I'm assuming they switched bagels, and this time it was so thin, when it toasted it was nearly burnt, dried out and hard. $4 extra for this was not worth it, so I'm afraid to go back and try again. Thankfully Bagel Gourmet is under new ownership and wow, what a difference, staff is much friendlier and the food is back to the high quality I remember as a kid. Went into the Absecon store and it was dirty and the lady was running around taking orders and touching the cash register with gloves and touching food ,yuck! I can always appreciate a good breakfast sandwich. Stopped in and got a turkey sausage, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel. My boyfriend got a pork roll, egg, and cheese on a sesame bagel. Overall, the sandwiches were very good. I always get a sausage sandwich so sampling the pork roll was a nice switch-up. I appreciate going to a place that they visibly make the sandwiches fresh; unlike some where they simply heat the pre-made sandwich in the microwave. So off I went to the bagel gourmet at Risley Square. It appears the help did not have their coffee this morning. Because neither of the ladies working at this eatery had even a hint of a smile on their faces. I was happy when I saw the Half dozen sesame bagels for $2.50. That's a great deal even for a good Kaiser roll with a hole in the middle. Bagel gourmet is convenient and offers a decent breakfast sandwich and a nice little restaurant. Since my original review, things have been looking up for bagel gourmet. Service has been good, they offered me a free danish one time because they gave me the wrong order and I had to wait for my bagel sandwich to get made again! Bagel Gourmet seriously came to the rescue for Teacher Appreciation Week! In less than an hour they had two gorgeous bagel platters ready for me to grab for the two schools I work for to thank our teachers for the amazing job they do every day! It came with more fixins then I could have planned for and made a lot of people very happy.
