. She gets it without making "ANY EXTRA DIGGING" efforts. Two days after, doctor on duty on Sunday calls asking "IF I AM DOING OK?" I was surprised. I went curious asking why what you find? Doctor says, my "SUGAR IS SO LOW" he wanted to make sure I am ok. I said something is wrong with your test. My sugar isn't as low as might think. I am absolutely active, working, going to gym. He said, there should be something wrong in test. He asked if anything went wrong while they drawing the blood? I said, the nurse named Deborah could find my vein. So she went ahead ask 3rd nurse to draw the blood. That's all. He orders 2nd blood drawn. I went today for another blood draw. 4th nurse came to draw the blood. He instigated if I get bruises a lot. I said, yes depending on how much you dig in my body. He takes my blood, then leaves all near by me, goes out to check if I have follow up appointment for test result discussions. I requested again, to write refill plus 90 days supply for my pain medicines. The receptionist said, she will send in message forward. They will call. Nurse named Deborah called, started crying for the same. They will not order another refill or 90 days supply. I said, you are not making any sense. She Says, my blood pressure was too high. It seemed like the doctors office practicing unethical behavior to cash on new patience. Moreover I am above 60 so I am a target of their atrocious pattern of behavior. They would also contradict each other causing a lot of confusion. Anesthesiologist punctured my wife's spine and blamed her...another had to come and finish. What took the first provider five pokes in 30 minutes took the next one about 90 seconds. Clearly operator error. Very unprofessional. Due to this my wife had to have another procedure after giving birth to twins...he had severe back pain, was leaking spinal fluid and was have headache so debilitating she couldn't even get up to use the restroom. None of this is related to giving birth... all of it was related to the epidural and due to the incompetence of anesthesiologist. The only good doctor we experienced was the one who delivered our twins. She kept checking in with us, communicated a plan with us and was very positive. We were there for 5 days and only saw a doctor when we requested one about 2 hours before you were discharged. no one can answer our questions... The nurse has tried their best, but weren't getting much answers from the doctors above them. Again, shout out to the delivery unit, nursing staff, lead nurses, charge nurses and entire nicu staff. Oh! The food staff and cleaning staff was also very nice and did their job well. Doctors? 2/10 We considering contacting an attorney.

First, it is so cold in the maternity area that I had to get blankets to keep myself warm, as well as my son in law who was also freezing.My daughter was covered and she was cold, even being in labor! Secondly, when it was time for the baby to be born, the nurse told my daughter she would have to wait as the doctor was delivering another baby.....what???....another nurse grabbed the house phone and said that unless a doctor came to my daughter's room immediately, the nurse was going to deliver the baby. Two doctors showed up rather quickly. My grand daughter made her entrance into the world! The nurses were fantastic,patient, and spent a lot of time explaining what was going on with my daughter's labor. The hospital is clean and well maintained. Food was just okay. Breast feeding support seemed to be good. There was a lag in time when my daughter and her husband were told a room would be ready in the NICU (baby needed some blood work follow-up) would be ready in an hour. It took several hours.They were exhausted as my daughter had been in labor for quite some time and just wanted to get settled so they could rest a bit before bringing the baby home. Anyway, the little family is fine!

I found out there was a free valet for patients however, I had valuables in the car so I decided to go to the Self Park, which meant I was an extra 15 minutes late because there was traffic and it went up slowly. The digestive center was amazing, it was very modern and beautiful, clean and all staff was friendly and quick. The whole experience for the surgery part was amazing. Doctor Bang was really amazing and kind. All staff were excellent, I would ring the bell and two seconds later someone was already there to help. after the surgery, there were some small complications so instead of going home, I was brought up to a room. From here on the experience was not that great. I asked the assigned nurse for water and juice which she never brought, and I never saw her again until transitioning shift to the next nurse. I ended up calling and the head nurse was very kind and brought me something to drink finally. When I was out of water, I had to call again because I had not seen anyone in a long time and staff had come to pick up a food tray which I never received. They finally showed up with a dinner plate at 6:30pm. I am on a liquid diet, so I was very happy and hungry even it was not a food plate. It had a popsicle, Jell-O, juice, tea, and broth. I was so hungry I ended up going down to the cafeteria and buy a meal. I had denied an IV fluid as I can drink through my mouth however they refused to remove the port which I understand is protocol. At 5am my hand was hurting so bad I demanded it to be removed and they finally did. I also removed the heart monitor because I was tired and wanted to sleep. The morning staff was very friendly. As I was still on the liquid diet I went back downstairs to buy me something to eat this time I tried the Main bean coffee shop. All staff was friendly and helpful on my last day. It would be nice to have an adult conversation with the team of doctors on my case. Each one contradicts the other and I'm not getting better or younger but I am starving. For what I'm being charged they could at least feed me. I would think that after 18 days they would have a comprehensive plan for my care but apparently NOT! It's not as if I came in off the street this surgery was set up well a head of schedule and you would think that they had done their reschearch. I'm guessing its not really the hospital's fault more the doctors who apparently DIDN'T do their research before hand. All I can say is next (God forbid) I choose better doctors!!!!
