Has potential to be beautiful and give a great vacation. Here are our observations.. we had a family trip with our kids and a friend so a family of 5. We are well travelled and have tried all inclusive a few times. The rooms (we had to book two) are spacious and the beds are big. The room cleaning service is ok but they don't change the sheets during the week and it's pretty humid and hot here so after a few days not the best. The al la carte restaurant booking thing is a joke.. with the package you only get 4 nights of a week in the a la cart restaurants.. but getting good times is hard and when you show up the food and the effort is not worth it. I think the food was terrible. There is a huge seaweed problem here and that coupled with waves meant we had no access to the sea even for diving, sailing, kayaking or swimming. I believe we just had 60 percent occupancy here because of covid but that is enough.. you stand in line for everything.. especially the front desk. Our favorite spot for cocktail or coffee in the morning was the beach club.. but that is not included.. it's extra payment.. Activities organized by the hotel are not really well coordinated.. we went on 4 trips while there but went direct to Viator or trip advisor because then you don't stand inline and you don't deal with ambiguity. I did try to speak to a manager while here to give feedback but they were not to be found. We spent about 8k for flights and accommodation . I feel we could have done much better that at Bahia. The website pictures may lure you in but beware, when you peal back a later it's not all the sweet.

Day one: we were not happy.. My husband and I asked for a king size when we reserved and we got two full beds next to each other. We go to the pool and its nice but closed at 6pm so we had to take the kids out. We didn't mind that.. We were hungry so we walk to the buffet to eat and they tell us that they don't allow men to have sleeveless shirts. Ok, we didn't mind that and went all the way to our villa and he got a T-shirt.. Mind you this walk is very long. We came back and food was nice and social distancing, service was good and sanitizing was good. We go to the room and realize the air conditioner is loud as a train. It was so loud we couldn't hear the tv or sleep.. tried the phone to call the front desk.. the phone doesn't work at all. Tried the 800 number on the website and it says its disconnected. Tried the Mexico line and that worked. Someone came to the room in about 20mins and was polite to us. Immediately could tell that something was wrong with the A/C and the phone.. told us someone from management would come within 20mins. We reminded the maintenance guy that if they try to call they womt get through because the phone doesn't work. It is now 1:20am and we are wishing we were home... In our king size bed cuddled up and not in separate beds and with our nice and quiet A/C. It is now 1:44am and I am debating if just sleeping without A/C and risking that as soon as I fall asleep the manager will show up or just staying up and wait to be changed to a room that has good, quiet A/C. It is now 1:50am, I have decided to try to sleep without A/C.. The manager came and took me to see some other rooms to offer me To change to. The rooms had the two little beds and not a king but at least didn't have the noisy A/C. We were promised that someone would know the next day in front desk to help us find our new room. We let the manager know that we wanted to get food but couldn't leave the room because our kids were asleep and couldn't call Room Service because the phone didn't work so he offered to send a Room Service employee to take our order. It is now 2:18am. To be continued.. Update: Day 2: we got a call from public relations called us at 7:30 or so. Offered to come to our room to talk at 9am. He was on time and we showed him. He offered to either movw us to another room or fix the a/c whenever we were going to be out. We agreed. He asked what he could do to make things better. He gave us what we asked. Later someone from the kids camp approached us and offered to keep the kids all day! They were happy to go and had a blast! Thought the day my husband and I ate some of the best food and had some of the best drinks of our life. The service at the Yukatan was AMAZING!!! As well as the Kids Club service. Things ended up taking a 360 turn and I couldn't be happier. I would say that we would return to this place.

Mixed feelings about this place....Not what I'm used to with all inclusive stays. No mini bar , room was cute but nothing to go bragging about . I don't know if they do or not , but I'm sure they probably don't but if not they need to offer complimentary golf cart service , because you can easily get lost trying to find your way around because the posted signs for directions can be confusing. Also one of their best restaurants is not within reasonable walking distance. The buffet was not impressive at all, all I got was food poisoning which literally ruined the rest of my stay here . I spent my last day , with my face and ass in the toilet, which is also bad because there is no fan to circulate fresh air in the bathroom

Uncomfortable bed. Cheap and low quality mattress.

