I brought my cat into see them. They told me right away that Dr. Jeff was on sabbatical. I told them my cat was walking strangely and they just prescribed gabapentin and sent me on my way. A few months later I went to the All Cat CLinic and the Dr plainly asked me."Has your cat always walked like that?" She then described that all of the ligaments in his front foot had been torn and ripped to the point they could never restore and asked me who gave such a bad diagnosis. I will never go to these fucking scumbags ever again despite having a series of good experiences when Dr. Jeff was around. Dr Jeff is the only good vet at this entire place. But he has let that staff of his do disgraceful things in his absence.

Meow Meow had been to two other vets, with no luck. So we loaded up our car and headed to Colorado from New Mexico.. we knew if anybody could fix our baby. It would be Dr Jeff and Dr Patra and their staff.. We have found our forever Vet. Thank you so much for what you did for us. We can never repay you for that. May God bless you and everything you do in everything you touch always and forever Kellie and Johnny.

I brought my fur baby to see Dr. Jeff x's 2 here at PPP in a desperate attempt to save my Stuart's life. Stuart was doing his best to urinate. But could not relieve himself. I was frantic to get affordable help and relief for him. Friday the 11th of December was almost Stuart's last day on this earth. I was caught in a dilemma that no animal lover wants to be in. Financial euthanasia. The quotes were astronomical to get him care. After calling a large number of vets all of them pointed me to Planned Pethood Plus. After working a full day I rushed to pick Stuart up from home and make a madd dash to PPP before they closed for the night. Roughly a two hour journey. They took him in and did what they do as doctors. He stayed with them for a few days while trying to diagnose him. He survived and we took him home. Dr. Baier and Dr. Jeff both called me to explain their thoughts and profession opinions. The office staff from OSHA to Mindy and the intake specialist have been amazing. Although we are back for a follow up I trust their care. Stay tuned.

Make sure you read everything closely before choosing to bring a pet here. You may be subjecting your sick pet to additional stress during their recovery. I cannot believe a veterinarian would not only recommend but require that a sick dog be subjected to mandatory spay or neuter while already having their health compromised. This isn't the sign of a vet that puts a pets health first.

Take your pets to real professionals. I have been trying for weeks and they must have seen my previous review what a joke. Thank god for people that change for the better. People get fed up with BULLSHIT as you can see in the convo with them the lack of concern sucks. Yet this company still has no integrity or passion of helping sick etc pets. They aren't professionals they are workers that could careless about an innocent animals health and finally I spoke my mind as anyone would. They tried to call me a breeder cuz I have a boy and a girl cat and at the time I didn't want to fix him it was out of no where request and I didn't want my cat staying over night with these careless people. Still no word from the owner so you can see he or she condones this type of behavior. SMH

I was going to wait to post anything until we had talked to them and they had been given a chance to right a wrong. Dr. Jeff Baier was incredibly rude and unhelpful, so here we are. Last week we dropped my dog off for a cystotomy to remove bladder stones. We had agreed to pick him up on Friday, because there wouldn't be anyone home with him during the day until then. The vet called on Thursday to say that my dog had developed some swelling around his penis, and they weren't sure if it would be safe to send him home on friday. We were told that they had reopened his incision to check for hernia, fluid build up and/or infection and didnt see signs of any of those things. On Friday, the swelling looked worse according to Dr. Baier, so they were going to keep him for one more day to keep an eye on it. On Saturday we got a call that our little guy was ready to go home. We were advised that he still had some swelling. When he was brought out, he was wrapped up so it was difficult to see anything. When we finally saw his abdomen, there was redness, severe swelling and an obvious protrusion. There was no way this was normal. Later that night after deliberating, we took him to an emergency vet to get another opinion. They took one look at him and immediately admitted him because he looked so bad. Within an hour they confirmed that he had an intestinal hernia that would require another surgery to fix. We went back to Planned Pethood this morning to talk with Dr. Baier to find out what the hell happened. He insisted that there was no problem when he was discharged, that he had checked for hernia and found nothing. He offered to CHARGE US AGAIN to fix it, which we refused because the poor dog is so traumatized I refuse to bring him back into that building ever again. He became visibly frustrated and pawned us off on one of the ladies working the front desk. Dr. Baier's rudeness, unprofessional conduct, and blatant disregard for my pet are inexcusable. I cant believe a professional vet with years of experience would okay my animal to leave in the state he did. my advice to anyone considering planned pethood for surgery is to avoid Dr. Baier at all costs and research other facilities. I'm appalled with how our case has been handled.

Haven't been there but recommend the place even though. Love all the vets, and the people working there. Also the practice itself

Planned Pethood - wolf in sheep's clothing I understand Dr Young is a TV personality and does charity work, but he's basically running nothing but a 'quick serve' right here in Conifer. I had to take my cat to him for an emergency because my own vet was unavailable. He was there for 3 days. As the hours wore on they kept insisting I needed to keep him there, including overnights - unattended, and likely in discomfort, if not in pain - when there is no one there to supervise the animals. One of the front desk staff told me they typically have 20 animals overnight. In 3 days all they did was an Xray and an enema. And, in 3 days, they never once called me for an update, even though they kept promising to when I called them. Most of the time I really had no idea about the state of his condition, and to be honest, I feared the worst. And the only way I could reach someone to talk to was to select the 'if this is an emergency' option. Each time I did reach someone they kept telling me that the reason they hadn't got to my cat was because of the volume of surgeries they had every day - this became a recurring mantra. After they told me he had to stay there for longer - even though they were closed for the following 2 days(!) - I went and picked him up. At first they weren't going to release him to me(!). I took him straight to Wheat Ridge emergency hospital down the hill, and he was out of there within about 3 hours. Even though this emergency hospital also treated walk-ins and performed emergency surgeries all day, they not only were set up to treat my cat promptly, but the whole atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and they took the time to keep you updated on your pet, and proactively contacted you. I get that there are emergency surgeries, and if I needed that for my cat I would be grateful to have that service right away. But, what makes it that one vet clinic uses that as a 'poor me' excuse not to see its other patients who are in discomfort and possibly pain for three(!) days, while another clinic is able to be open 24/7, welcome walk-ins, deal with all the emergencies coming in, and concurrently care for other patients within just a few hours. My old vet down the hill warned me not to use Planned Pethood (when I first moved here and was looking for a vet), and the emergency clinic vet had nothing good to say about them, and told me that 'everyone in the back' was flabbergasted at my cat's neglectful treatment. It seems this Dr Young is well known as a person of disrepute in the veterinary medical community. Dr Young's business model and his collective staff's neglect of my cat for three days bordered on abuse, and stringing me along bordered on deceit. If I'd known it would be a 3 day ordeal in the beginning, instead of being strung with promises of care hour by hour, I would have taken him down the hill in the first place. Only if he's been bitten by a bear in a snowstorm would I ever take my cat to Planned Pethood again! read more

