First time visiting Columbus and happened on this place. The tacos are out of this world good! We had a Mole, fish taco, and three pork belly pastor tacos... They were all great, but the pork belly pastor was unbelievably good. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend! read more

Placed an order for Uber Eats. Total =$31 plus. This was for three taco orders and one chips and guacamole. Received ONE order and chips and guacamole. Buyer beware! Ripped off! Be in contact with your credit card company! read more

Met an out-of-towner friend here. I had a bite of the posole, which was very good--definitely a nice, heavy winter meal. And I had the short rib tostada. Interestingly, I've never had a tostada and I wasn't even super sure what short ribs were (I'm not a beef eater for the most part, but nothing really piqued my interest on the menu that night). It was really good. I also had 2 palomas, which tasted very crisp. My friends had a mixture of tacos and said they were good. They also had guacamole which they said was ok, but that the chips were much too thin so that they broke nonstop. My only complaint is that for 2 drinks and a tostada, it was $30. That seemed a little pricey. Other than that, I'd recommend. read more

This place has the best tasting taco's. I feel like 3-4 taco's and a drink would be the perfect amount to order for just one person. My husband did say this place was overpriced, but It didn't bother me because the taco's were delicious. We took our friends here to get a quick bite before the hockey game and they left full & happy! read more

Bakersfield's slogan is "Taco's, Tequila and Bourbon". If that's what you are into this is definitely a place to go. I'm a bourbon person and Bakersfield has plenty of the brown stuff from which to choose. Yes, the really top stuff might not be here (but then again where can you find Pappy/Stagg, etc), but there is enough. I don't do tequila, but they have boatloads. They have a shot of day for $3 which has been on different occasions such bourbons as Bulleit and Four Roses. Can't beat that deal. I'd' been waiting for this place to open for months since it's in my "bubble" and I've been coming here since Day One. The staff is very friendly. The food is tremendous and certainly not as overpriced as some in the Short North. I'm a "sit at the bar"-type of person, so I really can't comment on the service at the table, but I've never had any problem getting drinks or food from the bartenders. Yes, the place can get crazy crowded at times. Hey, it's new, just reviewed in the Dispatch, and it's the Short North. You know, the same type of thing that is happening up the road at the 'grilled cheese' place shall not be named (and the wait is much longer). Don't want to deal with it, just wait awhile for the 'buzz' to die down. Meanwhile, I'll be at the bar enjoying some bourbon. read more

My friend and I come into Bakersfield at least twice a week. Trevor and Grayson are by far the most friendly of managers you'll ever meet and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. If you don't want to go wrong...premium margaritas and the short rib tacos are a MUST. Oh, and of course the guacamole is to die for. From first dates, to dinner with friends and drinks with co-workers, this place is the number one hot spot in the short north. read more

Tried this place on Saturday night for the fame of it in the short north! 1. We had 2 margaritas that were extremely sour and tasted exactly like a cheap margarita mix from Walmart. "House margaritas". 2. We tried one of each taco they had on the menu that were served completely cold and tasteless that my buddy made a comment " I feel like we're dining at Taco Bell". 3. The bartenders stoned faces was the hit. They give you the feeling that they're doing you a favor by serving you. Lol! 4. Having a single bathroom in a such busy area is not a plus. Had to wait about 10 minutes in line. 5. Place was full of underage looking kids and college students who are very loud and keep bumping into everyone around. read more

Had the nicest waiter and the food was amazing! As soon as we got the check, an older woman with short hair came up to us and told us to leave because they had a reservation. It was so rude. We weren't waiting around or anything and were just signing our names. Our waiter apologized (he was so sweet and I wish I remembered his name!) and let us use the employee restroom. Great place but terrible person working there. read more

This is the best true Mexican I have ever had, and I lived in Austin for 9 years. The fish tacos and mole tacos are excellent. The short rib tacos were a bit dry. Also try the black beans and absolutely get the guacamole, truly amazing! read more

A cool place to have a couple drinks. Good looking crowd. Classic westerns playing on the tvs. Attentive and friendly servers.

Ate here last night for the first time. We had to wait an hour and a half for a table (one of the beer barrels by the window that were very difficult sit at and feel comfortable). The drinks were good while we waited, and the tacos were just alright, I did love the chips and guacamole. I may go back again, just don't think it was worth the wait, so I would not go so late on a Saturday for dinner. But it was packed, so they're doing something right I guess. read more

Soooooo amazing! Pastor taco is thee best! Best fresh guac in town! Awesome margaritas!