Unless you plan to drink a lot, I would stay away from this place. Overall, very unsatisfied with the experience. I unknowingly booked just 1 person, and when I showed up with my wife, the hotel demanded extra $159 per night. I tried reason with the supervisor that this isnt a fair price since the extra rate is a whole another reservation including the room. I asked if I can cancel the current reservation and rebook me with the 2 person rate. The supervisor said this wasnt possible since the person who can make this change wasnt available... So, I was over charged around $80 a night. I thought the supervisor at the time wasnt competent. Then, I tried forget about the charge and just enjoy my vacation. So the first day was alright and the staff around the hotel were very nice, but everything went down hill from there... I noticed the bed was very uncomfortable. My wife and I had trouble sleeping because it was too soft. My back was sore after 2nd night. The bed mattress was very old and cheap (picture attached). The buffet's quality was below average for the price they charge. The food was same for all 4 days that we stayed. We got little tired of it after the 1st day. My wife found a piece of paper inside her food not once but twice (picture attached). Very limited fruits and wasnt even fresh. And deserts were also limited and I didnt find anything that I liked, and I am not a picky eater. We liked the location at first since the pool was okay and beach was right there. But we found much better beach within 5 minutes of drive away from this location.

Quite possibility my favorite and highly looked forward to vacation if the year. Both the staff and management are the most friendly and accommodating. Service, quality and quantity are all here in abundance. I very rarely and occasionally hear someone whining about almost nothing. I truly believe if you can't have fun and relaxation here, then there is nowhere to please. The Akumal and Susan Khan are favorites, but lots of the restaurants and bars across the property offer a range and abundance of entertainment. I probably should delete this review so the word does not get out to too many people, I'd like to keep this piece of paradise quiet so I don't have to share! Love: Sian Khan rooms ALux restaurant +++ Bar in Talum Lobby Barb in Coba Maiko and Makato restaurants Alakin restaurant Tequila restaurant Don Pablo +++ Le Gourmet restaurant +++ Buffet in Sian Khan and Akumal Brazilian restaurant +++ Akumal beach and pool area, nice float up pool bar Akumal infinity pool +++ Too much to mention!

That's what you get at Xcacel. I didn't detect any crazy rip tides or strong currents - and went about a mile off shore - far enough that to lose sight of landmarks to return to the beach (forget about remembering where clothing, sandals and water bottle!). I did not see any turtles here but I did see a lot of fish - it was fantastic. One of the best beach experiences I have had in my life - I will definitely go back. This is a DIY, advanced level snorkeling and swimming beach. There are tours showing up with the occasional busload of people to see the tiny cenote and to trek onto the beach but - the beach is so big - I really didn't see many other people. There are no services - just a kiosk on the driveway for your donation/entry fee. Bring your own EVERYTHING.

We snorkeled on our own and saw quite a few fish and a barracuda. We didn't see any turtles, but it's possible that we just weren't looking in the right place. There's also a small cenote in the back with a ton of fish. I liked that the price of admission was low enough that we didn't feel compelled to spend too much time in the cold cenote water. The location is kind of hard to spot from the road. There's just one small banner with a picture of a turtle on it on the side of the road, and by the time you see it, it's probably too late to turn in.

Beautiful white sand beach, turtles in the water, minimal seaweed, what more could you ask for!…read more I understand why people make this beach their home base for their Quintana Roo vacation.! I'm not entirely sure one must pay for the guided tour to get in the water and see the turtles. I want to support the local economy, but perhaps there's a trick to enjoying this beach without paying for guided tour, think life jackets, and locker rooms. There is a restaurant on site, and my friend and I just gave a really big tip to the waiter so he would let us leave our bags at the table for 15 minutes while we snorkeled with our own gear to see the turtles. kind of hush hush, we did it very discreetly and quietly and quickly. I attached the screenshot I showed to the taxi driver upon arrival to get us to the restaurant without going through the Disneyland style entrance line and fee. I'm not sure I recommend this method, however, as I can imagine multiple ways this theory could have gone wrong. Side note, perhaps we were off season in late may, but we actually saw no turtles. maybe we should have paid for the guided tour after all.

