Custom Concepts Construction (CCC) did two major jobs for us in late 2025, mostly involving…read morereplacing wood with James Hardie fiber-cement materials, other carpentry work, and gutters. We are extremely pleased with their work. We chose CCC for three reasons: 1. They are Elite Preferred James Hardie installers who carefully follow the Hardie standards of installation. 2. The co-owners and lead carpenter are experienced with all aspects of residential carpentry, having built homes and additions in the past. 3. The co-owner in charge of sales, Michael Swank, gave authoritative, unpressured advice and presented a masterfully written, detailed proposal with a detailed description and all charges. The price of their proposal was similar to, or lower than, those we received from other exterior contractors. One of our jobs was to replace all wood siding and trim with Hardie siding, trim, and panels on two three-story towers. I expected some difficulties with scaffolding over a stairwell, but the lead carpenter Kerdy and his assistants did the job masterfully, resulting in carefully executed, beautiful results. The second job was to renovate our 100-year-old garage by not only replacing sheathing, siding, and trim but also installing new interior wood beams (rafter ties and collar ties) and additional studs recommended by an engineer to stabilize the sagging garage framing structure. They skillfully manipulated the framing to straighten out the rear garage wall and front central post, which were bowing outward, as well as to straighten out the sagging ridge. During this process they erected temporary support posts inside the garage. We were glad to have hired a team who knew what they were doing with framing as well as exteriors. They also installed a new Pella window and figured out how to do the problematic moving of our shed next to the garage. Their subcontractor competently replaced all of our gutters and downspouts with larger ones. The project manager Daniel Harper, a co-owner of the company, directed the carpenters, handled the logistics of the job, and ensured the high quality of the finished product. We found CCC to be a well-organized and responsive small firm that is easy to communicate with. It was a particular pleasure to interact with Kerdy, the lead carpenter, who always provided clear and polite explanations. Billing was expertly handled by Katherine, who took our credit card payments without charging a fee. In summary, we highly recommend this company for exterior work!

One example:His estimate for tightening a kitchen cabinet ran into thousands of dollars!! He came up with some convoluted explanation about the wall of the cabinet needing to be rebuilt, the dishwasher needing to be removed, the wall next to it needing to be totally rebuilt ,the adjacent door also needing to be taken off, then needing to repaint the doors .....and on and on. Another workman showed me that the screw just needed tightening and refused to even charge me for such a ridiculously small 'repair'! He guaranteed his work for a year. The tile work he did on one tub has resulted in puddling on the floor every time the shower is used. It's been 3 months since he was paid in full for ALL of his work. Two weeks ago I contacted him to fix the puddling problem. No response ! Since my call to him the puddling is only one of a number of things that that he worked on that isn't working properly! His "WARRENTEE " isn't worth much since he doesn't respond even 3 months into the first yr! Must of been his wife or mother who wrote the favorable review before mine. They also seemed to understand what I wanted better than the other companies I got quotes from, so I went with them on the deck job. They were able to start the project when I wanted them to and were done in a couple weeks. I also had them repair the woodwork on my house around the deck and repair an outlet that wasn't working (for an extra cost). After completion, the deck and other work look great and everything functions as new. I am very pleased and finally started using my deck for some outdoor griddling this past weekend. Cosgrove and Sons recently completed a complete renovation of our master bathroom. We had been…read moreplanning this renovation for a few years and had gotten bids and plans from two other contractors, but were never able to come up with a plan which reflected what we really wanted done. After working with Stephen Cosgrove, we designed an Asian influenced bathroom which was just what we had envisioned and hired Cosgrove and Sons for the renovation. Cosgrove and Sons gutted our old bathroom, installed a new subfloor, tiled a wall, the floor and shower enclosure, moved a floor vent, installed recessed lighting, did electrical and plumbing work, installed a new tub, vanity, vanity lights and mirrors, faucets, towel heater, ceiling fan, toilet with washlet seat, hung up shelves and robe hooks, built a custom shower, built recessed wall niches for the shower and tub and painted the ceiling and walls. No subcontractors were used; the work was primarily done by two Cosgrove employees, Felipe and Miguel. They did a fantastic job. Felipe was careful to explain how things were being done and always consulted with me about any issues. Both workers were very polite and professional, cleaned up after themselves, and as a bonus, were nice to my dogs! The only real issue during the renovation was a delay in completing the shower enclosure. One of the pieces of glass was cut incorrectly twice, which delayed the project finish by two months, and when it was finally cut correctly and installed, we discovered that the piece of glass on the side was too tall, so there was another two week delay for a replacement. To make up for this delay, Lisa Cosgrove gave us free labor to replace all of our bedroom and front entry closet doors, which have been broken for several years, so I was happy! My husband and I love our new bathroom and are very satisfied with the work done by this contractor. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

We were very pleased with the quality of their work, which involved gutting the first floor of our old colonial, opening up walls and adding beams for structural support, building a brand new kitchen, adding a new powder room, and installing new windows, doors and wood flooring. We were also thrilled that they completed the project on time, in 10 weeks from start to finish. Phillip Cosgrove was our project manager, and he was excellent. He was on-site every day and did the bulk of the work himself with the assistance of one, sometimes two other employees, who were also great. He managed the various subcontractors and vendors who were needed for plumbing work, electrical, appliances, etc. He interpreted the architect's plans and didn't balk when we asked for a few changes mid-way through the project. When we encountered unexpected issues in the house (rotted wood, vents in odd places), Phillip and Stephen Cosgrove helped us come up with solutions and kept the project moving. We didn't live in the house during the renovation, but we stopped by almost every day and were impressed with how they contained the mess associated with a gut job and minimized disruption to our neighbors. We encountered a few bumps along the way (some miscommunications, some extra costs), but ultimately everything was handled professionally and to our satisfaction. It's been almost four months since we moved back into the house, and we couldn't be more delighted with the new space that Cosgrove created. We are very glad we hired Cosgrove for our renovation and would not hesitate to hire them again for future projects.
