My guidance counselor told my parents that I had a low IQ, I tested low on ACT's and SAT's, and I'd never make it to college. Not once did those guidance counselors pull me aside and actually try to understand my life. I was living my life in survival mode dealing with trauma after trauma yet your counselors never picked up on that, instead they called me dumb. I graduated cum laude and made the deans list multiple times while receiving my bachelors. I truly hope your counselors are better educated now and will actually help students instead of calling them dumb.

Spring HS is your average HS, nothin fancy.......not all "brand new" or anything. This school has some awesome Teachers, Staff, & of course.....The Athletics Dept!!!! Now, there has been a major change in the Ladies Volleyball Coaches over the past school year (2011/2012-2012/2013) but I'm thinkin they're gonna get it right soon!!!! Please, please, get it right soon.... If, & I probably will at some time during this next school year, I was going to do a review solely on the Coaches....I'm not sure what the rating would be. Chances are with last years experience.....Not 5 stars!!! BUT, I am giving this school year coming up another chance seeing as how I will get to talk about more than just volleyball Coaches, & maybe, just maybe, they will redeem themselves after last school years fiasco. So for now.....I'll stick to the school itself!!! Very beautiful, yet again, nothin spectacular......Easy to find your way around. They have a beautiful auditorium, huge Gym (Gym #1) & then a smaller Gym (Gym #2) around the corner. Tight security.....Cool, but you kind of have to get used to being sent to more than one place just to check your kid out!!!! Whatever.....I'm over it & used to it now. So it's all gravy!!! The kids have super easy access to Burger King, Sonic, Starbucks, & so much more, by just walking across Cypresswood. & trust me.....they do take advantage of it!!! This school has "Go Zones"!!! What's a Go Zone you ask?!?!? Good question!!!! When your child is in a Go Zone, they are welcome to bust out that one thing that we as kids did not have!!! That one thing that most kids these days have had since elementary!!! The one thing you will find glued to every teenager's hands!!! That's right!!! Their Cell Phones!!!!! Best believe that when in a Go Zone you'll hear everyone Jammin Pandora, their iPod, or local radio station!!!! Oh, & the days of "passing notes" is long gone!!! Go Zones let ya text, bump up your Facebook status, as well as post what Your daughter/son & their friends are REALLY doing in a funky cool lookin way on Instagram!!! Ummm....can you tell that my kid is one of the many?!?!? Hey, long as she's bustin butt & rockin the Honor Roll, I have NO problemo with the Go Zone!!!! I'm sure if one of the students was to write a review, they might take at least 1 Star away due to the NO Hoodie rule!!! Some fights and people are using illicit contraband in the restrooms. From what I heard, the athletics experience may vary depending on the sport. Library resources are plentiful, but they recently took the PC's away. School lunch is passable, to say the least. Fine arts and college readiness programs were decent, though! The U.S. Air Force JROTC program was engaging and had a plethora of activities. However, the animation curriculum and preparing for UIL was satisfactory at best. The teacher wasn't really knowledgeable about anything other than the Animation 1/Digital Media curriculum, so expect to do assignments and projects on your own if you plan to progress through Animation 2 and beyond. If participating in UIL film, be prepared to do everything YOURSELF, as some teachers do not have adequate knowledge to help you with UIL competitions here.

My hat comes off to the teachers and administrators @ KF high school for nurturing this talent, and providing a safe space for these students to practice the arts. The music, singing, and acting was awesome. The students were passionate and poised. It was an awesome date night for the wife and I. Ticket prices were $15 for adults. What a bargain. Even though we don't have kids in high school any more, we really enjoyed hanging out.

The education system in this school had declined so much due to the negligence of academics and the focus on what makes them look good. For example, track and field makes the school look amazing because of all the great people that participate, but because of that the other sports available don't get as much attention. Meaning they still have the same old equipment that's been used for the past few years instead of providing new equipment that can better help players prepare for games.
