Delicious food, great beer selection, crazy fast service, great atmosphere. Nothing bad to say.

Came here last night with a client while in town on business. It was AMAZING. The spicy margarita was unbelievable, guac was chunky & tasty and the tacos were to die for. Service was great, ambiance was great, I'll definitely be back. read more

Damned good tacos! I went there for a work function because this kind of place is really not my thing. I don't like the neighborhood or the yuppies that hang out there. But the tacos, man... the tacos are amazing! That ghost pepper salsa is incredibly flavorful too -- not just hot! So if you can stomach all the yuppies and hipsters get some take out tacos and enjoy! read more

Best tacos and margs in Columbus IMO. Located in the very friendly Short North (Columbus, OH) area. They have a lot of different Tequilas so if you are a fan of that kind of liquor I would go to this place. The Chips and caso dip and great too. Prices and reasonable. I have only been here during the day so i can't give feedback for nightlife here. read more

The wait time is not accurate! If you're looking to eat within an hour of arrival Bakersfield is not the restaurant for you. Our estimated wait time was 1 hr and we ending up waiting for over 2. Highly disappointed with the hostesses and seating services read more

Great tacos and some of the best Gucamole I've tried in a restauraunt! I came in from out of town for the Arnold Classic, so I didn't know a whole lot about the place, but one of my friends from Columbus was raving about how good the food was. With the convention center in walking distance from Bakersfield, it was a great and easy spot to take a break from some of the madness of the Arnold. We were lucky enough to get there before the crowd hit, and was greeted and seated right away. Our waitress Amanda was awesome! She gave us a great breakdown of the menu and had a great sense of humor. I can't say enough good things about the service. She even recommended the gucamole which was a great choice and should definetly be ordered when you make a visit. I also ordered the short rib tacos which were very good! Had I not drank so much the night before, I would have ordered me a margarita, which I heard a lot of great things about, but I guess I'll save the for next time. If you're ever in Short North and want some great tacos, Bakersfield is the place to stop by. read more

The bartender girl here tonight told me "you need to speak English."

Had a great time at Bakersfield last night. THE best Sangria Rojo! We ordered the tacos carnitas and shrimp and it was great. Fun and lively atmosphere. read more

Spectacular experience! I had the best shrimp taco I've ever had! And my server (Alex) was fast, responsive, and very pleasent. I'll be coming back for sure. read more

*chefs kiss* Some of the best tacos in town and my favorite place for margaritas in the city. You won't be disappointed

best tacos I've ever had ! Service was super friendly, the environment is super fun. On weekends there's a big wait but it's so worth it read more

Bakersfield Short North - Best tacos I've ever had , the shrimp and fish tacos are the best !!! - Bars Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

Disappointed. I love the location in Cincy... but the service this night in the Columbus location was absolutely terrible.

Very tasty and not horribly expensive. Drinks get the bill higher for sure, but you almost have to have one of their wonderful margaritas! The food is great; it just doesn't taste like anything else. We stop in every time we're in town and can't wait to get back! read more

Alexis at the front door was very helpful and nice. Great margaritas and great atmosphere

Overall was not too pleased with this place, drinks were great! Definitely recommend this place if you're just going for a drink or two, the staff was cute as well! Ordered a queso for the app and it might be the worst thing I've ever ate. It had no flavor and the texture was like applesauce. It was so bad it turned me completely away from ordering food. read more

I came to Bakersfield last Saturday and the tacos and margaritas were excellent! Our server recommended the short rib and the shrimp and they were great. The only thing was the music was just a little loud. After dinner I left my credit card on the table and Kevin ran out to give it back to me, thank you so much! The service was excellent, highly recommend! read more

I drove past and was excited to have some good tacos and margarita. I didnt have any luck. Sat at the bar, ordered a house margarita. It was incredibly sour and void of any taste of tequila. I sent it back and asked for a beer. I ordered 2 tacos. Waited over 20 min and they never arrived. I asked to close out my bill and left. Bartender was very nice but I can't say much else. read more

I've always loved Bakersfield and had great food and service dang near every time but my visit this weekend was off the charts incredible. I'm a long time bartender and tend to gravitate there as a patron as well. I met Tim (I'm pretty sure it was his first day behind the stick!) and damn, that guy was born to sling drinks. Super friendly, knowledgeable about the beverage selection as well as the food menu and just a genuinely nice guy. Highly recommend grabbing a seat at the bar with Tim- if you're not sure who he is, it's the dude with the incredible mustache. read more

Nice place... Milanese sandwich they have is absolutely best chicken sandwich out there! Tacos should be $3 not $4 or should at least come with 2 tortillas (like in Mexico) and not just one. That way they would not break every time I bite them. Unlike guys who swallow the whole thing - I do have to bite mine a couple of times :) In summary - great food, nice atmosphere (except at night when it gets too full). read more

