Lovelace Park is a small park by a public school. I mentioned this because if you come around when…read morethe school is letting out, traffic is insane and a lot of people are meeting their kids at this park instead of waiting in the long line to get in the school. There is not much at this park. There is a little paved walkway, a few gazebos, and the children's playground. Still, it is not a bad place if you are in the neighborhood to come and chill for a bit. I would not go out of my way to come to this park, but all in all, it was not bad. Overall, I will give Lovelace Park three stars.

There are light poles every ~100 feet so it's well lit at night. The park is full of tall trees and along the wall of trees there are a few "off the beaten path" entrances that lead into the forest behind it. A few minutes through the forest leads to a small river. If you look to the far right, you see houses from the neighborhood next door. But to the far left, there is a bridge that leads you to a second forest area. We didn't go too far into this area because we forgot bug spray. The forest is pretty and shaded with all the trees. However, there is a lot of litter which is unfortunate.

It ended up cutting itself off I believe around 7, or 8pm. Probably 8pm because it was getting a little darker around that time. As I rode around the walking path I noticed a basketball court, playground with play sets, two restroom, pavilion, about 2-3 baseball fields and even a batting cage. Which sounds great, but the amount of trash and loitering definitely made it seem like this park gets a little strange at night. One of the restroom towards the back had a truck camped close to it. As if they were living there. The restroom near the front entrance just looks sketchy in general plus people under the pavilion side eyeing me, along with all the parked vehicle activity made it even more sketchy. I wouldn't recommend coming here at night. Unless you want to get strange.

They have fit a lot into the space, and the large dog area allows quite a bit of open space. Unfortunately it was unmaintained and the overgrown grass is a haven for ticks, ants, and God knows what else. We saw teams playing baseball, a group of kids playing basketball, kids and their dad doing tennis drills, and kids at the splash pad and playground. The dog park areas were empty and we explored, but not for long because it was unwelcoming with the uncut grass. The parking lot was filled with litter and there was a bit of an unsafe feeling all around. Though people were there for recreation, all the parents were on edge, and just wary. I'm not from Jax so idk the safety of this area, just googled a free splash pad for my kid. It did the job, and was safe enough, but it wasn't a place we felt comfortable to stay for long.

I have visited this park multiple times (the back lake) to paddle board and it has been a peaceful…read moreand enjoyable experience every time. I enjoy bringing my family out, some of us friends meet out there and it is a beautiful thing. However, my experience this past weekend (June 20) was anything but. Unsupervised Teenagers were there. The inappropriate language, the trucks and dirt bikes kicking up sand and the drinking has definitely gotten out of hand. I have no answer or idea on how to curtail these behaviors but at some point it will have to be addressed. One teen was so drunk he could barely stand. The others were trying to sober him up by standing him in the water; and the boy tipped over. We could not reach them because we were in the middle of the lake. It was a horrible situation. A young girl in an uncomfortable position being groped by an intoxicated boy as his friends stood by and watched. By the time an adult tried to intervene, they were gone. This lake should be a place for everyone to enjoy, but that's not easy to do any more
