This is a small Hispanic cemetery located on County Road 137 just a few miles outside of Hutto. It…read moreis less than an acre in size and most of the burials are post 2000 making it an active cemetery. It is basically surrounded by the quiet countryside, but there are a couple of residences nearby. There are a handful of headstones from the early part of the 20th century, but sadly they are in a sad state of disrepair. Many of these graves are well taken care of by living family members which adds some nice color to the place. It should be noted that there is another Santa Maria cemetery located in Pflugerville which shares the same name. The cemetery has been fairly well cared for, although there are some trees growing directly out of some of the graves that should've been cut down. One thing that is nice to see are all the touching the momentos and decorations left by friends and family. There is a single gravel lane that leads about 100 feet into the cemetery for visitation purposes.

Sandwiched between Round Rock and Georgetown in the countryside along County Road 110, you'll find…read morethis cemetery. It sits on about 3 acres and is oddly divided between the older headstones on the south side and the newer ones on the north side with an expanse of land in the middle. Right next-door is a camper and boat storage facility. The property is relatively well cared for, although many of the older headstones really could use a good cleaning. There is a Texas historical sign on site which speaks of the Swedish settlers in the area. This makes sense since many of the headstones reflect the language. One thing that I found odd was there were our family plots covered in pea gravel laid out, but they are unclaimed. For that matter, virtually the entire cemetery is laid out in square family plots in an orderly manner. One name that stood out here, was the name Bergstrom, which reminds me of Austin's airport namesake. The newest internment that I could find was from 2025 and there is plenty of space still available. One thing that was conspicuously missing from the newer markers were small oval porcelain photographs of the deceased cemented to the headstones. The cemetery is well laid out in family plots and is well taken care of, even the headstones appear to have been cleaned. The majority of the graves are from the 20th century but there are a handful of recent additions. This is referred to as a church graveyard, however, there is no church on or next to the property. The two most notable names found throughout the property are Almquist and Johnson. The cemetery sits on 27 acres and at this writing is still being recovered from overgrown…read morevegetation. There are some dedicated volunteers who have spent years removing the overgrowth and trash that was dumped here. There is still a sizable section of the graveyard that is thoroughly hidden by trees and overgrowth. The cemetery was begun in 1893. This is primarily an African graveyard and there are former slaves buried here. Unfortunately there are many graves that do not have markers. It is believed there are about 700 to 1000 people buried in this acreage. One thing this property also has an abundance of are African white Irises and one of the last surviving areas of the Post oak trees. The sign that designates this graveyard is currently being replaced and there is yet no Texas historical marker either. This is still an active graveyard and there have been recent burials. I found out that about 10% of the graves here are of infants. There are also numerous veterans graves.

This is a small family cemetery located about 200 yards south from busy US 79. It is a very small…read morefamily plot about 40 x 60' square with two large oak trees in the middle. In the middle of this cemetery is a Texas state historical marker made of pink granite. It is dedicated to Major Robert McNutt who was the commander of the Texas forces at the battle of San Jacinto. Almost all of the 20 or so graves are from the late 1800s. There has been some effort to repair some of the broken headstones, but a little more work needs to be done. Like most cemeteries of this period, there were some infant graves. I also found three markers of unknown graves. This cemetery is slowly being surrounded on all sides by new construction. It would not surprise me if at some point in the future it is relocated. Definitely some local history to be found here.

There are about four gates for entry and there are several gravel roads including some paved portions running through the cemetery. The grounds are very well-maintained and there's even a building on the grounds which house heavy machinery. One thing I was not able to spot was a Texas historical marker, however there is one in the works and should be in place by 2023. The one thing that stands out about the cemetery is it sheer size and number of headstones which number easily into the many thousands. Apparently the daughter of Daniel Boone supposedly buried here. I found out that this cemetery is about 114 acres in size with several thousand plots still available if you want to make this your forever home. Even the photos in this review can't fully capture the size and scope of this place.

This is unquestionably one of the most well-maintained, organized and manicured cemeteries you will…read morefind anywhere in the state. It is directly behind the Palm Valley Lutheran Church which is a historical building. All the graves are very well laid out and ordered primarily into family burial plots. There are acres of old headstones , recent ones and some waiting to be interred in their future plot. There is a single paved lane that runs through the center of the cemetery dividing the old and the new graves. I'm sure many of these headstones belong to the Who's Who of Round Rock and local history. This is still an active cemetery and I found several recent graves from 2022. There is also more room for additional plots on the back side should you decide this is the place to be your forever home. The church had a historical marker, but I did not see one for the cemetery. The pictures in this review don't fully capture just how beautiful this place is.
