Was going to throw them away and start over but decided to see if they could be saved as there was still room to take in. I had very little faith that this plan would work but gave it a go. The ladies here at the Cameron Station Cleaners/alterations repaired them and it was less than it cost at the Pentagon. Just in awe and relieved! Really wish I had taken a before picture to highlight what they fixed but they look like a normal pair of pants now.

As another reviewer noted, I always try to pay in cash for small businesses like this. Both because of the fees the business, and because of the relative security of whatever antiquated system they are likely using.

I walked by this place while wearing said skirt on my way for coffee before the start of the conference to find out about hours and estimated price so I could come back later. The gentleman working there said it would be $10 and that they were open til 7pm. When he looked at my skirt he offered me several safety pins for the mean time, and then I think he took a second look at me and realized my inaptitude and offered to pin it up for me right there, while I was wearing it, for no charge. When I came back later that Monday night thinking it could be ready by Wednesday night, he was honest that it probably wouldn't be done til Thursday morning (I had to be already wearing it Thurs morning at 6am #lightpacker) so that wouldn't work for me, but I appreciated the honesty and the unexpected above-and-beyond service!

Trust me when I say that finding allergy-free cleaning ain't easy. The current task - getting my mattress cover cleaned without the use of enzymes - had proven to be nearly impossible before my visit to Presto. As it turns out, dry cleaners usually use a host of enzymes in their cleaning products. Since enzymes are little more than various forms of sophisticated fungus, you can see why a mold-sensitive person might need to avoid washing her linens with fungus (even if it is the industry standard for removing stains). I introduce the answer to my dilemma - the staff at Presto. I phoned before visiting their location and the woman who answered was incredibly patient. I asked about everything from whether their building had suffered water damage, to exactly how long they would keep my belongings, to a rundown on their knowledge of cleaning enzymes. When I arrived in-person, mattress cover in hand, the staff was courteous and informative. They took the time to explain that I needed a "dry clean process" versus a "wet." The employee even carefully marked and bagged my cover indicating that I suffered from an allergy. To my surprise, my cover was ready for pickup the very next day. It was tucked neatly into a zipped bag for only $27.00. Especially for our area, that price is excellent! I would give Presto 5 stars if it weren't for the strong perfume/deodorizer smell left lingering on my mattress cover. While I have not had an allergic reaction like I would to enzymes, I am not thrilled that the material smells like an awful fragranced deodorant. Do note though that it does not smell anything like the customary, harsh dry cleaning fumes, but for someone who avoids all fragrances, the smell it does have is still posing a bit of a challenge. I have yet to put the cover on my bed. I am currently "airing it out" in hopes the smell will dissipate over the next few days. My conclusion is that the staff's friendliness, informative and upfront attitude, the environmentally friendly nature of the business, affordable pricing and promptness of service warrant giving Presto not only 4 stars, but also another chance at establishing a regular relationship. I'm planning to inquire about the fragrance issue next time in hopes of determining whether we might take my natural cleaning options one step further in the future (read sans perfumed deodorant).

There were still several subtle stains on the dress and bow, which they said they would call to talk about if they couldn't get out. They never called and still made me pay $130. To be fair, there were sections of the dress that we practically black from being dragged on the floor all night. Additionally they somehow ripped apart the bow that went on the rear of the dress--it's a mess now and droops down. It was a high quality material that sat up right before they cleaned it. Maybe it was caused by the way they handle garments in the shop? When I was picking up and dropping off they were throwing clothes on the ground and throwing them around pretty roughly.

I have a few dress shirts--which for me were not cheap--but have a few stains from normal wear. I took the shirts to my regular dry cleaner (Zips), and pointed out the stains I needed removed from the shirts. One would think Zips NEVER had a customer ask if a stain could be removed! After two attempts with Zips--stains still there, but a nice little note stating the stains could not be removed--I decided to take the shirts elsewhere. I took the shirts to King Cleaners in Alexandria, and once again pointed out the stains and asked if they could be removed. I was promised they would do their best to remove the stains. Upon picking up my shirts, along with other items I dropped off, I was pleasantly surprised that the stains from my most expensive dress shirts were gone, and quite frankly that my other garments appeared to be better cared for than what I was used to getting at the larger chain drycleaner. Needless to say, I now have a new dry cleaner with whom I feel pays better individual attention to my garments that the big box drycleaners! Remember, you get what you pay for! King cleaners provided an excellent product for a fair and reasonable price.

The woman cleaned to recharge me to hem it!! You could see it was not wear and tear but never hemmed to begin with and she would not budge. She pretty much claimed I was lying . I told her that ten dollars was not a lot but it was the principal and would take it to someone who actually was an expert and valued their customers. She made me feel horrible!