First of all, the name of this place does not match the menu (which is mostly Mexican). Regardless, this place was great! Food was authentic. I sampled a few of the tacos and they were all delicious. I have to say though that my favorite was the Short Rib. They also had a nice selection of drinks to offer. Went with the seasonal margarita (watermelon) which really hit the spot. Only suggestion I have for this establishment is to offer complementary chips and salsa. It's a given at any Mexican restaurant. read more

Best. Tacos. Ever. They're fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Everything you could want. I've been to Condados (also in Short North area) and it honestly doesn't compare. Bakersfield also has the most amazing salsa verde. It's bursting with lime and cilantro. Love it. read more

So many reviewers spoke about the Cochinita Pilbil tacos, which I could honestly care less about, but thank god for the person that mentioned the one with the pork belly...that one was utterly delicious! Also, thank god we picked up the spicy margarita- I ordered a pitcher for the two of us. And while I would not recommend that as a Monday night dinner choice, I would not second guess it for our dinner! Guac was more lemony and more chunky than I do it. But it kept us going with that pitcher. The server who helped out was utterly sweet, and I feel terrible for not remembering her name. read more

I've been to the location in Cincinnati as well as this location in Columbus. Both have not disappointed with the quality of food. A semi-trendy place that is great for groups or a date. I personally must insist on the guacamole paired with 2-3 of their small tacos. I've never had an option I did not enjoy. Service is always great and it is a staple of the Short North. I recommend it often to people visiting the area and will continue to do so. Enjoy the full bar and plan to have a great time. There is many places to choose from in the area and Bakersfield should be considered in the top 10 for food & drinks. read more

Headed back to Bakersfield for another round. I knew I would get redemption from my last **** review, and I was right. I think that missing star got put back into place when they waiter came to the table, and it was Ty, again. Wonderful service. If I could get him every time, I would! The food was great, had the Chicken Chorizo Tostada and a Pork Belly Taco, DELICIOUS! Great Service with a great waiter (seriously, Ty is great!), plus delicious queso, brought back the amazing 5 Star Service I've come to expect from Bakersfield! read more

I'm from Southern California, where we are a bit spoiled by great Mexican food, so when I was in Columbus for work and the group I was with suggested we go to dinner here, my first thought was "really? Mexican food in Ohio?" To my surprise, the food was great. Most of our group ordered tacos, which they had a great variety of and all were delicious. The drinks were good and the service was fantastic. If I ever ended up back in Columbus, I would definitely go back. read more

Dear locals and touristy alike, please do not be deceived by the sign they says they validate parking. They don't! I only came in here because of the sign. No time limits posted. False advertising!!! Even if you wanted to try you luck, good luck every seeing your bartender after your first drink and the bathrooms... disgusting! Pee everywhere, hand dryer didn't work, and no toilet patter paper in the roll. Can't wait in invite my friends to see Columbus's finest lol read more

I love Bakerfield. The food is great. I miss one menu item (Bistec Tacos) but the other items are great also

Bakersfield is DELICIOUS. You NEED to get the Short Rib Taco. MUST. The fish taco is pretty radical as well as the margaritas. Nothing really to complain about except for the Corn Chowder. My advice: skip it. It's pretty bland. Overall it has a good base to it but it definitely needs some kick and more creaminess in my opinion (and maybe a dollop of a cayenne sour cream or mexican crema and some cilantro). If you haven't been yet, go and get your ass there cuz' you're missin' out! read more

Bakersfield Short North - Summer tacos on a lazy Sunday afternoon :) - Bars Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

I've been to two different Bakersfield's, Columbus OH and Charlotte NC. They seem to prefer stand out locations on happening street corners. The Columbus location is in Short North, and it seems to fit in well! I always love how they keep the windows (almost garage doors) open so that you get more of a patio feel. The ambiance of Bakersfield is really neat. Everything is Western with a cool modern twist, from the menu to the music to the old B&W movies playing on the TVs. Now what's really important, THE FOOD. Hands down favorite tex-mex food I've ever eaten. Please come here hungry. Try everything. From the chips and salsa (the verde is my favorite), to the Johnny salad (the apple cider vin is to die for), to all of the various tacos they offer. They make the tortillas in house, and it's one of those places where it really makes a difference. The tacos are rather small though, and a la cart, I normally eat about 2-3. Oh! And make sure you try the margaritas, salt on the rim and an extra lime. read more

