Now I'm giving them 2 stars because the staff and environment was welcoming and my teeth definitely felt clean afterwards... however... I was quoted with $2,340.00 worth of work that needed to be done on my teeth for tooo decay and cavities they graciously provided me with photos for me to keep showing this. I had to do the work in two sittings and when I asked about a payment plan they said it had to be paid at once. No way could I afford this. So I took my treatment plan and my photos and left without making an appointment. Feeling discouraged as could be--given that it had only been a year since my last dental appt before I lost insurance. Flash forward to now. I finally have dental insurance again. I got an appt at the dental office I used to go to back in the early 2000s (before my college dentist) and i brought my treatment plan and horrifying photos Dr. Elfervig provided me with. Guess what? I was told my teeth are completely healthy. Not a cavity in sight. Not even a pre-cavity. My gums could use some better care but not even bad enough to be considered infected, just irritated. They said the grey decay in the photos was actually tarter build up that changed colors and they were able to scrape it all away with a little elbow grease. Like I said, the office environment and staff were beyond welcoming. But I can't say I'm not glad I didn't go back to them and decided to get a second opinion from a different dentist. I was sure I'd have to have some fillings done after my visit today... but unless my teeth magically healed themselves in 1.5 years, I'm calling shenanigans on what I was told was wrong with my teeth.

What was extremely odd is that the dentist( Some blondish hair guy) came into check my teeth before they were cleaned. I have never in my life had this happen. And even after the hygienist"cleaned my teeth," they didn't even feel clean. Again, I have been to dozens of dentists, and my teeth have always been checked after the cleaning and felt clean when leaving. The positives: The front staff were incredible, kind, attentive, and amazing. The place was clean and a nice facility. The front staff deserve better.

My significant other went in for a cleaning (which was covered by his insurance) and they presented him a list of other things that they wanted him to sign first and pay. When he asked what's this for, they told him his insurance didn't pay for this. He got up out of the chair and walked out. We both are seeing a FABULOUS dentist which isn't taking our insurance or us for a ride. STAY AWAY FROM BAYVIEW DENTAL!!! Go to Keyser Dental in Bradenton instead.

What really impressed me was the second visit, where I had to undergo "deep cleaning" for a couple of deep gum pockets. Andrea the hygienist was one of the very best I've met- extremely thorough, genuine, and knowledgeable. Feeling very lucky to have Andrea assigned to my dental care! Best of all, none of the staff here have shamed or made me feel uncomfortable while in their care & that deserves 5 stars.

The modern office layout offers an inviting atmosphere and the hygienist seem to customize their spaces, which also gives for originality. The service is detailed and informative. It relaxed me as they explained the different procedures they were doing to check me, as a new patient. Very complete examination. When the dentist came in to see me, Dr. Mercer actually walked in front, made eye contact and welcomed me to his practice. True manners and again, made me feel valued as a patient. Dr. Mercer again asked me several clarifying questions and then reviewed all my information that the hygienist, Heather, had taken during her exam and cleaning of my teeth and gums. I tell you, refreshing to have a practice that is so customer/patient focused. Their office handles only your primary insurance and honors your insurance discounted rates. That is good. However, you must pay any deductible or balance at the end of each appointment. The four stars was because I do have a secondary insurance which would have made my balance quite a bit less, but since they do not handle secondary insurances, I had to pay the balance. Now I will have to wait to process the expense with my secondary, once my primary insurance declines to pay. That is a small inconvenience but given the quality of service received.

I think they have sent me to collections three times now for bills I didn't know i had. I settle up when I leave, and then there's more charges. I call to take care of those charges, but it doesn't take care of them. And all of a sudden, without any notice, I'm in collections for some bill I had no idea I owed for a visit I had 1.5 years ago. It's crazy. My wife has a separate account, same problems. My wife had never been in collections before Manatee dental. Ridiculous. I am done.

I was so nervous and they gave me novocaine and nitrous oxide gas. The procedure went extremely well and there was not any pain at all. Dr Bowles, Grant, and Erin kept talking and making me laugh and truly it was actually an enjoyable experience. Must have been the laughing gas. Lol