Well i first took my dog to strip mall vets.found there nothing more then clinics! Like going from clinic to a hospital. The clinics 3 of which i tried the third one was most adept ,but for the most part still a clinic. Going to plannedpethood what difference the whole time ,im giving the dr. The symptoms ,staying on point, and talking symptoms. Hes wayvhing and assessing, the dog. Not only are they older ,more experienced, but they are on point. They get alot of people there,so being ready and not going off on the long stories is important. There treating dogs and cats not people. There experience is hand over foot more then you will get at strip mall vets.then they call you when there able and take time with you on the phone. Dont expect an answer by calling because they too busy, and get too many calls. Do expect experience for your pets! As far as cost im sure i paid less then some other places got better service then csu was offering, and they were clear and concise,in per and post care. If your shopping for certain personnalities at a front desk, then shop. But if your looking for experience, and best doctor for your pet let the personalities, slide ,and get the care your pet needs. I have no doubt this was the best choice for my dog. Just wish id found them before i went through the so called strip mall vets.(clinics) read more

Planned Pethood International in Conifer did a fantastic job with my dog Indy's ACL repair--She's recovering well. Dr. Petra and staff were incredibly kind and caring throughout the process. It can be hard to reach them by phone, but once you connect, the quality of care and affordable pricing are worth the wait and drive. Highly recommend for compassion and expert pet surgery read more

I guess I'll join the ranks of people giving this place one star. I'll start by saying that I foster cats and kittens, so I have utilized many vets in the metro area and have great relationships with the vast majority of them. PPI, however, has been terrible since I started working with them. The only reason I did was because of the low cost of spay and neuter. I won't go into the many aspects of how bad their customer service is, since many people have written about the rudeness of the front desk staff. I will point out that the office manager said to a coworker, in front of me, while I was checking cats in for surgery, "I don't like cats." Okay, why are you working for a vet then? And why would you say that in front of a client who was dropping off cats for surgery? Now for the mistakes: the first one was when I asked for nail trims on three semi-ferals I was taming. They didn't do the nail trims but charged me for them. When I brought this to their attention, they said they couldn't do a refund but would credit my account. The next time I was there, they had no record of the credit and seemed annoyed that I asked about it. They said, rudely, "Why do you want nail trims on ferals anyway?" None of your business, frankly, since I paid for the service. Then was the time they forgot to ask me to fill out paperwork and called me half an hour later, saying they couldn't do surgery without the paperwork. I asked if they could email me something, but they wouldn't, so I had to leave work to come back in. This recent time was the final straw. I asked for FIV/FELV tests on two kittens, and they said they were unable to get blood for the tests. This is an incredibly basic vet tech task. A vet office should have someone who can draw blood from a friendly kitten. Also, they were anesthetized for surgery. They could have taken blood then. For the record, when I took the same kittens to my personal vet the next day, they had no issue drawing blood for the test. I asked if they could try one more time to draw blood, which they got with no problem. However, they never sent me the test results (which I paid for). Also at this same visit, they did a horrible botch job on a kitten's cryptorchid neuter. The incision looks terrible. Also, they didn't tell me that there were stitches that need to be removed. I luckily am competent at noticing things like this, but imagine if I didn't know and they never mentioned it. I wanted to give this place a chance since they're so cheap and they're close to me, but I would rather drive into town for one of the many low cost spay/neuter clinics that is competent, respectful, and treats their clients like they're glad they are clients, rather than acting like it's an inconvenience to perform veterinary services on my cats. read more
HORRIBLE. The receptionists just ignore you 24/7. Ignore all emails and calls. I have actually ONLY gotten them to respond to me by contacting our vet that works there. The receptionist's cannot even approve our dogs medication thru pet meds after they have reached out multiple times. The ONLY reason we go here is because our vet that we see is wonderful. Unfortunately, we will likely need to go elsewhere as the front office staff is extremely unreliable, unprofessional, and simply does not care AT ALL read more

If this were for Dr. Jeff, the other doctors and technicians I'd give 5 stars, but someone has to take responsibility for the front office. There are two dysfunctional people there causing tensions with their coworker and customers coming in undermining the spirit of the organization. My experience is that the front office has tension and division. Some of the workers were prompt, efficient and had a work ethic only to be badmouthed when they stepped away. The clerk attending to my visit the second time either could not or deliberately kept misspelling the last name. At first she was unable to find the account. After the name being spelled a second time, even though it was clearly written on the intake sheet, she found it and misspelled it a third time on the label for the carrier. How can you call the customer if you can't find the account because it is misspelled? She refused any eye contact with customers and wouldn't talk to anyone but the coworker. She was icy after being advised there was a misspelling. They waited until I left to call and say I couldn't ever come there again because, "You were rude spelling the name three times. Three people heard it. That man against the wall can come and pick up the cat, you can't cuz you were rude to my employee and you can't bring no more animals here." She articulated in this manner. Asking for a last name to be spelled right is not an outrageous request. I told her I am coming to pick up the cat. When I came, those two were nowhere to be found. My husband was against the wall because he was disgusted with the way the carried on at the front desk and ignored the long line. He did not want to deal with them. I called my vet the next day who relayed to me that some of their customers have had similar experiences and they don't recommend this place for low cost spay/ neuter of rescue or feral kittens at all. One, who fosters had an identical experience this week over a mistake that they spoke up about. It's insane. The doctors at this clinic need to address the problematic employees who are abusing their customers for the sake of ego. They are not appropriate for the front desk. Unprofessional ism can wreck a business. It is better to be short staffed than to allow bad actors with poor work ethic on the team who are a poor representation. Hope the doctors figure it out. The organization which is their heart and the customers coming there deserve better than this. Some woman calls and tells a customer, " you had a hissy fit cuz the name wasn't spelled right, you said it three times, three people heard it?" Is this the twilight zone? She's the one having a fit because she lacks the courage to address the problematic employee. My vet suggested two places down the hill who do the same thing. They said they never recommend this place because of the front desk's behavior. I'm going there. Same service, same prices, better service, better staff. read more

