Old school meat market worth the trip. We bought a chicken bundle and couldn't resist buying some beef too. The kicker was we wanted a deli sandwich and they recommended their Italian sausage sandwich. It was awesome! I had mine with extra sauce peppers and onions and it was great. We will be back. read more

This place used to be so good, but it's sliding. The staff seem irritated to be there, and more irritated to answer questions. DO NOT order the filet mignon; or any other meat they don't take directly from the case in front of you. You will not get the pretty, fresh red cut of tenderloin in the case. They always go to the back to get this, and will have it packaged up before they come back to the front so you can't see it....this is for a reason. 3 times now I've gotten home to open up the filet and it's brown, and often slimy-OLD!!!! Finally I asked in store why the filet, one of the most expensive meats in the store, is constantly sourced from the back instead of the case and what you get is old. They sent the butcher out to talk to me, and he is the most overly AGGRESSIVE, nasty, yelling person to ever deal with a customer. He'll lie every way he can to convince you you are wrong about the old meat. First, the staff will tell you it's because it's "grain fed". Meat should NOT change to brown because it's grain fed....so I asked then why isn't ALL of the meat in the case brown, since it's all supposed to be grain fed from the same farm? They can't answer that, so then he side steps it to being "aged, dry rubbed". This meat has NO rub on it, it's plain red meat. I asked what it was supposed to be rubbed with, he can't answer. I asked why the meat I'm being given is dry rubbed with something and what is in the case isn't, he can't answer. If it's dry rubbed with something, why isn't that indicated on the signs or labels in the case--he can't answer, because it's NOT. But absolutely refuses to admit that the reason the filet is always browner than the fresh stuff in the case is just because it's old. It's disappointing because for the most part it's a lot better than the meats you get in local grocery stores in this little town, but pass on buying anything they aren't pulling directly out of the case in front of you, or you won't get what you paid for. read more

Miklas Meat Market - Are you kidding me?? This is not brown because it was "grain fed", DISGUSTING. - Meat Shops Near Me - Wheeling, West Virginia

There aren't enough good things to say about this shop. We are truly lucky that, here in little old Wheeling, we have such a delightful meat shop. Every time I've been there (and it has to be over fifty trips minimum), it is spotlessly clean (smelling of lemon-fresh cleaner). The meats are fresh and well cut. And the staff...every single person is friendly and prompt. You can tell when you go in a shop if the staff is happy to be there or just treading water until their shift is done. These folks obviously love their jobs, and that carries over into how they wait on their customers. If you're not a local but are reading this anyway, please make a point to shop here. There are so many delights, least of which are the fresh meats! PS, try their super-sharp cheddar...it's to die for. read more
