The professionalism of the salesperson and the lifetime dry‑basement guarantee were the reasons I chose Badger Basement Systems. Unfortunately, the results didn't match the promises. Rain continued to bring moisture into the walls, and they wanted to charge extra to fix what was supposed to be guaranteed. What made it worse was the inefficiency: every time I called, they sent someone out just to look, without bringing the materials needed to actually fix the problem. I'm following up on a previous review. We had the Triple safe sump pump installed last January. Could not be happier with their service. Over the past few days we've had extream rainfalls, this system worked flawlessly. We lost power for about 18 hours. The battery backup was doing the job. The problem really, is that the "girl at the front desk" (which contractors REALLY need to stop using instead of just having the expert talk with the homeowner/customer, frankly...) has been told to "screen" customers. Even when you've filled out a form with everything they really do need. The questions you'll be forced to answer. Now notice: ALL of these questions can be answered with a simple site visit. This is copy/pasted from her email, with no modifications. ***Can you please verify the correct physical address at? First of all, the grammar is horrid. Second, all one has to do is paste the address into Google Maps or whatever and see what we typed is true; or just confirm it with the County's property site if you need to confirm the name or something. ***Is this also your mailing address? First of all, a mailing address is NOT required for a site visit. Second, at no point did I give permission to mail anything. ***Are you the owner of the home, and is the home for sale currently? First of all, you can confirm "For Sale" by a simple Google Search and going to Zillow. Second, even if I weren't the owner of the home, it doesn't negate you doing a site visit to understand the problem; you just need to tell the prospect that if they're not the owner, the owner's the only one who can agree to repair, and still provide a quote, because the owner needs it anyway. ***What is going on that you would like a specialist to take a look at? First of all, this is outlined in the form already. Second, there's no value in spelling what I "would like a specialist to take a look at" versus...I dunno...HAVE THE SPECIALIST COME OUT AND TAKE A LOOK AT" stuff. ***Is your basement finished? First of all, it was clarified in the message that the reason for contacting is to FINISH the flooring...which implies the BASEMENT IS NOT CURRENTLY FINISHED. Second, even if it were finished, a customer might want a different service from you - for example, sump pump repair, which has very little to do with whether it's in a finished basement. ***What type of foundation do you have, such as block or poured concrete? First of all, in a request to redo flooring, it doesn't matter what the material was, because epoxy works on all of it. Even if you couldn't do epoxy for whatever reason, concrete would work. So regardless, you should send a person out, they do an assessment, and RECOMMEND a course of action. ***What color is the exterior of the home, and the nearest intersection? First of all, Google Maps is a thing. If you're having a hard time finding houses, that's a personnel problem that needs to be addressed, STAT. My basement used to flood constantly, and it is now a much drier and more pleasant place with a new, efficient sump pump and under floor drainage system. My experience with the work crew was great. Someone even came out and promptly fixed a small area where the concrete hadn't been properly poured. Unfortunately, there were some communication issues that caused some unnecessary problems. The worst problem was that the original person who gave me the quote did not take into account the different elevations in the basement or the water seeping in through some very large floor cracks. So they gave me a quote for a sump pump in a location that had already been excavated, and water conduits only around the perimeter. Well, months later when the work started, the crew foreman walked in and immediately noticed that the pump location was wrong because it wasn't in the lowest point in the basement. He also noticed two prominent cracks that would have to be taken into account when designing the under-floor drainage. This meant the project would be more expensive than quoted, and also that the electrical outlet I'd had installed for the sump pump was in the wrong place. I'm going to have to have another outlet installed now, because the amount of water collecting around the misplaced GCFI outlet can cause it to fail, shutting off electricity to the pump and causing it to fail -- usually at the worst possible time. And once that happens, the basement is once again under water. There were a couple other instances of miscommunication between the office and the crew. It turned out the office hadn't informed the crew foreman that he'd have to install a section of wall; the cost had been included in the quote, but the office didn't let the crew know that was part of the job. There was also some confusion about how the bill was to be paid. I'd informed both the guy who gave me the quote and the crew foreman that a City of Madison home improvement loan would be issuing the check once the work was completed. But the office didn't appear to have heard about it from the guy who gave the quote, because I got some frantic calls from the office while the work was in progress that gave the impression they thought I was trying to weasel out of paying. I think these guys know what they're doing, and basically they did a good job for me. But there needs to be better communication between the office, the person who comes out to do the quote, and the awesome work crew. read more

I paid over $14,000.00 to have my basement waterproofed. Upon completion, I observed that they broke two antique items which had been stored for sale at a later date. One a birds eye maple corner wall shelf which had been mounted on the wall prior to their work and matched the bedroom set, and the other an antique round dining table-the apron was totally broken. I tried submitting photos in a pdf format but sadly, they were unable to open them. They also left a mess of gravel on the apron in front of my garage for this 69 year old woman to clean up. read more

