The next morning, I called Cityside at 8:00am and Ian kindly agreed to take a look at 8:30am! Perfect! It was only 4 minutes away and Ian was very professional and friendly. Last March I went in for a Maine State Inspection and was told I needed my steering rack replaced…read moreand a rear enforcement bumper. He was quoting $2,500+ for the steering rack and $553+ for the bumper reinforcement. I took my car to three other reputable shops in the Portland area. I was quoted $337 for the bumper reinforcement with OEM part, and the repair man even told my father and I that we could replace it ourselves because my father was able to remove the bumper cover himself. The other shops I went to told me I only needed my inner tie rod replaced including a wheel alignment. I got this repair done for $220 dollars and my car drives great. It is a 2013 Honda CRV with 70,000 miles that has never had issues on the road. The one difference between going to Carter's and going to the other repair shops is that I went ALONE (without my father) to Carter's a as young woman. I remember when I dropped my keys off at Carter's and the man at the desk called me "sweety." Unprofessional and patronizing. Carters is deceitful, greedy, and untrustworthy. Do not come here unless you want to get taken advantage of.

What followed was nearly 30 days of the car sitting in the shop during the first 30 days of ownership. The biggest issue was that they kept diagnosing and fixing things that were not the actual problem. Each time, I was told they had found "the issue," only for the car to still have the exact same problem. Multiple parts were replaced unnecessarily because they misdiagnosed the problem repeatedly. At one point, the car was marked as "repaired," I had it back for about 10 minutes, and had to immediately return it because the issue was still there. What made this worse was how it was handled. I was told they could "take away" paying for the damages, and was also told "if you bought it anywhere else you would have been screwed already." This came across as a threat rather than customer service. During this same situation, I was also pressured to purchase a warranty, even though the car failed almost immediately after purchase. While they said repairs would be covered, the entire experience was disorganized, stressful, and time-wasting. I paid for a car I could barely drive, lost transportation for weeks, and had to constantly chase answers instead of being given clear communication. This situation showed poor diagnostics, poor quality control, and a lack of accountability. I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business here.

When I explained that my boss was rich enough, and his business was not affect by the pandemic. Her response "doesnt everyone love money?" Then proceeded to hand me a business card with her husbands name on it and told me she would give me a little off the top for my troubles. We should have known then. It's also not an accredited business through the BBB. I don't even know how they are still in business. I have uploaded a photo so they can't claim "I was never a customer". This guy just runs his own codes again, "looks under the hood to see how easy it would be to fix oxygen sensors" and that was his diagnostics. I had to even ask what diagnostics he did when he went to charge me for this. His codes were the exact same by the way. Just wants to start changing things without a deep dive - so you'll end up changing a bunch of items with them. Customer service was obviously terrible too. Don't go here

They seem like decent guys to joke around with (trying to be fair here). But what I experienced was anything but professional. It would take pages to document this past weeks experiences with ABC. It feels like it's been much longer than that. They wasted way a large amount of my time and money as a result of incompetence. Whether it was completely forgetting about my tow, or charging me for new parts that he GAVE back to me so that I could INSTALL THEM MYSELF because he didn't HAVE TIME, or telling me he'd be there at 4:30pm to check me out but he then leaves to go home early for the day, or telling me he didn't get around to the oil change I asked for because he didn't have time! (which is odd because he went home early!!!) OR MAYBE it was just the fact that the whole reason for the tow was because the fuel pump was going, and he didn't touch anything besides the brakes! Throughout this entire process, I made an in-person appointment, 2 weeks out. I then went back in 2 days prior to the tow to confirm (shouldn't even be necessary on my part). When i finally got ahold of them over an hour after my scheduled pick up time, they begrudgingly came to pick me up, and then proceeded to tell me that they aren't going to even work on it for a few days because they have certain customers that are a priority. WHY DID I WAIT 2 WEEKS FOR AN APPOINTMENT THEN??? None of it makes sense. Honestly, they truly seem like decent individuals. BUT this was the most unprofessional spot I've been to since moving to Maine. 2/10