Bartender from la thought he was too good. Super rude. Bad service. Don't come here if u are in a good mood. And from out of town. Gets offended if u ask for Red Bull. And kicked us out. Very reasonable for a trendy short north restaurant. We loved LOVED the chips and guacamole - amazing guac and a hearty serving for $6. We ordered 3 tacos each, the pollo rojo, the corn veggie one and the fish taco. The fish taco was ok, just subpar compared to other fish tacos I've had and the other tacos here. However the other 2 were SPLENDID - delicious and the right size for tapas. I love that you can order what you like to go together. For a light dinner, share chips and guac w one person and get 1 taco. I also had the house margarita which was great and served in a cute mason jar. The service was also very attentive despite the crowd. Definitely will revisit this place! read more

We were lucky to get a table big enough for 5 of us on a Wednesday night - this place was packed! We enjoyed some margaritas before sitting down for tacos. The margaritas were delicious and served in charming mason jars. The tacos were very good (although I do prefer the tacos at Local Cantina...) and I would definitely return for more. It was a cool place to be with a young crowd, as long as you don't mind crowds and waiting for a bit. The service was also really good. The salsa bottle top came off and unloaded salsa all over someone in my group's plate. They happily brought a new taco without any question. read more

I had a great experience here. I was lucky enough to basically walk in and sit down. The staff was great, and the food was awesome. I tried the pollo rojo and cochinita tacos... Fantastic! Warning-- be ready to spend $3-4 on each taco, and expect the place to be loud. read more

We love this place and it's often the first place we consider when discussing dinner options. Highlights include their salsa verde, queso, chicken chorizo tostada and basically any taco on the menu. Favorite tacos are the chochinita pibil, the mole and the pollo rojo. We've never had anything bad here although there is usually a decent wait for a table and a long line for the bathrooms. The margaritas are strong but pricey which is why we typically get the cool boot of PBR for $2. If you haven't been already you should definitely check out Bakersfield. The food is worth the wait! read more

Four stars is very very good for me. Five is rare. I will return to Bakersfield. I am from NYC area and when I am relaxing for a length of time I like my food and my drinks to be well made and tasteful. Bakersfield did both very well. I had a premium margarita and then a couple sangrias. Very tasty. I had the guacamole and three tacos: rajas, fish, and rojo. Very tasty. My wife had a Johnny salad. She said too much dressing and she should have had it on the side. Otherwise a very good salad. Attractive clientele and workers. Very friendly service. Interesting decor. Nice atmosphere. I ended up getting a parking ticket because we stayed too long. That is a compliment. ;-) read more

Best real [dolled up]street tacos in town served in a fun, clean, and exciting environment. Enough said. Real street tacos in Mexico our south Americas of course, are not as dolled up because those serving them need to make it simple, easy, and feed their families. Get em street side and they usually serve it with onions, cilantro, lime, and if you're lucky, 1-2 salsa choices. They also rarely make their own tortillas. Some street carts do and those are amazing too. read more

This is more of a 3.5, I wanted to give it 4, since they genuinely tried to give good service. We were seated right away, and the host seemed surprised to have a table ready. Awesome! Didn't get greeted right away, no problem, the manager came up and took our drink order. Made sure to make us feel welcome and make up for the greet. Things were (almost) fine from there. Spicy Margarita is a must try if you like the heat. Strong too, as it should be at 9 dollars. My favorite of the tacos were the short rib. The house made tortillas make them even better. Came time for the check, it was split. Someone else took our checks instead of the server to cash out, great in theory to save time. My friend was charged for my bill (and the expensive marg she did not get) I had to venmo her the difference. Oh well, it was still a good atmosphere and great food/drinks. read more

Came here on July 4th and it was super crowded but we managed to get a seat right away. Our waiter was super nice and he did not seem annoyed or mean whatsoever. It was our first time there so he made sure to go into detail about everything. The chips n guac is PHENOMENAL!! Homemade and the chips were hot!! I got the chicken quesadillas (not on the menu but still got it) and it was good, not amazing, but good! My mother got a chicken taco and she said it was great as well. Overall it's a very cheap, busy and crowded place and I enjoyed it! I recommend! read more