I don't understand why you don't advise people to keep their cats indoors. They are perfectly fine and safe if you have to leave for awhile and there wouldn't be SO MANY cats hit by cars!! I've watched your series and there seem to be many more cats hit by cars than dogs. I admire your devotion to spaying and neutering animals and your dedication to helping so many people who are unable to pay the ridiculous prices so many vets require! read more

Brought my 2 year old Rat Terrier in for a spay. Everything went well. Can't even see her surgical scar.
Absolutely disappointed with my experience here. I truly Caution anyone considering it. I totally understand the enticement of "lower prices" but nothing is worth your pet's care! Firstly, it is impossible to get in touch with someone. If you go in,it's insanely busy. They take like 2 days or more to return a phone call. Brought my pup in for dental work - which they require you to schedule an appointment a few weeks before the cleaning for a "wellness check" to check beforehand if your pet is suitable for a standard cleaning. Went to that and the vet very clearly said "oh wow her teeth look great!" This sent the message that my dog probably will have a smooth dental cleaning. Fast forward to her actual cleaning,I get a call in the afternoon saying her dental cleaning is complete and that they extracted THIRTEEN teeth. Thirteen!! I was shocked to receive that news in a phone call AFTER her procedure. There should have been a courtesy phone call to warn us!! Yes,I understand there are state laws requiring extractions - but my dogs previous vet gave us a call to warn us about any extractions so we weren't blindsided. When I expressed my concerns, the vet didn't even come out to speak with me. One of the front desk workers had to go to the back and relay the message. Then, when I asked for a copy of the procedure records, they said they need to get a vets approval to share that with me... Me, the owner of the pet is not allowed to access MY pet's medical records?? Absurd. Another small note, they shaved a huge chunk of her left leg to give her an IV and bloodwork. No other vet has shaved her to do so. This also would have been good to just get some communication about?? Like why is there no communication from this vet. Why are people okay with not knowing what's happening to their family? Needless to say, I'm extremely upset with my experience and do not trust for my pup to return. read more

I am grateful for the staff and doctors that provided me the support my dog needed for immediate surgery to remove a large tumor. Dr. Jeff and Dr. Petra truly care for the health and well being of not only the animals they treat but also their Guardians by providing quick support and very reasonable fees. No other vets around Colorado provide this. I am OVER the Moon with joy knowing my beloved sweet Dylan will now be with me for years to come. read more

After 2 years I still don't recommend this place. My dog is traumatized from this experience. Having my dog in a cage for a week with no food and no diagnose is extremely unacceptable. They seriously thought I would not say what I saw, but if the dog don't drink and don't eat they don't care. Their too busy to check if the animals are doing well. The end was when they asked me to stop coming over because they won't let me see my dog because their too busy to take a picture and show me she's alive. DONT COME HERE! read more

I've taken my dog to Planned Pethood a number of times in the past few years and they do a good job at reasonable prices, but I've always been confused by their lack of responsiveness and indifferent attitude of the women who work at the front desk. They NEVER answer the phone when you call and I've litterally waited WEEKS for a response to questions I leave on their voice mail. In the times I've been there it's really not all that busy, so as I've said, the lack of responsiveness is confusing and aggrevating given that my dog's health is at stake. It's a business, but it always feels like they're "doing you a favor" which sucks since the doctor's are good and their prices are reasonable. :( read more

Wow, this place was just SO HORRIBLE. I am sorry, I am not one to just come on to Yelp to give bad reviews but this place was just Awful! I have never dealt or seen such rudeness and elitist attitudes to so many customers just concerned about their pets. the pet owner I was here for said, "well they're understaffed and inundated well I counted 9 staff members in the main area alone and no other customers. Just me and then 2 other customers who came in while I was waiting who they were super rude to. One who left in tears,, the other spoke Spanish so I didn't know what she was saying n told her "I don't speak Spanish but after the treatment I've seen I bet I can guess what's going on" and then she opened up to me. She was (like me) blown away by the unhelpfulness and the attitude. you guys need a Serious attitude check. You are in the Service industry. You are here to SERVE. People and pets. None of us were rude to you, or short, or anything. we are just here to care for our pets, like you're supposed to do too. this is supposed to be a place of HEALING. your vibes make it a place of Stress and Torment. I pray for Peace, and Grace to enter your Hearts. I pray for Healing to take place in your souls and in this building. Be well and take care. read more

I had excellent experiences with Planned Pethood over the four years that we lived in Denver. Whether it was for vaccines, neutering or general care they were always helpful and kind - and that's especially impressive considering how busy this place always is. The vaccine clinic on Saturdays is affordable and I'm grateful this program exists. The space is clean and while usually quite busy, they do a good job of monitoring and controlling the flow. We recently moved and I needed a vaccine record for one of our pups, I called on Friday to request the record and they emailed it to me by Tuesday afternoon along with a friendly call from one of the volunteers. While it may be tough to get ahold of someone at the front desk at first attempt, rest assured they will call you back if you leave a message! Thank you for taking care of the pups during our time in Denver! read more

