I really like when strangers call me "honey," "sweetie," "darling" or, especially from Spanish…read morespeakers, "mija." (This one has the added benefit of making me feel young.) The woman who rang up my two bottles of wine at this Kroger called me "darling" no fewer than five times during our four-minute interaction, and I loved it. As if we were continuing a conversation we had left off earlier, she also jumped into the middle of a story about a man who was looking for tomato sauce. I didn't follow but just went with it all. By the time I left the grocery store, gripping a bottle of red in each hand like a wino, I felt like I had gained a friend in Wheeling. My Kroger visit happened because I tried to visit a wine store in downtown Wheeling that didn't actually exist. Undeterred, I stopped into Kroger to see what was what in the wine section. They were actually having a huge sale, with many good bottles under $10, so I grabbed a Malbec and a Cabernet. The sale was so good that I wanted to go back and grab a few more bottles, but I resisted. I was visiting from out of town, and there's only so much room in the car for wine. This Kroger is a little hidden from the road, and you need to make some turns to get into the parking lot. But once you get to it, it's a nice little Kroger with nice people.

I want to give a big shout-out to the Kroger on Mount DeChantal Road in Wheeling, WV. This store…read morestays extremely busy, and the amount of traffic they handle every day is no joke -- but you would never know it by how professional and kind everyone is. I deal with the crew there on a daily basis, and I can honestly say I've never had a rude encounter. Every employee is helpful, respectful, and works hard under pressure. Today, a young man named Avery went out of his way to help me out big time, and I really appreciated it. The whole team deserves recognition, and a lot of credit goes to the manager, Pat. He runs a tight ship and clearly leads by example. It shows in the attitude and work ethic of the entire crew. In a time when good customer service can be hard to find, this store consistently gets it right. Thank you all for the hard work -- it truly doesn't go unnoticed. ---

So. Maybe you found this review searching for BBQ. Why am I looking at a review for a grocery…read morestore? Because this place actually has incredibly great, authentic, low-and-slow BBQ. We're originally from the valley but lived in "the south" for 15 and started doing our own smoking while living in the Atlanta area. We moved back here for family reasons. All of our smokers are in storage. And we're admittedly spoiled BBQ-wise. Where can we find real, honest to God BBQ? There aren't many places to go. Then we go grocery shopping. There's a professional smoker outside the front entrance. Interesting. Then I see the ads in the store -- "Authentic Barbeque Smoked Daily On Site". I shake my head like any self-respecting smoking snob and think "Sure. Right. Probably dry, bland, and rubbery." and ignore it for a year or so. Then I run into the grocer's "smoking guy" and we chat about rubs, meats, and techniques. This guy actually sounds like he know what he's talking about. This isn't just some "brainstorm" from corporate HQ that thought, "Hey...BBQ's popular now...let's put a smoker out front so folks can smell that hickory coming in the front door, hire someone who's heard of BBQ, crank out some mediocre BBQ, and make some money!". He hands me copy of their smoking schedule and offers to give me a piece of smoked salmon to try, but we've already planned out our meals for the week. I told him I'd buy something in the next couple of weeks. I did. The smoked salmon. Blew my mind. Then my wife and I tried the wings, brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. Minds blown four more times. This sh**'s legit. That said, we found the smoked sausage and pork loins mediocre, so it's not perfect. Summary I'd put this stuff up against anything I'd find in the Atlanta or Columbus areas. Certainly better than Dickey's or City but not as good as Ray Ray's. I'm attaching a copy of the smoking schedule the guy gave me. They only do wings once a week and they don't do whole chickens (which I recommended they add to the schedule...they do rotisserie chickens, so why not smoked?). Go give it a try. They sell it in their "hot prepared food" section, near the deli, so it's take-home only. There are a few picnic tables out front if the weather's nice. But I think you'll be incredibly pleased at any rate. Riesbeck's of all places!! Who knew??

On Christmas Eve I stopped to pick up donuts and a cake to make breakfast and desert easy. The donuts were dry - it was unanimous. No one could swallow any of them without washing them down with coffee. They were a choking hazard. The cake was their checkboard cake - the minute you sliced it, the pieces all fall apart and the slice looked like someone hurled it at the plate. Too many misses here lately on quality - probably won't be stopping back anytime soon.

