I live in Vail Colorado. I'd taken my huskey to our local Avon Pet Center for a mild tummy ache and…read moretwo days later my dog was going blind and couldn't use her back legs. My insitict told me to get a second opinion so I rushed to Conifer, 3 hrs away at 5:00 am just to find the Vet from Aspen Park Vet I'd used in the past, Dr Guerney who was one of a kind, had passed away earlier this year. They were now a very busy office with a very young staff and couldn't make time for us. In my desperation my friend called Bighorn. What a wonderful turn of events! Immediately I felt the peace come over me when his receptionist asked all the right questions and then actually listened compasionately to my responses! Amazing! She found me a spot for my Nala to be seen and within 2 hours Dr Curt was performing magic. Even tho I was being squeezed in and Nala wasn't his patient, he still took his time and was thorough, compassionate, kind, and most importantly extremely knowledgeable. I emphasize knowledgeable! His price was honest and very fair. Outstanding service! 5 stars! I will continue to drive the 3 hours if he will have us. Finding a quality vet, let's face it any servicer these days, who truly cares and isn't just trying to make money is a rare gem and worth the drive! Nala continues to fight and is holding steady! We can't expect perfection from our caregivers nor to have all the answers, perform miracles, or know what to do at all times but we can expect them to care, listen, and make wise, logical choices with the health of our loved ones. That is the profession after all. Thank you everyone from Bighorn from me and Nala!!! If you are reading this send some sweetness Nala's way!

Of course her eyelid, which is a somewhat specialized surgery, turned out as wonderfully as everything else that our family experiences at Bighorn. Thank you Doc and team!

Avoid- worst of all worlds:…read more all of the questionably necessary upselling of a corporate office with all of the ineptitude/lack of resources of a small town practice. I have never been talked at more by a vet in a standard visit- 30 minutes of upselling at least. Then minimal follow up or support once your bill is processed.

Our first visit seemed optimistically good. We saw Dr. Brian Gleaves who was helpful and seemed…read morecompetent. Unfortunately, the second time we brought our pets, we met Dr. Kevin Inman, who is driven by greed to the point of stupidity. I will spell it out for Dr. Inman and anyone else who is interested: Sympathetic magic was proven false in the 1400s. Grinding up a dried animal organ and putting it into a pill form does not make it "medicine" nor is it a safe "supplement". For example: If your animal has kidney disease, "treating" them with a "supplement" that consists of ground up kidneys WILL NOT IMPROVE THEIR MEDICAL CONDITION!!! If it was that easy, then eating ground up kidneys would be the human treatment for kidney disease. These types of supplements are based on ignorance, superstition, and sympathetic magic, which is a fallacy that was proven wrong in the DARK AGES. This is not medicine, it is utter NONSENSE. Thankfully, this is the 21st century, so your customers are now capable of looking up your "supplements" company and investigating the ingredients in these placebos that you are peddling. Again, I can't stress this enough: If your pet has a brain-related illness, you cannot make them well simply by grinding up a dried brain and force feeding it to them as a "supplement". It's ridiculous. To other customers of this vet clinic who are technically minded: Do Your Research before buying anything from these people. To those who are not comfortable doing the research yourselves: Call a different vet and ask their opinion before buying anything from these people. In short: the "supplements" they are peddling are a SCAM and in some cases they might do more harm than good. To top it all off, after I took my pets elsewhere, I had to contact this office several times by email and phone in order to get my animals' records sent to a new clinic. I found that one of my animals had lab tests indicating kidney failure, but neither Dr. Gleaves nor Dr. Inman even bothered to tell me about it! Shameful.