Yes there's a significant wait, every time you go... But what they're doing for the community is amazing! I am so grateful to this place and the staff here for taking care of us. My dog needed an emergency surgery that would've cost me $4000-6000 anywhere else, and they did it for $1100. What to expect: -you're going to wait 30 minutes at a minimum. Outside. -they don't answer the phone. they DO return voicemails. be thorough and polite and the will call back usually in about an hour or two. -they are very busy, so it can feel a bit rushed or hectic -they will do everything at a fraction of the price; expensive procedures only require a $300 down payment upfront and the rest can be paid for at pick up -they do follow up calls for serious patients, but it's good to accept that "no news is good news" My biggest complaint was the wait and lack of communication at the door, but once you understand the drill, it's not hard to prepare for/plan around. read more
Thank the stars that PPP is located here in Denver. As avid watchers of the Rocky Mountain Vet show, we weren't sure if what was portrayed was actually real. Luckily, these guys are just as dedicated to affordable pet care as they appear on television. YES, they are busy. NO, they don't answer the phones. But, we just showed up and they were incredibly caring and friendly. So, here's what happened. Wife and I went on a weekend getaway in the mountains and had a friend staying with our 7-month old cat. On Saturday, our friend went out for lunch and when he came back, the cat was limping. We figured the little ruffian probably strained something, but when we got home Sunday morning, we could see he was really uncomfortable and took him straight to the emergency vet. Turns out he broke the bone that plugs into the hip socket and it needed to be removed via a femoral head osteotomy. The quote on the surgery was $3,000 to $4,000. I about fell over on the spot. Sure, we could swing it and that's the cost of owning a pet, but holy shit did that seem outrageous. We told the emergency vet to keep an eye on him overnight, and we'd find an alternative for his surgery. At home, we looked up Planned Pethood Plus. The reviews are all over the place which made us a little skeptical. I am so glad we didn't listen to some of the negative reviews. While we tried to call multiple times and nobody answered, we just showed up about half an hour after they opened hoping for the best. It was relatively quiet, a couple of people in line in front of us. When we spoke with the front desk, we explained the situation, handed over a disk with his x-rays, and all the paperwork from the emergency vet. They had us fill out a few forms and wait in the lobby area. We assumed that we'd be there forever since we didn't have an appointment, but it only took maybe 20 minutes before he was taken back. No exam, just straight back to be prepped for surgery. They did not mess around with his injury, and we were thankful for their hustle. Before we left, we paid a $300 deposit for his surgery which the website lists as costing $400 to $800. That's a bargain price considering the visit, x-rays and staying overnight at the emergency vet cost $750! (Ouch) That afternoon, we got a call from one of the docs that all went well and he was resting comfortably. We were told to come in the next morning at 10 to pick him up. When we arrived, we were given his pain meds and full instructions on his care. They were also very patient and answered our bazillion questions about what to do if this or that happened. Soon, we were on our way with our baby. The grand total was $485, including a couple of booster shots that he just happened to need at the time. It's CRAZY that we likely saved nearly $3500 versus going elsewhere. We'll also be back with one of our dogs who needs dental work. We've gotten quotes of $1500 whereas PPP charges a max of $500 plus blood work, which I imagine will be minimal in cost. THANK YOU to everyone who helped us. And if you're on the fence based on some of the reviews, just go see Planned Pethood. They are the real deal and will take wonderful care of your pet. read more

Horrible, racist, unprofessional, rude, misogynistic, condescending, disgusting business ownership, and staff. I wish I would've read the only 2+ star fb reviews before contacting this business. They have a terrible reputation! I drove 2 hours for a scheduled surgery appointment for a dog I'm fostering within a domestic violence ministry because the dogs owner passed & she was a victim of domestic violence. I did ask Planned Pethood if they partner with nonprofits to help victims' pets, but they do not. No problem. I was okay with that & was fully prepared to pay the full price of almost $700 today. It took months to get ahold of this business. I had to message their Facebook to eventually get a response. This dog can barely eat food because her teeth are so bad & she's in desperate need of over half of her teeth being extracted. Anyhow, I wasn't planning to enter the building since everything is service at the door. The staff member rudely insisted "it is private property & I must wear a mask instead of a face shield." Due to my severe medical exemption, honored by the governor of Colorado, I am exempt & have to wear a face shield instead. I was there for an hour standing outside in the cold with this Chihuahua dog. They eventually came out & nonchalantly said "there's no guarantee that they would be able to do this dogs surgery today, because they are short staffed & needed to reschedule." I cannot believe they didn't have the professionalism or courtesy to call before I drove hours out of the way to be here. They open at 7 & could've called me then, instead of telling me at 9:15 once I got there. I filled out paperwork while standing outside also. I asked to speak with a vet or manager, to see if there was any way we could make this happen today. A lady came out with attitude, saying she was "Dr. Souza?" & they could not see me. I expressed my frustration about not receiving a call earlier, before I had driven all the way there. I said it was unprofessional & although I didn't want to leave a bad review, I did want to speak with someone about the lack of respect in not calling me. She literally had the nerve to then say "she would give me a 1 star review on the nonprofit that I work for & then literally called me a Karen!" Which is a racist, derogatory, insulting & degrading slur for white women asking to speak with a manager! This is coming from an employee! I'm the one doing business with this clinic, so I have the right to write a review based on MY experience. They've done absolutely no business with our nonprofit whatsoever, so if they write a review about the nonprofit, when they're not at all our client/customer, then I'll make sure our attorney gets involved immediately for defamation & slander. A fraudulent review from them has nothing to do with our nonprofit services. I can't believe my experience with this business. How can a business can talk to their customers like this! All she had to do was pretend to be understanding & express 'politely' that they could not get me in. It was the opposite. I'm appalled by the entire situation & wouldn't trust any of the staff here. I also asked for the paperwork I had just filled out to be returned to me, since I no longer want them to have my personal & private information & they refused to give my paperwork back! I held my ground, so they went inside & gave me a 'copy' of my own paperwork. I have every right to share my honest & truthful review & experience of this business. Before writing this, I reached out (again on Facebook) to speak with the head veterinarian, Dr. Jeff, just to share my experience & see if I could just talk with him about this, in hopes they won't treat/talk to customers like this in the future. Instead, he literally joined the racist derogatory comments (which I'm glad to share a screenshot of) & that sealed the deal about this business! I would've hoped for a completely different experience. I'm going to do my research about this business using these racist remarks to me as a customer. They have a huge sign outside their door, about supporting the organization black lives matter. I guess that's why they feel they can treat caucasians so horribly. These racist remarks would never be tolerated if I were any other color. Run as far as you can from this business! read more

