I have been a customer here for nearly two years and initially began shopping with the store after being offered a 10% discount in exchange for a collaboration. I fulfilled my part by posting a video and tagging the store in my social media story featuring the items. Last year, I had an uncomfortable experience when an older employee informed me that I did not have a discount on file. Although I had screenshots confirming that Vanessa (the marketing manager) from Bakers Express had approved the discount, the employee continued to deny it and followed me outside to my car to insist that I was mistaken. This interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and could have been handled more professionally. Despite this, I continued to shop here because it is convenient for last-minute supplies, although many items are priced higher than other suppliers. Most recently, I returned to stock up for Valentine's day and to redeem my 410 loyalty points for a 1lb bag of cacao melts. The same employee assisted me at checkout. When I asked about redeeming my points, she responded in Spanish but repeatedly said "huh" and acted as though she did not understand me when she had clearly spoken to me in English the day she followed me out to my car. At checkout, she made a visible face and appeared impatient while I was trying to clarify the redemption process. I then spoke to her in Spanish to avoid further confusion. She said she would redeem the points and told me to grab the chocolate, but when I returned, she stated they did not have it in stock. This could have been communicated before sending me back to the aisle. I want to emphasize that my experiences with other staff members have consistently been positive and professional. However, my interactions with this particular employee over the past few visits have felt unpleasant and unnecessarily dismissive. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as customer service consistency and professionalism are very important to loyal customers. read more

This place is amazing. I don't bake but my wife has been known to rustle up a Rice Krispy treat or two and dress them up. We stumbled upon this place by accident and decided to check it out. Basically, this place is like an adult bookstore for bakers. A big warehouse of baker's toys. Whatever your kink or baking orientation, they have. Pastry? Cookies? Cakes? Pies? Cake-cookie hybrids? Cross-baking tarts? Whatever you want they can probably help you get there. Want sprinkles?? Every single kind, I swear. Got a thing for cake boxes? The cardboard the cakes sit upon? Ooh-la-la!! Phyllo dough? Peel back then layers, girl (or boy) Fondant? Royal icing? They're DTF -- Down To Frost Anything and everything you ever imagined a baker of every size, shape, color, girth, flavor, persuasion would need or want?? This place seriously has it. All the little things we consumers of baked good take for granted and never really wondered, "how do they do that?" This is the place that makes it happen. Are you a pro? Do you just dabble?? This place actually makes you feel like you can bake anything. The possibilities are enticing. And they offer classes here so you actually might be able to bake anything. The internal supports for wedding cakes; the cake baker's rebar?? That visit was the first time I ever saw them naked and cake-less. They have a frozen section of premade cakes. My innocent mind didn't know that was a thing. They have industrial sized bags of mix. I kinda heard that was a thing. For the bakers who need to "from scratch" that itch, there are huge bags of sugar and flour. This cavernous warehouse of baking supplies feels like this is the kind of place those baking competition shows get their stuff. All one would need is this place, and knowing your way around a mixer. The storefront is nondescript on the north end of a strip mall. Baker's Express shares space with a La Michoacána Premium, Dollar Tree, and a Grocery Outlet Bargain Market. Unless your orientation is baking, it's an easy place to overlook. Still, it's an amazing place to just walk through and marvel at all behind-the-scenes the stuff. read more

If you skim through a few reviews, you find that customer service is brought up, and I totally get it. But I try not to base the business on just the off chance that I'm not given the help I need. I come here solely for the availability of products I need, and it's the closest baking supply store to me. This says a lot since I'm in East LA making this trek. I used to buy everything I needed for my small donut business but then switched over to focusing on cakes, which was an easy transition since they offered everything I needed for both businesses. If you are looking for something they may not carry, they're willing to call their reps and see if they can get it in for you. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone in a baking emergency, business, or side hustle. I rate it 1 star ,why ? look this place is amazing but the fact that they close early on Saturdays 12:00- noon and then they don't open on Sunday it's just crazy because a lot of us work M-F regular working hours so it makes it difficult to plan around those hours , all my clients pick up there cakes early Saturday so in reality it does not give me enough time to head out there , the point is that that people use there weekends to do the shopping and that's when they are close makes no sense to me . read more

I really wish I had more time to bake. This place is a dream for home bakers! You can buy bulk or just a few of pretty much anything. They have every size in cakes boxes and the biggest selection of sprinkles I have ever seen. Mermaid and unicorns are such a big trend these past few years and the sprinkles here are so adorable. You can browse their website and see see the items they carry and prices. The place is definitely "express" as it is much smaller than most bakery suppliers, but love that they cater to the home baker. Plenty of parking and accept card. read more