That's nice, I'm sure it's good." I would have missed out. Before going in, I talked to the guy outside doing the smoking. Needless to say, the man knows his craft. He knew they were good and he'd put them up against the best of them. And he'd win. I don't need to sit here and tell you about the penetrating smoke ring or the bark or the meat tenderness. If you know BBQ, you know what I'm talking about when I say this is off-the-hook, unbelievably good BBQ. No sauce - the real way to eat BBQ. There's only one little note to make. It's not bad, it's simply a characteristic of it being from a grocery store, who has to package it up. It's not fall-off-the-bone tender. It's almost there, but leaves a little firmness to the meat for cutting, handling and packaging. But please - don't believe me. Refuse to think that good BBQ would come from a grocery store. Then go try it. And come back and tell me I'm all wet. Enjoy!

I can't eat in a local restaurant because I'm spoiled. Plus, we're in the middle of moving/remodeling. Both of my smokers are in storage. There was one in Morristown, one that I wrote a 5 star review for, but it's moved from BBQ to Italian. What is a BBQ snob to do? Then we go grocery shopping at the Riesbeck's in St C. Good morning WalMart,     This Email concerns an ongoing corporate complaint that no one seems to…read morebe taking seriously. The complaint should come up under Lori Bolen with phone number 602-448-6735. We have been shopping at store #2199 since we moved here in 2020. We utilize the grocery pickup feature on a consistent basis. Over the last 6 months or so the service has become quite terrible. The current complaint concerns the amount of times you have to call the grocery pickup line before reaching a live person instead of a recording. This seems to be an ongoing issue that is not being addressed. I have had to actually get out of my car and walk up to the door where they bring the items out and check in with them, all the while cars that have pulled in after us have received their items and have left. My wife received an email last week informing her that WalMart was refunding the last order of $79.24 and while this was unexpected and appreciated, throwing money at the issue does not resolve the underlying problem. On our last visit on May 8th, around 8:30 pm, it took 33 phone calls to get our groceries. There should be a screenshot attached. An associate actually answered on the 8th call and informed us that they were running behind and it would be about 20 minutes. I said ok. After waiting ANOTHER 45 minutes I decided to call back. It took ANOTHER 24 phone calls to reach an associate who informed me that they were not going to be able to get our order until tomorrow because they would be closing in 30 minutes.Remember, it's only 9:30pm.  As you can imagine at this point I am totally unhappy but trying to remain civil. I went inside to speak to the grocery pickup manager. I said to him I thought you closed at 11pm not 10pm. He said they didn't have enough people to pull the orders. ANY manager that closes a store early should be immediately terminated. So I tell him it's Mothers Day weekend and we have family in for a couple days and I need my order. He says to me that I SHOULD GO PICK IT MYSELF. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. . After that statement I AM NO LONGER CIVIL. I raise my voice and ask to speak to a store manager. He informs me that he is the only manager there. I cannot believe that the grocery pickup manager is the only "MANAGER" in the store. I again tell him I need our groceries. He tells me I can either come back tomorrow or again pick them myself. I demand to get the corporate number for Bentonville, AR which he tells me he's not allowed to give it out. The only other number for corporate complaints gos to INDIA. That's utterly ridiculous. Not having a corporate complaint line that customers can call when there is a serious issue tells me that you don't care about your customers enough to help them. You just shuffle them off to INDIA where us older people can't hear or understand them. I told him I am going to take the time to file a formal complaint with WalMart and also the BBB and all of the review sites I can find. Then ALL OF A SUDDEN he says the order is ready. WOW.  But when I get home there are several items missing.  The wife is really fed up after this last encounter with your rude grocery pickup manager and is now shopping across the street at Kroger. You do not have the correct people in the proper positions. I don't know if you can't find good management or that you just don't care but your main store manager needs to get their act together or get REPLACED. This is undoubtedly one of the worst store experiences I have ever encountered. Dale and Lori Bolen142 Markatan St.,Flushing, Ohio 43977330-718-2510602-448-6735