For all of you who wrote less than 5 Stars reviews for Dr. Jeff Young and his Staff at Planned Pethood, "YOU DO NOT DESERVE TO GO THERE"! Our rescue dog had cancer on his tail (found after our old vet amputated it at a hefty price)! We decided to give Planned Pethood a try for the growths on his back even after reading the negative reviews I read. We watch the show all of the time and could not understand why all of the negative reviews. My husband made an appointment to take our labradoodle up so Dr. Jeff could take a look. We made another appointment afterwards to have the 3 cysts removed and opted to send in for biopsy if they felt necessary. In the meantime we acquired a Aussie Poo that was 8 months old and had not been neutered and we had no idea what shots he had received. I called and asked if we could bring him at the same time to be checked out. The staff was very accommodating and added our new dog to the schedule. We took them both in yesterday and procedures were done on both. They kept us informed on how they were both doing and advised us that the other cysts were just fatty tumors and just needed to be removed. Our new dog was neutered and immunized, all at a fraction of the price we paid at our old vets office. It isn't the money, it is the care that Dr. Jeff and the staff gave. They are phenomenal and should be appropriated and rewarded for the care that they give. They are all friendly, kind, caring, and above all Wonderful at what they do. THANK YOU DR.JEFF & STAFF from the bottom of our hearts! The Palazzolo Family Colorado Springs, CO read more
60 dollars and my cat is now neutered. And that included the additional medication before his surgery. I was quoted upwards of 500 dollars with our vet. That equals 5 stars for this location automatically. I don't care if the customer service could have been a bit more friendly. Or they answered the phone when you call. They seemed a bit overworked at their establishment. But that is the cost of making the world a better place. I recommend going here for your animal. And the cost of this amazing deal is a larger level of patience on the part of the customer. And to be humble towards the workers that are busting their a** to help out the animals. I'm extremely grateful for the service that they provide. THANK YOU!!! Also be patient with getting a reservation. It's worth it for sure. And even if you already make plans online... prepare to wait in line at drop off and fill out a hard copy sheet of paper. It may take 30 minutes to an hour at drop off and the same amount of time at pick up. read more
This is a very sentimental review. One week ago today my dog was hit by a car. We took him to another emergency vet, and after a very large bill to do surgery we decided to put him down. We just couldn't afford the cost of the surgery. About 5 minutes before we were going to put him down, we were given planned pethood's phone number. We were told they could do my dogs surgery at a reasonable cost if we were interested. We bundled my dog up and took him across town to planned pethood. They gave him about a 10% chance of survival. Knowing this we still wanted to take the chance and do the surgery anyway. Fast forward to today. My dog made it through the surgery and he's doing great. Dr Jeff and his team saved my little dogs life. I will be eternally grateful. Everyone there is so wonderful, specifically Patty and Diane. They really care about animals and not $. I know people have complained about them not answering the phone, but they are literally so busy the phone rings off the hook constantly. If you can't get through hang up and keep calling until you get ahold of someone. You'll be happy you did. Check out Dr Jeff's show out on animal planet, he's pretty amazing. read more

I just want to thank you for being there on a holiday weekend. I was so upset about my beloved boy. You took us right in. I can't remember ever being treated so well. I had a medical emergency with my dog over the Memorial Day weekend and took him in to PPP as they were one of the few places open that would see him and that i could afford. Unfortunately, he passed away while he was there, and I don't blame PPP for that. What I do blame them for is saying they would call us back with his blood-work results ASAP and not doing that. What I do blame them for is saying they would give us updates every 12 hours or so and not doing that. What I do blame them for is waiting almost 24 hours to let us know that my dog had passed away. What I do blame them for is losing his collar after we requested it back after his cremation ... - I will make it habit to not recommend PPP to anybody in the future ... read more

I was interested in Planned Pethood Plus because during theit vaccination clinic on Saturday, they do not charge an office visit fee. On Saturdays, their clinic is from 10a-2p and is on a first come, first serve basis. I intended to arrive early, but lost track of time and arrived at 9:57a. When I arrived, the line wrapped around to the west side of the building. The parking lot has plenty of parking, which is very convenient. The line moves a little bit at a time because they take in groups of people into the office, process intaking patients and payments, and administer the vaccines before allowing the next group into the office. I waited in line for 2.5 hours before making it into the clinic. Once I was processed and paid, it only took 10 minutes to have my kitten vaccinated. The only issue I had was that my kitten wasn't exactly happy about being poked so I had to hold him still. Psychologically, I am not happy about holding my kitten while he got his shots. I also don't think it was worth spending almost 3 hours to save $35 in office visit fees. The prices for vaccination are very competitive and for the 2 vaccines I needed, I paid $35. Although, I saved a significant amount of money to have my pet vaccinated, I don't think I would return because I value my time much more. read more

How many messages does someone have to leave before they ever get a call back? I'm honestly DONE trying. My dog has seizures and needs his medication or he'll die. Every year they do blood tests and a pre-surgical blood test. Pricing is reasonable, but the care is something to be questionable about. Many times they have rejected to fill his medication even though he's been taking the same medication for about all his life. They even drag on sending the prescription to be picked up. I've had to wait weeks for them just to send the already signed off prescription that just needs the pharmacy to fill. And the phone calls. They never pick up their phones, and even if you're lucky to get an appointment who's to say you'll actually see a vet. I don't understand what happened because starting out visits here were great. Everyone was kind and helpful, but it seems the longer that you're a patient without an "interesting" case, the more the care declines. Go find a different local vet. It'll save you money in the long run read more

This has been my dog's vet since 2014. During my last appointment there they treated me like crap and just about accuse me of being a bad pet owner for not knowing ahead of time the work that should've been done on my dogs mouth throughout the years. Even though they've been my vet and we're not telling me the work needed done until it was too late. I don't know how they expect me to know about work that needs done on my dog if they never even informed me about it before. I sent several forms of communication expressing my concern and I have yet to have anyone address those. I will be picking a new vet for my dog. Maybe a bad review will finally get their attention and I will receive a call back. They took labs on my dog and took forever to get back to me about the labs and still have yet to provide a copy of the lab work to me. read more

