As a former service member I suffer with autoimmune disorder, fibromyalgia and low Testosterone levels which I feel were brought on by my exposure to burn pits. I also have a history of shoulder, hand, and back surgeries which in May, 2022 forced me to undergo an L4/L5/SI back fusion surgery to remedy degenerative discs and herniations. As soon as it was permitted after I began physical therapy (PT). I have severe neuropathy to my left leg/foot while my right foot also remains numb. Needless to say my balance and other motor skills are severely delayed. While making some progress with PT, I began experiencing a new numbness now in my fingers, hands and arms. For every good day, I experienced 3 bad days where I just wanted to stay in bed, be left alone and suffer through the head and body aches all with living with the uncertainty of not knowing if I can regain any quality of life. I was at 6 month post surgery when I Iearned of Dr. Garoppo' s practice from someone I met at PT. Based on a glowing recommendation for Dr. Garoppo, I immediately contacted her office and was surprised when I received a call after hours to discuss my health issues. I was even more excited when she scheduled me for the very next day. At her request to garner a better understanding of my overall medical and at times mental health conditions, Dr. Garoppo, myself and my Physical Therapy Dr., engaged in a conference call which resulted in them garnering a better understanding of my physical ailments and ongoing limitations. This effort enabled Dr. Garoppo to develop a treatment plan that benefited my overall medical and mental well being. Dr. Garoppo's ability to listen, develop an understanding of my ailments and then readjust the treatment when necessary is outstanding. I remain impressed by Dr. Garoppo' s knowledge and skillet of acupuncture and her utilization of myofascial therapy to reduce my pain. To my fellow veteran's who may be researching holistic healing measures, Dr. Garoppo is contracted with the Veteran's Affairs Office and the level of care she provides to me, and several of my fellow veteran's in nothing shy of miraculous. At the time of the visit, I was wearing a temporary splint placed by urgent care and was experiencing pain and swelling. I informed Dr. Graham that I did not feel the splint was fitting properly and asked for guidance regarding appropriate immobilization. I was told that the splint "looked fine." When I expressed continued concern, I was advised to purchase a brace from Amazon and to work on making a fist so that my hand would not become stiff. I was not provided with a specific recommendation regarding the type of brace that should be used, nor was I given detailed instructions regarding activity restrictions or warning signs to monitor. Most concerning, I was instructed to return in four months. I specifically asked whether the intended follow-up interval was four weeks, and I was informed that it was indeed four months. A four-month follow-up appointment was subsequently scheduled. As a healthcare professional myself, I understand the importance of preventing stiffness and promoting recovery. However, I left the appointment feeling dismissed and without clear guidance regarding the management of an acute fracture. My concerns were not adequately addressed, and I remain troubled by the absence of earlier follow-up or imaging to evaluate healing and alignment. I respectfully request that this encounter be reviewed and that I be provided with clarification regarding the rationale for the treatment plan and follow-up interval. We have found two other AO Drs in our area, but their level of care just does not compare to that of Dr. Mark Pierce Chiropractic. Their more all-natural approach to chiropractic care (Atlas Orthogonal) was known to my husband but foreign to me. I instantly felt relaxed and comfortable with Dr. Pierce. My X-rays showed that my spine was indeed out of alignment, most likely due to everyday living - poor posture and sleep habits. And Dr. Pierce instantly noticed that my atlas was "red hot" and asked if I ever felt discomfort there (at the base of the neck). I said, "Of course, all of the time. I get migraines at least twice a month, but I thought that was just me." Well after my first adjustment, I felt relief in that area for the first time since I was a young teenager. I had become so used to that constant pain and migraines that I did not know what it felt like to be relieved of that pressure. He promptly scheduled me for an infusion this week and that's what I had today. There is plenty of parking, a large lobby, and even a vending machine for snacks if your infusion takes a while like mine did! Let me preface I have a horrible fear of needles, so this kind of place is a nightmare for me. When I told the nurses and the people who draw blood, they were so quick to make me as comfortable as possible. Kris, the nurse manager, was able to find a vein in my baby sized veins. She was so patient, kind, and compassionate. I get anxiety about being a burden since I can be difficult, but she didn't make me feel that way for a second. Another honorable mention is the nurse I had, Jasmine, who was so attentive and supportive. She explained things very thoroughly and made me feel confident in the treatment I was getting. I couldn't have asked for a better nurse. Overall, if you come here, be assured you'll have some great care with professionals who lead with compassion and patience.
