Not a good experience and it was expensive. Got the steak tostada salad. Total with a bottle of water was $22. Steak tasted bland and looked like processed meat product. Servings were big but that was a problem because I just ended up with a glob of everything mixed together. No distinction between ingredient flavors. Staff were friendly. Salsa guac and sour cream should be served separately. read more

Picked up 2 taco combo and quesadilla on the way to LA...$35 Arrived in LA with all people in our party sick from the food. Poor quality, overpriced, sloppy presentation...never again. Not nearly as good as Baja Fresh in the BayArea... I hope that the owner reached this review. read more

We ordered a Baja bowl and Baja chicken burrito. Surprisingly workers did not know how to make either and asked us what to add. They were friendly but we were not expecting this to be like chipotle. The meat was ok, but produce was dry and burrito did not close. We had a bite of each and threw it away. Sad and waste of money read more

Limited menu and the just-OK restroom is in the gas station mini mart next door, but this wasn't a bad place to grab a burrito and drinks to go. A little pricey, but that's how fast food has gotten to be in California. Probably not your first-choice stop in Kettleman, but options are limited. read more

I stopped here on a road trip with zero expectations. I needed gas, ladies room and food. I was greeted with a warm smile and a tempting offer of tacos. After driving for 4 hours, that sounded perfect. I got 3 spicy chicken tacos on 5" corn tortillas. I also bought chips, salsa, and guacamole. My rating is WOW!!! My tacos were generously filled with chicken, onions, cilantro and grilled peppers. The chips were made fresh! The server even brought out more , hot!! The red salsa and guacamole and green salsa, great. I'm going to definitely stop here on my way back!! The atmosphere is just ok, it's at a gas station. Not too much can be expected on that circumstance. But the service and food way makes up for it. I recommend this place!! read more

When we walked in we were immediately greeted by a very friendly employee. We were the o ot ones in there at the time and the service was excellent. Our food was ready quickly so that was great. I'm only giving three stars though because the price for what we got seemed high. The steak was not very good and seemed a bit over cooked. The chips were good and the salsa was good. The pico seemed a little old. We asked for just shrimp and so he charged us for a shrimp taco which seemed fair but then we ended up ordering two more for a total of three tacos. Instead of charging us for the 3 taco meal they charged us for a two taco meal and then a single taco which was much more expensive. I was able to used a coupon from the app which was awesome but overall the food was not worth the cost. But someone should give the guy working there a raise because he was great. read more

Let me first say that I had an excellent experience here. My steak quesadilla came out flavorful and filling fulfilling my exact expectation for a rest stop baja fresh. Unfortunately, I can not say the same about the orders of my poor compatriots. My sisters veggie burrito bowl could best be described as a slimy mess of sour cream, salsa, and "odd-tasting" veggies. My mom and step-dad's "steak" burrito had chicken in it in lieu of the more expensive option they had paid for. The bathrooms were out of service, and the wait was a bit exaggerated for how busy it was. Main reccomendation here: DONT GET THE BURRITO BOWL, instead stick with the safe quesadilla option and you'll have a good time. Happy driving! read more

Nothing fresh in here. No rice whatsoever. Vegetables were old and sitting in trays for a long time. This location is FAR below Baja Fresh standards. I hope they improve because it is a perfect place to refuel with many different food options. read more

More like Baja Nasty! This place is AWFUL!!! I didn't even eat our food! The chicken smelled so bad I threw it out. I would've rather eaten McDonald's and I never eat McDonald's! This was my first time ever trying Baja Fresh and I was totally disappointed. I would imagine this restaurant to be always busy and have fresh food because it is one of the only options in Kettleman City. I came with Baja Fresh veterans and they were dissatisfied with their food as well. I ordered an ultimo burrito with chicken and it was $9! Not worth it at all. All of our burritos were lukewarm at best and the meat and veggies burnt. It was as if they just left all of the stuff on the grill for hours. One of my friends' burrito was completely cold and the tortilla looked like it came straight out of the bag. The cheese wasnt melted and the shreds were just falling out. She took her burrito up to one of the employees and they just said that some tortillas are in the warmer for longer than others. They didnt even offer to warm it up or make her a new one. The restaurant itself wasnt the cleanest, but strangely smelled strongly of cleaners...not appetizing at all. Also, one of the employees was wearing plastic food service gloves, but her long acrylic nails had ripped through the gloves. This seems like a major health code violation. I will never be coming back to this location again. read more

