I planned a cute little outing for my mother to make charm bracelets at Balboa Gold, which is located inside the SoCo shopping area. They have a small selection of gold charms and an even smaller selection of silver charms. We walked in mid-afternoon on a Saturday, and it was empty. It was so peaceful digging through charms to build a bracelet. The biggest flaw is that they have a very limited selection of bracelet and necklace options to choose from. We ended up selecting a bracelet and a bag charm. Not sure the value for everything is the best, as it ended up being quite pricey for two charm bracelets. I had a permanent bracelet from another location and wanted to get a second one. I found balboa gold online and decided to make an appointment for permanent bracelets. The website is a little misleading because you need to put $15 as a down payment but because it's an "online order" I was also charged a shipping fee. When I arrived, the shop was relatively easy to find. It's located in like a marketplace with other shops in the area. It gives the pop up shop kinda feel but elevated and cute. The shop itself is really cute and I saw there were options to make charm bracelets which looked like fun. The bracelets were affordable. The only downside is that there were very limited options for the gold fill permanent bracelets. Unfortunately, they don't have pictures on their website so there was no way for me to know what they had. The bracelets were also chunkier than I wanted, but I already put a down payment in so I needed to select something. The person working was super sweet and the service was quick. They didn't provide any instructions for after care which was a surprise. At previous places, I received an instruction card and a cleaning cloth. I cannot recommend Balboa Gold enough!! My bestie took me here for my birthday so we could design charm necklaces together and it was such a great experience. We made an appointment online in advance and showed up at our time. You start out by choosing your chain and the length that you want. Then you move to the charms! They have soooo many charms it was nearly impossible to choose they were so cute. I love that they had the option of a finer and more expensive charm selection, as well as a more inexpensive section. After you lay out your selected charms how you would like, the lovely ladies working their got to work in attaching them. They told us to come back in about 15 minutes so we wandered around the awesome mini mall situation that Balboa Gold is nestled in. We are so obsessed with how our necklaces turned out! We opted for the finer charms so they would last forever so it was a bit pricey for two, however I have basically worn mine every day since and don't planning on stopping anytime soon! read more

There are quite a few charms to select from and I believe the owner gets some new ones constantly, so every necklace or bracelet you make is definitely one of a kind. Found this gem on Tik Tok, made an appointment online for 4 of us girls, slots are 20 min each and is $15 per slot that goes towards your purchase. They recommend booking back to back slots if you are more than one person. They have a ton of gorgeous chains that are gold filled, you can do necklace or charm bracelets. They have gold plated and gold filled charms. The owner Savannah was the one who helped us out and created our pieces. The experience was so much fun and the necklaces/bracelets came out so beautiful. My necklace total was about $120, but I did get a few of the gold filled charms which were more expensive than the plated- which was just my preference for longevity. i think this spot is so cute. it's easy to find, parking is great, and the customer service is amazing as well. i haven't made any purchases so far other than a diy charm bracelet. there are two types of charms you can buy - higher end charms and lower end charms. i find that the sales associates are really honest and transparent in letting you know the lower end charms tarnish frequently. which is why they allow customers to come back for free replacements. the prices are high and i don't normally pay this much for a bracelet, but good customer service and store policy always gets me every time and it's worth paying for in my opinion. i've been back a few times and the charms are refreshed pretty often. i've never had a bad experience here! read more
