Located in the very quiet Piazza Cinque via, just down a small alleyway from Piazza Mercato, this…read moreis a lovely indoor or outdoor spot for a delicious lunch! We opted for one of the 'fixed' lunch options. So. Much. Food! All good.
Not included on the menu, first up was a quiche with a very light filo like crust. Mild and tasty I enjoyed this very much in both texture and taste.
First course was Veal terrine with summer salad. This was huge and could easily have served as my lunch alone. Beautifully presented, the dish included a small portion of tart jam that went well with the terrine. A house dressing was added by the hostess just before serving.
Next course: Pasta. The waitress served it from a huge platter. There was so much pasta there for two people! I stopped her short as there were many more courses to go. The pasta was firm with a good texture and the sauce was 'spicy', but not at all 'hot'. Very tasty,
Course three was cold roast beef, sliced thin served with mustard on the side. The meat was lean and the mustard a perfect accompaniment. This was served with fresh tomatoes, cut in wedges and dressed in the same house dressing on the summer salad. The tomatoes were fresh, crisp and sweet. The taste of summer.
A cheese course was next. By this time we were getting very, very full. There were two 'hard' cheeses and two soft, two jams and two thin slices of a hearty date nut bread. The soft cheeses, spread on the bread and topped with a bit of jam was delightful. The hard cheeses had nice strong flavors, one of them was a bit smoky. A very nice course that we both enjoyed very much.
Finally, gelato! Lemon to be exact, which we love, served over a generous portion of blueberries and topped with sweet whipped cream. The lemon and blueberry combination was refreshing on a hot summer afternoon. We really could not ask for a more refreshing summer dessert. Cookies were also placed on the table at this time and we both opted to have an espresso to move along the digestion!
The 'fixed' meal was €26/person, along with cover charge, a large bottle of water, wine and beer all came to €64 total. I would definitely come back to this restaurant where they know 'The art of knowing how to eat' as proclaimed on their menu.
