CAUTION - they charge a 10% fee on your credit card if you cancel an equipment rental reservation - even 8 days in advance of the rental appt. NO advance warning of this fee. Fee is excessive. Balcom Brothers also installs the Boss Snow Plow. I had one installed on my 2013 Jeep JK. A few points I'd like to make. 1. Going through the Boss plow web site you can choose different dealers to get estimates from. Balcom Brothers was by far the best price overall for equipment and installation. Another dealer wanted to charge additional shipping for parts not in stock, Ballard Brothers did not. 2. I was able to have my after market bumper looked at to be sure a plow could be mounted with the winch and fairlead attached. With the plow installed, there is still clearance. But without them taking the time to check before hand, I wouldn't have had the time to make changes if needed. 3. Wiring- here is the only point of contention I have. I'm a little bit of a neat freak when it comes to running new wires, and I will need to "clean up" some of the wiring. The wires and power cables should be cleanly cut and shortened to fit, rather than having excess tucked into open cavities. Overall, everyone from Mary in the front office who I dealt with for the estimates, to the installers who pre checked the bumpers, the installer who I talked to on the phone after the install, about securing the plug ends with the Boss manufactured plates, this was a four star transaction. I would highly recommend them. Just a side note: The closest other estimated price I got was $1500 more, which included shipping for , not in stock parts! For install and price, I have to say Balcom Brothers should be your first and last look. I'll update after I take it back for a service. read more

The owner of Balcoms berated me and my family as we were loading my brothers van into a car transport for his Uhaul trip to TX. He arrived at the business and immediately told us to "get the f*** out of here" because we were temporarily blocking the way to the back of his garage while loading the van onto the transport (as we were finishing up). Mind you, the Uhaul spokesman with the cane told us to put the car transport where we had it, it wasn't our fault, we were told it was okay. As we were checking the safety straps before we left, he came back out to us and yelled "you need to get the f*** out of here". He didn't ask politely like a rational person would, he berated us to leave. This was after we dropped $600+ on Uhaul. Not only that, but he was yelling at us while other people's children, including my own son, were around. The ultimate disrespect was as we were getting into our cars and about to go, he comes out one last time to tell us off, threatening us if we didn't leave, like he didn't see us all getting into our cars. I really believe he was drunk, high or both. I mean, we weren't there longer than 10 min after he arrived... Seriously. It's completely unacceptable for a business owner to berate people who are paying customers (Uhaul was on his lot and they pay him for the space). Luckily for Mr. Balcom, my step father didn't hear the threatening things he said to me or my mother before we left or the owner would of needed someone else to pick his teeth up from off the ground. His disrespect even prompted me to yell back, and I'm not nearly as violent as my step father can be. He got off lucky there, especially in a stand-your-ground state. Case and point, he probably does this often and gets away with it. His employees probably secretly hate him. Do your business somewhere else, not here. Never here. Just Google 'Party rentals near Milford, NH' and do your business elsewhere. read more

Excellent experience for the inexperienced! We needed to rent some landscaping equipment since we are new to the area and our lawn completely died last year. Shelly was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in assisting us with figuring out what would work best for our situation. She was quick to recommend without "selling" or pushing equipment on us. We ended up renting a couple of machines for our lawn. When our seed-slicer ran into issues, she triaged over the phone and then offered a replacement for us if we brought it back. We ended up making do without it, but she still offered excellent customer service when we turned in the non-functioning machine and quickly explained to us the issue. Great experience and very reasonable pricing. Ray helped us with explaining the machinery and made loading and unloading a breeze. We've found our go-to for landscaping machine rentals. And are definitely eyeing some of the party rentals for the future. Pros: customer service, pricing, knowledgeable staff Cons: for a Saturday, there were times when they were a bit busy and didn't seem to have a lot of extra staff available read more

We have rented UHaul trucks here probably 6 times and have NEVER had a problem!!!! This last time we rented on a Sunday. Their Sunday hours are shorter but the have a drop box so we were able to use the truck without worrying about getting it back in time. Total plus for us! read more

Staff is hit or miss depending on who's in. There's always a customer in there upset about something. Broken gear, gear not there when its supposed to be. OK place to buy boxes or supplies. If you must rent from here, plan extra time to pick up the equipment, read everything, and don't trust anything anyone tells you. You'll probably be OK. Some people seem to think the place is OK. I used to frequent the place but after it finally happened to me, i'll probably go elsewhere at least a little while. read more

Do not use this company. I rented a piece of equipment that broke down after an hour of hours of use. A belt broke. It happens. But when I returned it I requested a half day of credit so I could finish the job. The clerk said that I needed to call when the equipment broke and because I didn't call I was not due a credit. Mind you, I was not asking for a refund, I just wanted access to the machine in working order, that I had already paid for. Eventually, after being accused of having a bad attitude, I was able to secure a half day credit. So today I go back, get the same piece of equipment, bring it home and after 15 minutes, it stops working. Not the belt, something else. No way to start it. I then called the company, received further instructions and it still wouldn't start. So basically I spent over $100 for nothing. In conclusion, the service staff is rude and disrespectful and the equipment is not reliable. read more

We have rented tractors from Balcon Brothers twice. Both times we were extremely pleased. The pricing was fair, the equipment arrived on time (in one case we even had the tractor for an extra 1/2 day at no charge due to scheduling), the equipment was in excellent condition, and the customer service was good. As a small business owner myself, I am very aware how much stock is now placed in online reviews, and wanted to let it be known we would recommend them to our friends. read more
