I am extremely disappointed with my daughter's experience at during her senior year…read more My daughter was an AP student throughout high school and worked incredibly hard academically. During her senior year, our lives changed overnight when she suffered a heart attack at home due to a heart condition we did not know she had been born with. Paramedics had to revive her, and she remained unconscious in the hospital for several days. Her recovery took months. Throughout this time, I stayed in contact with the school and informed her teachers and counselors about her condition and hospitalization. Most of her teachers were kind, supportive, and understanding, and I will always appreciate that. Unfortunately, one teacher treated my daughter in a way that was completely unacceptable. Despite knowing what my daughter had gone through, this teacher refused to allow her to make up missed assignments from the time she was hospitalized. My daughter was only half a credit away from graduating, and if she had been allowed to complete the work, she would have graduated and walked with her class. Instead, the teacher failed my daughter. She accused her of lying about her medical condition, dismissed both me and my daughter when we tried to speak with her, and even ignored the counselor who fought for my daughter because she knew everything our family had been through. Because of this, my daughter did not get to walk at graduation after surviving a life-threatening medical emergency. As a mother, that still hurts me deeply to this day. Watching her classmates graduate while she was denied that moment over what ultimately became just one day of summer school was heartbreaking and unnecessary. Thankfully, my daughter eventually completed summer school and graduated during the summer, but the emotional damage from how this situation was handled never left us. No student recovering from a traumatic medical emergency should ever be treated with such lack of compassion, empathy, or humanity. I hope this school takes situations like this more seriously in the future and ensures that no other family has to experience what we went through. By the way, the teacher that didn't allow her to make up her missing assignment while at the hospital was her reading teacher.She started off with the male reading teacher and that he was really helpful. But he was transferred to the ninth grade center, so she ended up with a female reading teacher and this female reading teacher discriminated needed my daughter because of her race, she says she was hard on her. Next, some people wear tails to express themselves or put tails on their backpack and they are told that it is a "distraction" and they have to take it off. Also I am very concerned because last year I got the orange chicken and it was pure raw, I ate it, noticed it was raw, asked to get something else, went to the cafeteria ladies, waited like 15 minutes before I could get something else and then had like 2 minutes to eat the new food I got. Also the other day, in the hallway above the cafeteria it smelt like smoke which is concerning. Another thing, bullying and fighting is crazy common here. There was a fight where one student jokingly pushed another student and it turned into a fight, and bullies NEVER get in trouble. Kleb enforces dumb rules such as a ban of keychains on IDs because they can't "see the id". The dress code also sucks here. It's not enforced on you if you're popular trendy white (or a black kid pulling your pants below your ahh), but if you dress alternative or POC, it's placed upon you. I have seen shorts so short I could see butt cheeks but you can apparently get dressed coded for a tail. A lot of teachers SUCK. Whether it's creepy teachers or teachers that don't teach, most suck in some way. You do however, have like 12 good teachers, but those are usually for CTE,Fine Arts, or social studies. The Staff suck the most though. They can't do their job properly. Most students feel unheard. They tend to ignore reports that students make when uncomfortable of a teacher, and even if they try, blame is immediately put on the student.In May, a lot of Klein ISD schools were recognizing Mental Health Month, and Kleb completely ignored it and only celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week (which there is not much to appreciate). Teachers have seen students struggling (like if a student has visible cuts from self harm) and nothing is done. The school is also sorta homophobic. There was a gym teacher that wouldn't let my friends hug or sit close together because they were gay. Subtle bullying is also a problem here. Some kids think they rule because of their skin color or their trendiness. They make fun of other kids for things like hair color, sexuality, gender, fashion style, pronouns , etc. Please avoid this school at all costs. You"re better off homeschooling or sending them somewhere else. Even though they have high grades, safety is more important then education.