Called Ahead; Was told by some gentleman that there was a Graduation Package of stencils and supplies. Drove from Downtown LA Area to this location, To find out there was none. Asked the Mexican older lady, She seemed surprised and just said No, What's on the wall is all they got. Then that was it. No customer service skills. No, Oh I apologize can I help you find something that you need. Just a "oh well it's not our problem" This business has a "you need us we don't need you type of vibe" definitely wouldn't be coming back to this location. First time visit and last. The younger cashier lady was so nice and polite. Very respectful and helpful and even mentioned about adding a phone number for rewards, However I definitely wouldn't be coming back and don't recommend coming to this place. I would google the next store and save yourself the lack of customer service. Dollar tree is right next door, and that's where we came right after. They have better customer service here. read more

I tried to find some dark melting chocolate at my usual cake supply, but they were sold out and did not know when it would be back in stock. Then I remembered this place existed, and found some on their website. It was more expensive to order online than it would have been at my usual place (and ultimately a bit more than the price tag showed after I picked up the item), but that's fine. The increase in price was not much, and during COVID I understand businesses may need to adjust prices to survive. I drove up, and was shocked to see a huge line outside. Kudos to limiting the number of people in store. I was also pleased that since I had already ordered, they do curbside pickup. Usually I am happy with my experience with the store for the most part but I ordered a strawberry flat that was overpriced for the convince and easy pick up. They flat was brought to my car so I wasn't able to pick it out. It was the biggest waste of $40. And has left me stressing to find strawberries for Valentine's Day weekend which I was trying to avoid. And from the looks of reviews from last year you guys are okay with selling products like this. This store is like every baker's heaven. I love coming here and seeing all the different ingredients and items I can find. They have quite a good selection on different sized boxes, decorating items, food coloring, extracts, ingredients such as toppers or even heavy whipping cream/buttercream and such. They also have a rewards program that you can sign up through fivestar I believe. They also offer baking classes on certain days and I believe they also offered some free seminars to learn some baking techniques. There are sales on certain months on different items. Service is friendly. They are always busy everytime I come in so sometimes its very hard to locate help since everyone is always attending someone. The parking is very easy to find. Theyre located at the end of a shopping center with La Michocana and I believe a market so theres always available parking everywhere. read more

I'm not sure what's been going on with this place lately. If they have boards they don't have boxes, if they have boxes they don't have any boards. Too much of one food color and not enough of the next. Something is always missing & when you ask the employees the shipment is never going to be in till the next week or two. Now today no images??? This place used to be my go to. I stopped coming because of the older lady at the register. Today after months I came back stock isn't what it used to be. Won't even allow customers in the restroom. I tried using my wholesale discount and the older lady at the register started saying it didn't come up. In Spanish. I responded in Spanish. She started yelling for a coworker very unprofessionally, after a few moments started asking another coworker to translate to me and I stopped her and said I speak perfect Spanish. My very first doing there pre order for strawberries and I must say I was very disappointed. All small strawberries. It was not what they advertised and because of this I lost money on my valentines orders instead of making money. They did let me take the order and returned half of money'. What a lovely discovery!! I discovered BakersBodega Express when Tiffany L. invited me to a private dessert making event. I came early and I was able to meet their owner, Manny, who told me about how this was a family operated business passed down by his grandfather. They carry all types of baking supplies and candy making items for individual use as well as bulk for business uses. As I was browsing around the rather large shop I was especially impressed by their chocolate making selection. I am always making chocolate lollipops for my nieces and nephews birthday party favors or for my coworkers around the holiday so this aisle had me really brainstorming for the upcoming holidays. They had a really nice selection of chocolate molds, lollipop sticks and packaging material too. The highlight of this aisle is the Merckens brand of chocolate!! I prefer them over Wiltons because it's easier to work with and most importantly it tastes better. They have it in every color I would want and also in small sizes as well as in bulk. I'm glad I discovered such a gem before the holidays. For our dessert making class, we were set up with chocolate, lollipop sticks and a scooper... Can you guess what that was for?? CAKE POPS!! Yay!! Our dessert making instructor Gigi is a Cordon Bleu graduate with honors and she gave coherent instructions that were easy to understand all while keeping the class FUN!! Horrible customer service. I have a small business and ordered a case of Strawberrys for valentines. I arrived on time and they had pushed their time two hrs. There was no way I could wait that long with the amount of orders I had and how long I've driven for. I asked them for a refund and they could not give me back my $40. I am fed up with the amount of unprofessional experiences I have every single time I'm here for a sticker order. Why are you guys having clients order ahead if they won't be ready when we get here. I literally placed an order over a month ago that's still not done. When I call to ask if they're done it's always this attitude of "we're not the ones that make the stickers so we don't know" yet, when I get here after driving over 50 minutes it's you should've called to confirm. Omg!!!!!!! The employees are super rude. They would not let me in because I was here are 2:59pm . Minded you , the open sight was still on and the doors unlocked. They spent more time arguing with me than what it had taken me to get the one thing I needed. By law they can not do that. " they are open to sell till 3pm , not 2:59pm. Oh and they still had many customers taking their time shopping after 3:29pm. I guess their site should say be here 20 min earlier than closing time.