He did a very bad job at sharing the ecological (and anthropological) history of the area He did a bad job answering questions... We were rushed through the cave ........ It is a beautiful cave though, especially the part where you walk over the water over the bridge ((but definitely should not be a top 10 National Geographic cave walk!!!..?!!! I have seen much cooler caves!...) The animal park is very fun. They take nice care of the animals and they actually have a great variety. My two-year-old had a great time with the animals. The cenote Was ***extremely busy !...... full of loud obnoxious tour groups who completely ruined the whole vibe There are catfish in the water that do not bite The cenote is small. The water is crystal clear! It is very fun to explore! Bring a mouth piece for the snorkel, as they do not provide those (the thing that enables you to breathe while you are under water) The water is FREEZING cold Even colder than they advertise There are no wet suits We went Thursday at 1 pm for the cave, and 3pm for the cenote, so I was not expecting it to be busy..... The cenote is 10 minutes away from the cave ( you have to drive there) Aktun Chen is about 20 minutes down a dirt road- once you exit the highway, there are signs saying you are heading the right way to the cave/cenote, but I kept doubting myself.. as the dirt road feels very remote Glad I went, but honestly would not go back again... PS- they say no sunscreen to protect the cenote, but allow bug repellent lololol -- do you know how much more toxic bug repellent is than sunscreen?? Hire better staff, and I will feel inclined to give a better review It felt like a cattle corral ..... did not feel genuinely cared for ((or that the staff genuinely cares for the environment!..!.!.!)

The ziplining was 10 ziplines, and the tour guides were fun and allow you to go upside down or 2 people at once on some of them. Make sure to bring money to tip the tour guides! The cave tour was the weakest section but I admit I did learn a bunch of interesting geological sorts of stuff. The cave actually gets a bit muggy and so the cenote was a great way to finish the day and cool off. They have you do a very brief "tour" in the cenote and then we were given about 30 min of free, unsupervised play time there. The water is clear, cool, clean and you adjust very quickly to the temperature. The lighting and colors were MAGICAL and the kids loved swimming amongst catfish. Water shoes were perfect for the whole day. You get a locker at each site. Towels and change of clothes are handy at the end of the day- don't forget those! And keep in mind that getting to the front entrance of Aktun Chen is not the same as getting to the actual reception area - it's ~ 3.5 km down a windy dirt road. Something to consider if you get motion sick easily, or something to consider if you rent a tiny car that might have difficulty on dirt roads.

When we got off the ship there was a line of taxis ready to go and the ride cost $20 for two people one way. When we arrived, the staff greeted us and guided us to the front desk where we checked in for our reservation. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time because it definitely helps expedite your entrance. One thing worth noting is that when we booked online it didn't show cabanas available, but when we arrived the host checked and was able to get us into one. I highly recommend getting a cabana if one is available because it gives you a nice private area to relax. That said, there are also plenty of tables with covered umbrellas that provide shade from the sun. What really stood out about this place was the level of service. It was incredibly attentive. I honestly don't think we ever waited more than a few minutes before someone came by asking if we needed another drink or more food. Our servers were Juan and Pops/Eric and both of them were fantastic. It felt like every time I turned my head one of them was checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. They offer all-inclusive food and you can either go up to the buffet or order directly from the menu and have it delivered to your table or cabana. The property also has multiple pools, massage services, swim-up areas, and gift shops around the resort. At one point what appeared to be a manager came by and asked how we heard about the place and checked in on how our experience was going. That really reinforced how focused they are on service. The location is right on the beach so you get beautiful ocean views while enjoying unlimited food and drinks throughout the day. Overall Mr. Sancho's delivers a great beach day experience with excellent service and it's definitely a place I would visit again when returning to Cozumel.