Planned Pethood has saved my dog's life not one, but three times. Their love and care for each and every dog that walks in the door cannot be matched. Okay-- so it's a bit mayham-ey in here. But that's because it's an affordable veterinary clinic and they're very busy doing amazing work. So, don't expect to be able to get a walk in appointment and don't expect the space to be immaculate. They provide incredibly important services for those who are less fortunate and chose to own pets. I went specifically for a second opinion as I love my current vet who partners which Dumb Friends League which is where I adopted my pup. The vet Amy was incredibly nice and listened to all my concerns regarding my pup's very tiny hind leg lump. She took a prick of the tissue in question, checked it under a microscope and had results within minutes. The quote was also about 1/5 my current vet quote. Can't beat it. Will for sure come back if I need ups on vaccinations and such cause it's pretty affordable but probably won't make it my primary care place because it's very very busy and the poor gals look a little in over their heads. read more

Don't even bother. We have been trying for weeks and weeks to get our puppy scheduled for spay services, yet no one bothers to return our phone call. Is it that difficult to return a phone call from a potential client? What terrible management and customer service this place has. There are so many other alternatives, it just isn't worth your time or frustration, as the clinic will never return your call. If this is how they treat their customers, imagine the horrible care your pet receives in their care. read more

Hi! I'm hoping and trying to make an appointment with Dr. Jeff. He saw my little dog about a year ago and she now has an infection in her mouth right under her eye. Dr. Jeff is the only Dr. I trust to take her to! Please help!?
Hi are you asking if there is more then one doctor at planned pethood?
How much does it cost to have our dogs nails trimmed? She is very tiny.
I am not sure but honestly would find a different place to go. Call the dumb friend's league.

Wow we lost are baby boy tonight after taking him to this vet clinic thinking that we were doing the right thing. We took our beautiful Sphynx 1 1/2 years old here to get him neutered and his distemper and rabies shots. We were told this is a very routine surgery and that there was nothing to worry about. We left our baby with them for the day. We came back after bitting our nails worrying about him all day. I had a bad feeling when we picked him up that something was wrong. There was no file for him up front and the front desk, assistant left to look for him for a while and I had a bad gut feeling that something was not right. A little while later she rounded the corner and said here he is. Thank god. I thought, weird my gut is usually never wrong. Wow am happy I was wrong on this one. We took our baby home, ready to give him the care he needed and watch over him with love and warmth like we do everyday.. He is our baby and sleeps with us every night like he has since he has been 8 weeks old. First day home he was feeling horrible. Second night not so good. Third night looking a little better. Fourth night kinda looking sad and depressed. fifth day something is wrong with him, He can not jump up on the bed, His back legs are not working very well. All night he starts to cry if we tried to touch him. OMG he is shaking with pain. First thing in the morning we can see something is not right with our little boy and rush him to the clinic to have him checked out. We are told when we get there that they are sure he is fine but they will do a full check up an xray. To my amazement 10 min later they come out with him and tell me he is fine and they can not find anything wrong with him. Nothing i say, he is so not him self. His back legs are not working great and he is having all these symptoms x y z. Well go ahead and take him home, tomorrow is xmas so we are closed but if you see anything getting worse bring him back. Fast forward to day after xmas, We are watching our little boy not get out of bed and he is taking a turn for the worse. Then Bam it happens he makes this horrible scream and has a seizure and stops breathing, What the hell .??? We jump in the car and turn the hazards on hit our horn blow every light in the city as safely as possible. We arrive at 24 hour pet emergency rush him in crying freaking out. They rush him back to the back of the hospital and start working on him. We are now at the clinic down off of hampden ave, not planned pethood just so were all clear on location now. We check in and of course pay the $500 deposit, whatever just help our little boy. Hour goes by maybe more time seems to stop at this moment as my wife and i are starring at each other with tears in our eyes wondering what the hell is going on. Our little boy was never sick a day in his life and full of energy and life and so much love. He was like a little person and would just lay on his back on your chest and rub his face into your chin and fall asleep. Sorry got off track. So, the doctor comes out and says are you guys the parents? Yes Yes what is going on whats happening? He is super anemic he only has 10% red blood count. He needs 2600$ of work including 2 blood transfusions. How could this be we just had taken him to planned pethood 2 days ago. They said he was fine. Do everything you can. Save him please omg. Doctor informs us of his chances which were none now at this point. We go back hold our baby boy and cry and hold each other and cry. He can barely hold his head up he is so we week. He turns his head and looks at his mom and then looks at me. He has a little oxygen hose held to his nose. He is to week now to meow and lays his little head down and takes his last breath and dies. Thanks Planned Pethood for killing our baby at 1 1/2 years old. We now are in morning as we walk around the house remembering everyday how he filled our house with love and light. Thanks again, Really great job guys. AWESOME!!!!! read more

What a nightmare. I ignored dozens of awful reviews years ago and chose to make this my vet, exclusively based on their prices. You get what you pay for, which isn't much. They're 'open with social distancing guidelines' but they just need to be closed. I tried to call about a half a dozen times to schedule an appointment, but during the best of times, [pre-covid] they've never answered a phone call I've placed. The last two times I was there entailed waiting in the sun for an hour in 90-100 degree heat to be turned away. They're operating under a highly flawed queue system of 1 nurse coming out every 30-40 minutes and asking ONE person about their pet. The lady in front of me had her sr. dog strewn over her arms, he hadn't eaten for 4 days, and here he was exasperated in the sun for an hour in front of me. My cat has severe dermatitis and needs a steroids shot to get her over the hump so she can heal. "Do you have an appointment?", they ask. "I would have loved to have had an appointment but you don't answer the phone," I said. "She just needs a shot, shes got scabs." We've done this for her before, but they disregard my input and say we need to see if she's got mites, etc. "I would love to get her back there and have you guys see what's going on." I add. She informs me they can't today, that they're "booked out for weeks" and that she can give me recommendations on vets that can see her. You literally are my vet, she's been in here 4 times. Ok, so my cat, my wife, and myself are all on the verge of heatstroke with a fresh parking lot tan, and this is the first you let us know that you can not help anyone today, or for the next 2 weeks? Why didn't you answer your phone and say you're WAY behind, and are operating WAY below capacity, and will SURELY be letting down a majority of potential patients with their unavailability. How did the rest of the people baking in the sun with me get an appointment if you don't answer your phone? Why don't you have a calendar online I could check BEFORE making the drive from Aurora? Why can't you trust my input on a cat I've had for 8 years, I know what she needs. What a tremendous waste of time. You ARE my vet, I don't need recommendations for one. You just need to close, because it looked like over half a dozen white coats were smoking cigs behind the building instead of helping a growing line of people being eagerly informed of your being "short staffed". You are a cut rate vet, for the TV show right? Why not put the line forming of panting animals and sweating owners on the asphalt in front of your vet on TV? You're not animals, you can speak. Why not let your clients know, using your words, what you will and won't be able to do, and not let people bake in the sun for an hour or more? We we're at the 'front' of the line, I can't imagine the wait for the folks in the back, and what they'll think when they're turned away. read more