Place was next to a gas station and needed gas for the car. Place was clean and easy to find. We decided to hit this place to eat since its better than Taco Bell. Everything was good and with good portions (gave lots of chips to fill the plate) but I still think its a little pricy. I am undecided if I can recommend this place as I have gone to more authentic Mexican restaurants which are much better and cheaper. This is more of an American chain. If you don't care what kind of Mexican restaurant, then go here. read more

Gross. It smelled like dirty water and cleaning solution inside. The clerk seemed disturbed that I came in. They had ran out of black beans, so I went with pinto and they don't put any cheese on them. I ordered a chicken and steak street taco, and omg the steak was the nastiest crap I ever tasted. We stopped here to grab a bite since there isn't much to eat in the town if your a Vegetarian so we stopped and picked up couple rice bowls well I did ask the gals behind the counter making our food if the Salsa was hot they said NO- I have to disagree Hollie mollie I couldn't eat mine they need to be a little more honest I mean I like salsa but not that hot. The lettuce was Roman and not very fresh the bowls where not full maybe halfway, the food needed to be stirred more often. Bathrooms are shared with the gas station I didn't go in the doors where filthy and gross. Cost was about $21.00 with no drinks - learned a lesson don't eat at gas stations!! read more

How about Baja unfresh! Old, dry chicken, limp brown lettuce, tired rice and beans... ate 3 bites and my stomach doesn't feel very good afterwards. stopped there to have something "fresh" to avoid fast food, and it wasn't by all means fresh. Unhappy and unfriendly employees who are slow to serve. Hope corporate takes notice and comes in to improve this place. read more

Alma who works here is beyond cool and gives this place 5 stars!!! I can't eat meat or onions and garlic for religious reasons and I'm vegan -- and all the food pretty much had onions and garlic. She made me a special and delicious salad for me so that they could still serve me. I am so appreciative !!!! It is kind folks like Alma who can make a normal chain incredible and great !!!!! read more

3 stars for quiet and friendly. We 1st went to in and out, there were buses pouring people into their restaurant. We walked across to Baja Fresh and we're happy to find empty tables and a non-crowded environment. Just had the carnitas quesadilla. It was ok, could use more meat. We had to ask for and wait for salsa. Decent road food. Bathroom is attached in the convenience sure and needs help. There is also a Wienerschnitzel attached. read more

Love how they keep the ceviche separate from the tostada so you can eat the ceviche at your pace and your tostada doesn't get soggy. Asada regular burrito: ok. Asada was solid. Tasted very homey and not too salty like many other places. Not very greasy either. Pastor taco was delicious! Need to try the chili verde and grilled chicken next time. 2 tables inside and 1 table outside. Bathroom ran outta soap

I also know through friends and acquaintances that this is a favorite local spot for many people, so I may catch some flack for this, but here goes...First time here. I had an appointment nearby so when my wife suggested a lunch date, I couldn't think of a better opportunity to try them out. As soon as we entered I was immediately put off by this "cafeteria" style ordering. For one, I tend to always feel rushed in these types of settings and I would prefer to take my time to look over the menu. Secondly I can't stand that restaurants (or any business for that matter) have the nerve to inquire about a tip before I've even eaten and less than 5 minutes after I walked in the door. Nevertheless I played it safe and settled on an original shredded beef sandwich, add mayonnaise, no cheese with BBQ sauce. Briefly admired the side orders before feeling rushed by the growing crowd behind us, added a slice of lemon vanilla cake, and ordered a drink. The shredded beef on this sandwich was near perfect. Tender, flavorful and juicy, no problem there. The problem is I can't understand with all that goes into the care and quality of producing such a good product as the shredded beef, you're telling me that the bread and/or bun it's served on has absolutely no relevance? Disgraceful. This is a restaurant, not a backyard BBQ. Is it asking too much to show a little care and consideration for the bun? How in the world can you serve a sandwich on a plain, cold, un toasted, un grilled, raw bun?? Charging 14$ for a plain sandwich with mayonnaise on a raw bun is wild. I did enjoy the shredded beef but just as I expected the majority of the bun was a soggy mess (which is why you don't serve on a raw bun) I tried both the chocolate and the lemon vanilla cakes and they were about the same in terms of being a moist cake that is completely slathered in a thick frosting that is far too sweet. I don't know what it is about this place but It's definitely not the shredded beef sandwich, or the chocolate or lemon vanilla cake...