Terry is absolutely amazing. We are from out of town, and he has been so helpful. Thank you so much for your service!! The appetizers are great and the specials are unbeatable. Plus the service....thanks again terry! Hope to see you soon! read more

Good food and excellent service!!! Our server, Alexander, was awesome. It was our first time and he did a great job explaining the menu. We really loved the chips & guac, Baja shrimp tacos & margaritas! read more

Well I revisited this restaurant a couple days ago. I was joined by my better half and my son who had been with me previously on my first visit. We were immediately were seated and greeted with our server immediately took our drink orders and our appetizers which consisted of their delicious warm chips with fresh guacamole and the queso was awesome we loved how fresh the guacamole was and the queso was sooooo cheesy! This time around I could actually discern the flavors from both of the salsas which was a huge improvement from my previous visit because I could not discern any flavor from either. Fir my main course I retried the pastor taco and tried the short rib taco. Yumm what wasn't included last time with the pastor taco this time was the chunks of pineapple which made this taco even better than it should be. Wow the short rib has become one of my new favorites! My hubby said to mention that they had the best margaritas in the city so that's huge praise from Mr Margarita yes I can wholeheartedly say this was a great dining experience that we would revisit again when we are i the area! You should too! read more

I've been to Bakersfield a number of times and was very excited to take my mom and some friends for the first time. Once again, the food did not disappoint! The Baja Shrimp Taco was everyone's favorite, and generally three tacos seemed a good number for each hungry person. Our waiter, Travis, was excellent. He was friendly, engaging, humorous, and truly made the experience feel personal and not just like a robot was waiting on us. Thank you, Travis and everyone at Bakersfield-- we will be back!! read more

Great deals on daily shots, which vary based on the day. Decent price for a beer as well. Queso has an interesting texture but delicious. They bring out bottles of a red sauce and salsa verde, the salsa verde is AMAZING! The tacos are like the average street taco, filling and simple. Wait staff was friendly and accommodating. read more

Great margaritas and awesome tacos! The bartender, Ashley, was extremely friendly and very helpful with her knowledge of the menu. Management was also very welcoming and helpful. Definitely going back! read more

This place is a must for their guacamole and one house marg (your lips will be too puckered out from the bitter-sweetness after one of these babies though), if you can find a place to stand this is. Other than that, go somewhere else! You'll have a long wait to order tacos that are served "sushi style" to the entire table & pay way too much for mediocre food. Does anyone else place an order at a restaurant & instantly forget what the name of their dish was called?! Yeah...my friends & I do too which causes an awkward dining experience here. This place stresses me out and doesn't have the yummy food I want to fill up on or wait/pay for. read more

When the situation is FOOD vs SERVICE (and food is great) - go back for a second helping. That's just what I did with Bakersfield Short North. I'm so glad I did. A buddy of mine met me there on a weeknight around 7:30PM. Bakersfield Short North was busy busy but we got a table pronto. We even met the restaurant's night manager, Alex, who is a cool cat from Cincinnati and loves the job he's in. The menu played out perfectly. Chips & queso with the add-ons of beans and jalapenos came out hot and tasted great as a run-up to a light, tasty taco dinner. The individual size tacos (soft-shell and 6" in size - nice!) were; Mole, Fish, Conchita Pibil, and Short Rib. The variety was mouth-watering and each tasted great. We had our fill of three each and still had some chips & queso left over. Service was excellent. Our server kept our non-alcohol drinks filled, didn't over stay visits but was always near enough to where we felt comfortable. I had a great time and with tasty food edibles.... terrific. And THE SEARCHERS was on the HDTV (in case you're a John Wayne fan which I am - fun fun fun). So... GO to Bakersfield Short North. I think if you like mexicali foods and a warm, inviting atmosphere then it's a no brainer. read more

An evening that started out with great promise ended on a very frustrating, negative note. I went to a networking event at Level, had a delicious chocolate martini, and met some new people. As three of us who had just met were leaving, we realized we were hungry and decided to go over to Bakersfield. At some point, one of the other two said he was going outside to smoke. Quite some time elapsed, and we kept wondering where he was. We kept chatting until we both were ready to leave. When giving our cards to pay, the bartender asked about the guy with us and we said he went to smoke and we had no idea where he was. About 10 minutes later I asked why we had not yet been cashed out, and I was told, "the other bartender said you told him you wanted to wait to cash out until your friend got back." This, of course, was an extremely lame lie. We had said we had no idea when the guy was returning, and that we wanted to leave. I'm not sure what game that was supposed to be. We were then told we were responsible for his $50 bill. This resulted in a back-n-forth with us trying to explain that we didn't know this guy and simply were not going to pay for his bill. After a couple of minutes arguing with this lady (who was already pretty obnoxious and rude the whole time prior to this), we asked to speak to the manager. When the manager came out, I was shocked by his attitude and the manner in which he spoke to us. He kept going on and on about how we were responsible for this other guy, repeatedly trying to outsmart us with *gotcha* comments and questions. I simply couldn't believe how this whole ordeal turned into some spectacle in the middle of the bar. Being 38, I have to say I've never been talked to like some juvenile delinquent, and that is exactly how this whole debacle played out. The manager's snide reply when we said we barely knew the guy and weren't responsible for him was that "well, you sure looked like you had a good time with him." When I asked if I was liable for the bill of other people sitting next to us at the bar--to whom we also spoke that evening--he seemed deflated a bit. Finally, the lady I was with literally started screaming at the manager to let us pay so we could leave. Eventually, it seems we wore him down and he reluctantly gave us our credit cards so we could leave (with continued attitude and commentary). For the life of me, I cannot understand how people running a business think they can treat customers like this...especially ones who weren't drunk or rowdy or anything other than wanting to pay for what they ordered and go home. read more