I would give zero stars if I could! Horrible and Disappointing veterinary appointment at Planned Pethood Plus Yesterday I had an appointment at 11:30 AM with Dr. Baier at Planned Pethood Plus. The appointment was for my 26-month-old golden retriever Barkley. Barkley was diagnosed with reflex dyssnergia by another veterinarian, and I wanted a second opinion by Dr. Baier. Instead of communicating with me he automatically thought that the dog did have reflex dyssnergia. Because of the Covid 19 epidemic I had to speak with him over the phone. Instead of asking me my concerns he just told me that the dog needs to be on Valium and prazosin daily for the rest of his life. Even though the diagnosis is a rule out, and may not be a true diagnosis! Dr. Baier did not even dialogue with me: Regarding the history of the diagnosis from the other veterinarian. If he did he would have known that this is not a constant ongoing health issue with this dog. It shows up about once a year for no apparent reason. I would've also told him that the other veterinarian have this as a rule out diagnosis , and it might be something else! He did take an x-ray and found no stones. I did not want my dog on Valium for the rest of his life without the proper diagnosis of reflex dyssnergia. Dr. Baier told me that if I did follow his recommendations I could not come to him as my veterinarian. I told him that I will not come to him and left Planned Pethood Plus extremely disappointed in the service that I received for my animal. I felt as if I was not even heard with any of my concerns for my dog. I have been going there for almost 20 years and this is the worse I've been treated by any of the veterinarians! It felt like Dr. Baier was very angry and didn't want to listen, or didn't care to hear a thing I had to say. It felt like he was giving me an ultimatum, and it was like it's my way or the highway. This is the worst treatment I've ever had at Planned Pethood Plus in 20 years. I am a Very disappointed client after using this clinic over 20. Planned pethood plus isn't good anymore. read more

We just came home from Planned Pethood today after going down for their inexpensive vaccination clinic for our dog and granddog. I know in the past that there have been a few negatives mentioned about the front desk staff and I myself had experienced a little of that in the past. I just wanted to chime in today because both when I spoke with a woman on the phone yesterday and then interacted with a very nice young man this morning, they were both excellent. And they had a lot going on, with people dropping off pets for surgery (on Sunday!- they have Sunday hours, how great is that?) and coming in for the shots. In the midst of that, a very distraught man brought in his elderly dog and asked for their help. After realizing what was happening, the young man at the desk handled this incredibly well in my opinion, getting the man and dog in a room, weighing the poor animal very gently and taking him back and obviously getting things started to help them. I read through some of the past reviews this morning and wanted to mention another matter as well. Someone mentioned that they would only bring their dog there for spay/neutering or shots and would go elsewhere for other care. We have been loyal customers of Planned Pethood for the past 13 years, because they have saved our wonderful dachshund Bubba on two different occasions when other vets first tried, charged us of course and arm and a leg, and then returned him to us still very ill with pancreatitis. They were incredibly professional and because it was not nearly as expensive to leave our dog with them for IV fluids and such- basically intensive care for dogs- he has lived to his current age of 13 1/2. Planned Pethood Plus on Tennyson will always be our first choice of where to take our beloved dog for any health issue. read more

The owner, Dr. Young, is under investigation by the Department of Regulatory Agencys (DORA) and has had 2 letters of Admonition from the agency in the past 14 months!!!! And will about to have a 3rd if I have anything to do with it! He has been found by the agency to have violated several codes of conduct. Look him up for your self here: https://www.colorado.gov/dora/licensing/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx This guy is highly incompetent and morally corrupt. The money you save is not worth it. Please go to a competent veterinary clinic. If you love your pet and want them treated well, please do not take them to PPP!!! Former complaints include him not telling owners of their pets diagnosis and not offering treatments. I took my dog in for a leg amputation. I wanted to find a vet that would do the surgery as cheaply as possible, so we would have money left over to do chemo. They were supposed to amputate her leg and have a biopsy done on the lump so we would know for sure if it was cancer before spending $3k on chemotherapy. When I went to pick up my dog the next day, I was told that the biopsy was not preformed. When I asked for them to get the leg and preform the biopsy they said that they "accidentally" threw my dogs leg in the garbage!!!! Outraged, I demanded to speak to Dr. Young who preformed the surgery and he told me that he didn't need a biopsy to tell him that my dog had cancer. He also said that if I wanted a biopsy, I could go dig through the garbage out back and look for my dogs leg!!! I'm not kidding! This guy is a creep and I am not the only person who has had severe issues with him. Do not go to Planned Pethood Plus!!! read more

We took our dog here for his distemper shot, instead of paying $80 at our usual vet. We waited in line on a Saturday, first come, first serve. We gave the front desk our info and proceeded to wait for our turn. At this point, they started letting in more people from the outside line. We noticed that they started calling animals that had just come in. We had been waiting almost 3 hours to be seen. The front desk forgot to put the sheet out for our dog, so after 3 dogs went ahead of us, we had to request to be seen first. Our dog was given the shot and 24 hours later he had a severe reaction. He had never had this type of reaction to distemper shots before. We called the office and of course no one answered the phone. We took him to our regular vet. He ended up getting steroids and Benedryl through an IV. Due to this, we won't be coming back. We would rather pay a full vet fee and watch them draw the shot fresh, then take another chance on a refrigerated shot. I am sure this vet is doing wonders for animals in the area, but we were not impressed. read more

