And even going above and beyond by also re-securing the plastic wheel guard that had become damaged by whatever punctured my tire. Car got a flat on the front driver side tire about 20 minutes south of Baker coming back from Vegas a day after New Year's. Called my insurance who said they would get a tow truck for me in an hour. After an hour I heard nothing and called the tow company they assigned me only to find out my insurance assigned a Las Vegas tow company that cancelled my service due to being out of the area, no notification was given or anything. In a last minute haste and after being stranded on the side of the road for 3 hours waiting for a tow truck that would never come, we decided to contact Baker Auto Repair. We spoke to Brendan who said he would be able to come to us in 40 minutes. He came pretty much by the time he said he would, listened to our issue and with no questions loaded us on the tow truck and brought us back to the shop. Another employee, Marcos, was able to replace my front driver side tire and filled the rest of my tires with air. In the process, we discovered my rear driver tire had a nail in it and I wanted it to be replaced to avoid any future issues. The shop did not have another tire available in my size, however Marcos and Brendan worked hard to find another one nearby and were able to secure one. All of this in total took around 2 hours, which at that point I was willing to wait as I had already been out on the road for 5 hours. Overall, the employees were extremely friendly and helpful and turned a stressful situation into a positive one. The availability and speed in which they handled our situation left me really satisfied and I definitely recommend anyone in the area to call these guys first! read more

I called around and Baker Auto Repair had the best prices on tires in the area and offered mobile service so someone can drive out to us and change both tires. I called at 8:25 and we were back on the road by 9:07. Brandon met us on the side of the road and was quick, professional, and friendly. Brandon is a life saver! We blew a turbo hose between Vegas and Baker while towing a trailer back from South Dakota. After hobbling along and reclamping the hose about a dozen times, the clamp finally gave out completely 20 miles before hitting Baker. Brandon not only sold us a new hose kit for less than we would have paid at an autoparts store, but also found someone to drive it out to us for a very reasonable fee. At this point I was desperate and would have paid just about anything quoted, but was very pleased that he did not take advantage of our situation. If you are ever having car problems and concerned about stopping in a small town repair shop, place those concerns aside and have no fear of being taken advantage of here. It's never a good feeling to have you car break down and that feeling is definitely magnified when it's in between la and Vegas in 90+ degree weather. But, if your car ever breaks down, your best bet is to bring it here with Brendan! He's super helpful, friendly and honest. I have an Audi A5 and had it towed to his shop. He quickly told me my options in regards to the issue and the fact that he doesn't really work on Audi's. I ended having to park my car here for 7 days before I could get a tow (aaa premier membership) and the car was well protected and safe. I would recommend Baker Auto Repair over and over again. I was light off-roading near Tecopa when on the way back to the 15 freeway my alternator died. I limped into his shop. Keep in mind that in Baker, there's no auto parts store. All parts have to be brought in from Barstow, Victorville or Vegas. Mark was able to get me part in the same day. Unfortunately for me, while he was working on my car, we learned that the radiator was also cracked from me driving fast down the washboard dirt roads. By that time it was too late to get a radiator brought up. Mark was very helpful helping me find lodging for the night. He goes above and beyond what a regular mechanic does. He even dropped me off at my airbnb that night. The next day when the radiator arrived, he replaced it and got me on my way. He even called to make sure I got back to LA safe. Mark is a very honest person and he'll take care of you should you need your car fixed while out there. read more

On the way back to LA from Las Vegas, our tire blew out 10 min past the state line just before 5 pm. Luckily a very kind man pulled over to help change my shredded tire out with the spare. Afterwards, I immediately called Baker tire and spoke with Brendon. He was super nice and agreed to wait for me even though he was preparing to close shop for the day. I told him my car make and model and he assured me he would have the tire we need. Once we arrived, he quickly assessed my car and replaced our shredded tire with a new tire. Ken's Towing got the trailer to the shop where Mark & Brendan quickly got to work. They ended up driving to San Bernardino the following day to get parts. Improper salesmanship, tried to charge double the price of the part on top of a pick up fee. His pick up fee was more than the actual part(part was a radiator). Plus labor and it came out to an outrageous price; nonnegotiable. After countless phone calls he failed to mention any additional fees. Please do your research, call your closest parts store to get an estimate on parts. I wouldnt mind paying a reasonable price to help out a local business. However, he got really aggressive and started cursing when we asked if theres anything he could do on the price. Extremely disappointed on the business owner. Furthermore, he didnt seem knowledgeable in the mechanical field. Maybe thats why his price was FAR OFF! I would give this place less than 1 star. read more

My wife and I were driving home to L.A. from Vegas when my car just died on the way up the grade south of the inspection station. Translation: Middle of nowhere. On a Sunday morning. I called the number and spoke directly to Mark, who was in Barstow picking up parts and he told me he'd be back and open at 11, so we had the car towed there (at 35 miles it was the closest mechanic). At 10:59 Mark showed up, started checking out my motor within minutes, and knew quickly that it was a recall problem with Kia's that he'd dealt with many times before, which requires a new engine. He gave us a number of options to get us and the car home without going bankrupt. We opted to tow all the way home and Mark has been helping me on the phone to deal with Kia on getting the recall issue handled. Way above and beyond. The guy is an honest broker and takes care of people. read more
