Wall Discount Outlet - Everything I bought from Riddles/Landstroms & Gold Diggers. Wall Discount lost out on our business BIG TIME!

This is the Wall Discount Outlet and the sign points out "(Almost) Everything is $8.99". Sunglasses, handbags, flip flops, tshirts and more. I ended up buying a "Badlands South Dakota" ballcap and pretty much wore it the whole way back to North Carolina. And yes, it was $8.99 plus tax. I visited Wall as a child of only 9. I remember how amazing everything was and how much it reminded…read moreme of where I was born and raised (Mackinaw Mi). Black hills gold is what my family bonds over. While other families have their own traditions, black hills gold is our tradition. It's been going on LONG before I was even born. My grandmother left me her black hills gold ring when she passed away, and one day, I too will pass it down to my eldest niece as I have no children of my own. When my father passed away, his ring was passed down to his first grandson who has a son, he will pass it down to. My father passed away during my parents honeymoon they waited 30+ years to take. My dad was so busy adopting my sister and myself and needing to go back to being a public school teacher, they just never had the time for a honeymoon. The road trip my husband and I took is to explore out west while stopping at certain towns in honorof my father. Every store we were at in Wall, greeted us with a smile. Wall discount has a neighbor named Dakota Sky Blue. The lady and I bonded and when we got to our vehicle, I sobbed from deep gratitude. I have NO idea what the "lady's" (I'm being kind) name was who "greeted" us on Monday Sept 18 2023, but she should NOT be working there. She acted insulted after I asked her if they provided military discounts. Um... excuse YOU for being the one who's insulted as it's beyond insulting to know my husband served for your freedom to act like such a fool!!! I found a bracelet that was cute. I asked her what time she closed to make sure we would be back with enough time. I guess even staying open during working hours was too much for her because she closed up shop early. Even after all that, I still wanted the bracelet (silly me) I went to see if there was an owner or manager I could email and see if they could ship it to me, but they don't have anything posted. No hours of operation, no phone number and no email. This company must feel VERY VERY secure with itself for calling themselves a discount store when Gold Diggers has better pricing, military discount and even an email to write in case something happens to my jewelry. The issue with being overly secure about yourself, is the fact that black hills gold has actually taken a plummet and stores are merging together. You NEED people like me and my family who WANTS your gold. Especially since we came after all the tourists have left and just like the town I live in, we depend on tourists and word of mouth. Well, you left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the next time we come through, you'll be sold out by a company who actually wants to do business with tourists. Your lack of compassion truly costs you hundreds and hundreds of dollars we gladly spent elsewhere. We spent money at 2 Gold diggers stores and a Landstroms/Riddler before heading out of town.

This is a must see stop in Wall, SD!…read more I was worried it'd be too much of a tourist trap. And it is touristy. But it is cool and historic, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable (certainly better than Cracker Barrel, and at least Wall Drug is a one of a kind!). I was there for the food, but the rest of my family enjoyed wandering through the shops and playing in the outdoor area. They really do have free ice water and $0.05 coffee. Mind you, the water is icy but not especially tasty (well water?), and the coffee is pretty blah, but it was charming that they maintain those prices. I had the fish and chips, and then I had a chocolate frosted donut for dessert. The fish was three small pieces, and one piece was over-fried, but the fish was flaky. It came with a pre-made, hyperprocessed tartar sauce, but one smell of that, and I decided to stick to ketchup. The fries were fine. My husband had a buffalo hot dog (he said it was fine) and the broccoli cheddar soup (he enjoyed that). The kids ordered off the kids menu. Condiments are all in single serve packets except the ketchup, which comes from a dispenser. You order at the counter, then you find a seat. There is seating for 530, which I imagine would be rough in the summer, but we were there in March, so there was plenty of seating and a very short wait to order or get food. They call your number when the food is done. I think I waited about 10 minutes, which gave me time to get drinks and read the brochure with the history of Wall Drug. There is a person who clears the tables, so you don't have to bus your own table.

On our way to Badlands National Park, we finally gave in to the endless Wall Drug billboards. There…read moreare so many you almost have to stop, and honestly, they worked. The place is massive and feels like it sits halfway between a classic tourist trap and a legitimate retail stop. Some sections were actually really fun to browse, and I enjoyed exploring the variety of shops. That said, seeing a lot of made-in-China merchandise was a bit of a deterrent for me. The dining options were on the pricey side, and the food quality was just okay, nothing memorable or to write home about. Overall, it's one of those iconic Americana roadside stops that's worth visiting once in your life, especially if you have time to spare and enjoy quirky travel experiences.

I did that. The second company finally sent someone out to look. He looked, and looked and looked. Wrote down a lot of stuff and NEVER got back to me. In the meantime BHF came out again (for free) and this time had enough info to order a unit. When it came in they came out, removed the old unit completely, redid the gas line and electrical, even installed an outlet close to the new fireplace for a CO and smoke detector. They did it all without having to remove an existing mantle and big screen TV! They finished it right down to the drywall. I was able to do the mud and tape and put Airstone around the insert so it looks really good. Still have not heard back from the other place.