I can't begin to give enough deserved praises of this wonderful low cost vet clinic. Bottom line is that they really care about their animals and their animal's humans. My beloved dobe had bone cancer, in her front leg I wanted to put her down and the young vet was adamant about me making the wrong decision. And it was. I came in last Friday and just sat in the office until they had an available appointment. My dog was X rayed (at a very low cost). Dr Young informed me that the answer was amputation. I wasn't convinced. I made the appointmetnt for the surgery Monday morning. Dr Young called me, as I had requested, left his cell phone number to be able to personally address my concerns. The surgery was done on Monday, I was called to be aware that the surgery went fine. I have never had such caring, prompt communication from any vet I had used before. The cost of the amputation, blood work, x ray, and meds was $550.00 . Unbelievably low cost. Unbeleivable great medical care. read more

Just experienced having to take my Rudy (morkie dog) in for ACL surgery. He loves to play ball and tore the ACL on his right leg. I was devastated at the prices from Vets in my area (Littleton) to fix this...ranged from $1800+. I learned about this fabulous place from my daughter. Rudy's surgery was last Thursday & it went well. He's recovering well. The cost $475 :-) That's right $475. They charge by weight so the cost will vary by size of your pet. Dr. Nichols was great. Rudy will be back to his favoirte game of ball in a few months and he can't wait. He does have to wear the cone of shame but he doesn't mind...he's focused on getting back tot he game. I usually go to another vet in the Highlands for routine visits, but Planned Pethood was available when one of my older dogs needed emergency care. I was out of town on a work trip and my older dog, Molly took a turn for the worse. My pet sitter came to my house for an evening visit to find Molly completely sprawled out in the kitchen, barely breathing and defecating herself. She immediately rushed her to the closest emergency vet, which was Planned Pethood. They put her on oxygen without delay, and tried to stabilize her. We unfortunately had to make the decision to put her down, but the staff at PP was extremely compassionate and made the process a lot easier to deal with. read more

***WARNING*** If you care for your pets life dont even consider this place. What Im about to tell you is VERY DISTURBING!! I brought my cat and dog in yesterday for a simple spay/neuter and an hour and a half later got a phone call from the front desk saying both cat and dog died!!! Planned Pethood needs to be shutdown and SUED! Which is in the process of happening NOW! All they said was sorry and good luck in the future. I understand this place is much cheaper than other vets but obviously because they dont know what they are doing! They mistreat there animals and dont even care if they die while at there facilities. STAY AWAY FROM PLANNED PETHOOD!!! ITS EVIL!!! read more

I get the big picture with this place, but when you fall through the cracks they never even acknowledge you! And if you happen to overpay you won't get your money back. I brought a deposit cause that is what their website said was needed , when all was said and done . I overpaid, at that point I had my dog I thought " they can just send me the difference! Boy was I WRONG ! You don't get a call back you get nothing BECAUSE you and your animal mean nothing to them. They are about spay and neutering the masses and this place is how they finance it! And I have even worked with them before! Sad that it's come to this! read more

Great and affordable service. Very busy, so you don't get any real individualized treatment (why 4 not 5 stars), but the price for cruciate ligament surgery can't be beat. My dog is currently recovering from the surgery and seems to be healing fine. I have not used them for other services, but this was an important surgery and I spent time talking to them and several other vets before opting for PPP. The online price list is accurate and includes x-rays, consultation, meds, and any basic follow-up. I appreciate any business that doesn't tack on hidden charges, especially with something as expensive as surgery. read more

I am a Hugh animal lover and my dogs have a regular vet, the $450 charge they wanted seemed a bit pricey to spay my 18# Australian Terrier. I chose Planned Pethood Plus based on Internet recommendation and was not disappointed. I called in advance to get general information, the front desk staff was helpful and patient. While there she got her nails trimmed, shots and was micro chipped. One note, they offer the pain mediation as optional it isn't. The most helpful review stated if you are looking for a touchy feely experience this is not the place. It is however clean, professional and affordable. read more

My family has gone to Planned Pethood for at least 20yrs. I am soooo disappointed in them now. My daughter's dog (Buddy) was very sick.My daughter called them to get him in,she left them a message, told them what was going on. THEY NEVER CALLED HER BACK!!!!! With all the money from the TV show you'd think they could hire more ppl. to answer their phone. Buddy was passed away 10 days ago. I will tell ever one that ever ask,,,DR. JEFF AND PLANNED PETHOOD IS NO LONGER A CAREING PLACE TO TAKE YOUR PET'S TO!!!! They went HOLLYWOOD. read more

Put down a kitten at an adoption event in front of children for no reason other than the kitten scratched someone that had picked it up like kittens do. They have claws hello ! Dr Young was just annoyed that the kitten did it. Are you kidding me ? This guy shouldn't have a damn vet license he shouldn't even be allowed to be near any animals. Also former employees have complained that he treats them like dirt. Yells and degrades them. This place needs to be shut down and Dr Young needs to be locked up for life. read more

I would give this a negative zero. Be careful of your pets, if you truly love them you would take them elsewhere where they would be safe. A poor puppy was killed by the egotistical doctor who works there. The pup had a place to go to by an adoptive family who wanted him. I would feel sorry for a person who has a pet with a serious ailment that can be fixed with the proper care, instead this doctor will just put your pet to sleep and say to get another. What a jerk. Look up on Facebook The Gertie Rose miracle. read more

Planned Pethood is a wonderful local vet and the services they provide to the community are amazing! In addition to the low cost vaccination clinics, they also provide low cost spay and neuters and inexpensive hospitalization, which was extremely valuable to us on multiple occasions. We have used them for emergency care as well and it's never broken the bank! The staff is warm and caring and we will return for all of our veterinary needs! read more

Very annoyed at the low rated reviews for this place. They are literally doing the work of angels for pets that otherwise may not get what they need. Oh you're mad you waited 2 hours but paid 1/10th of the price!? Did they forget to rub your back and offer you a tissue? Cry me a river ! Thanks for giving my cat the surgery she needed to enjoy a life with quality at a price I could afford in a reasonable time! read more

Front end staff not always friendly, but this is a great Veterinary clinic with ethics, how many Vets. do you know that will rescue dogs or cats with fractured legs and repair them with no money and turn around and adopt them, i would highly recommend this clinic, you help give back to the homeless animals by going here! they do require your pet to be spayed or neutered, this is a good thing! read more