Food was very good but the service was excellent. Sergio was fast and did a great job of explaining everything.

Even this Californian is happy with the tacos. Great vegetarian options, and the carnivores loved the shrimp tacos. Don't skip the question green salsa, both are worth the trip. And thumbs-up to server Fox, who took time to make recommendations and make our experience fantastic. Super Pride friendly, too! read more

This is a great restaurant for authentic and unique tacos. Where else can I go in Columbus and order a huitlacoche taco?!? I also love that they feature seasonal cocktails. Speaking of their cocktails, Terry and Grant are the best bartenders. Their cocktails are always on point and no matter how busy they are, they are always sociable and professional. The service industry needs more bartenders like them! read more

This place is magical. I cannot say enough nice things. It's rare to find a bar that excels in customer service as well. I have not seen a group of bartenders who work more seamlessly behind the bar than this crew. I believe the one girl bartender's name is Lindsey (sp?) she probably served 4 guests while still holding a conversation with me. I have dreams about the short rib taco & guac it's that good- every time. The manager was also very professional and was working equally as hard as the employees which is an added bonus to their already impressive service/speed of service. It's so nice to go in and enjoy your experience around a great group of hard working people! read more

I had heard good things about this place, finally got the opportunity to check it out. The food was great, shared the chips and guacamole and had a couple tacos (Baja shrimp and Al Pastor) which were both delicious! Our server was very helpful in his explanations and recommendations. We didn't get to have a margarita, will have to try one next time. I would definitely recommend this place! read more

Had 4 different tacos here, all solid. The mole taco was was mildly spicy and deeply savory, the cochinita pibil was much spicer but not insane. The huitlacoche taco was deliciously earthy and the pork belly pastor was terrific. My one gripe is that the tacos are pretty hefty and only come with one tortilla making them messy to eat. The Paloma was damn good. Everything was pricey but it's the short north so duh it's gonna be. Service was great and super fast. read more

Have been here several times over the past year and a half. Tacos are always good.. I go for the fish and short ribs. They are however somewhat small, so if you have a big appetite.. order 2-3 and plan to get an appetizer or order more later. Drinks are good.. I am not a margarita person, so I get beer or their paloma which is small but tasty. Overall probably a little overpriced for me but the tacos are always good. read more

There are some rootin tootin tacos at Bakersfield. From the sophisticated streets of Short North comes a restaurant that brings the Rustic Wild West back with style and tacos! I have been wanting to try this place ever since I passed by it while strolling in the over the rhine district during my last trip to Cincinnati. So clearly I was ecstatic returning one year later to Columbus and discovering they had added a location there. There are plenty of tables set up and a nice outdoor patio. This place is huge and gives you a lot of room to move around. They give complimentary chips and salsa but we also ordered their tasty guac. The guac was packed with flavor but a little on the chunky side, which did not bother me but i know can bother others. The tacos I ordered were the short rib and the shredded chicken. The short rib was delicious, but my chicken wasn't particularly tasty to me. My friends ordered the fish and pork tacos and were really satisfied with their choices! The ambience is really cool, rustic, and cowboy-ish which is a fun change from the upscale restaurants that line the streets of short north. read more

I've been a fan of their OTR location down in Cincinnati, so I was thrilled to see Bakersfield was coming to the Short North. Opening night had a great atmosphere! Best Mexican restaurant I have ever been too. The quac was amazing, The shirt rib was incredible, and my absolute favorite was the spicy jalapeño Margarita. The margarita was unreal. We were only in Columbus for a few days traveling, and It was all I could talk about! Best part, super inexpensive, for the quality of food and the atmosphere. The servers were super polite as well. read more

Sure, Bakersfield can get super packed on weekend evenings, leading to 1-2 hour waits and yelling across the table throughout dinner. But there is no denying that the food here is quality. Start with the queso with jalapenos. The tacos are really all excellent but so are the tortas, both the milanesa and short rib. Huge sandwiches that are packed with meat. I feel the tortas are totally underrated -- gotta spread the word. They are amazing and you should eat them. read more