I suggest to anyone who needs a new basement system to get competitive bids. I did not do that because Badger Basement systems was recommended to me by my plumbing company. This system was just way too expensive ($3000), given that it is trenchwork and only took three hours to install. If the workmen get half that, it is $250/hour. I know it is hard work and I am all for a fair wage, but this was way out of line with electricians, plumbers, HVAC, carpenters and pretty much anyone else. Even if it is a good product, I am left feeling resentful and ripped off. I don't feel good about this job like I do about all the other work I have had done in my house. read more

Beware! We hired Badger Basement due to what we thought was their strong reputation and many years of experience. Our salesman sold us their triple safe sump pump and installed with drains around the perimeter of our 1,100 sq ft basement. After spending over $10,000, our basement still has areas of water coming up through the floor and our second and third sump pumps have never needed to run. Our system was poorly designed and we were sold a pump that was overkill. Badger's response? Pay us $2,000 more and we can try to fix it by digging up more of your concrete basement floor. Project estimator Ron Danielski was thorough in explaining the system. Informative literature. Company checked to make sure scheduled work date was still good. Showed up on time. Two half-days the project was completed. Foreman Jake was very pleasant. Old concrete carried out in buckets and stone and concrete brought in the same way so no need for heavy equipment on the lawn. Their new concrete work looks great. They cleaned up afterwards. Submersible sump pump they installed is the highly rated 1/3 hp cast-iron Zoeller M-63. We went with only that pump but could install another two later into their Triple-Safe system. read more

When I had water all up in my business and my basement felt like a medieval dungeon I had to do something. These badass dungeon masters came in, fixed a crack with space age wizardry, dropped a pump in and piped it like some Super Mario Brothers, and were just cool dudes. Estimator was awesome and was truly professional explaining everything. The install crew guys were timely, most professional, updated estimate once they rolled up their arms got into it and had more information (to my benefit), and they left the house cleaner than they found it. The only thing that would take it to 11.... If they did dry wall and carpentry. Clean removal of wall section and it is ready for repair, but I gotta go find someone. Paid over 5K to have them install an egress window. When they came the day of, they pulled up the ground and cut my drywall to make room for the window. After this, they explained that there were no drainage tiles in my floor. They asked if this was okay to proceed. After asking if this would cause flooding, they explained no, it really shouldn't and its HIGHLY unlikely it would ever flood. Flash forward less than a year later and first BIG storm (about once a year level) our entire basement floods. Came in straight through the egress window specifically. Had to tear up the carpet and pay a company 1K to get the water out of the walls. When I contacted them, they stated that I had waived my warranty because I did not have drainage tiles. When I looked at my paperwork, I had waived it in my INITAL estimate. No mention after that point. There were also massive sinkholes in the sides of the egress window that helped with the flooding. Guess what, in the INITIAL estimate it states they are not liable for the settling of the ground either. All in all, they LEGALLY did nothing wrong, but shady as all living hell. Great communication, great professionalism, and great work all the way from the initial representative who gave us an estimate, to the office that handled the scheduling, to the installers who were extremely neat, professional, polite and knowledgeable. My wife and I have been blown off by several contractors in the past who were poor communicators, no such problem here! Before you call them make sure you have some idea of the work/project you want done. 3 hours before my appointment the rep called to say that BBS has a minimum work order of $1990 and that from what he understands what I'm looking to have done is well under that amount, approximately $300. However, if we had other basement needs, like a sealed sump pump system or window well waterproofing, it could make the minimum. Can you say up-sell? Gave me the option of cancelling the appointment, which I did not because they made a commitment to come out, not one to cancel if we didn't have $1990 worth of work done. read more

I am a disappointed with Badger Basement. I was told by my sister that this company has high ratings, that is why I gave them a call for a quote. The lady I spoke to over the phone was very polite, emailed me all the information, confirmed the appointement - she did everything she was supposed and I was pleased. I was disappointed with the salesman. He did not show up on time, nor did he call. When he did show up (few hours late), my father smelled alcohol all over his clothes and breath. Now mind you, this was in the afternoon. The quote my dad recieved was an overestimate for a basement that was not going to get fixed, basically the salesman was talking about patching things up. My dad told the salesman he would think about it, salesman stated he would call my father at the end of the dad. My dad never heard back from him. So, we (my father and sister) took our business elsewhere, where the salesman actually took the time to see exactly what needed to be fixed. My dad and sister were quoted almost what Badger Basement Systmen salesman quoted except that that this other company were giving us a lot more for our money. They spent three days working on our basement and so far we're happy! Granted it's only been about that amount of time since the basement was repaired. On the pre-installation day, there was a no-show, but that was due to a miscommunication which was promptly rectified. Gene and his guy made sure to call us when they arrived so as not to overly excite our pups. The first day they were a few minutes early, the second they were 30 minutes early (not a big deal to us because we were expecting the process to be lengthy), and the third about on time. The work took about 6 hours each day. They made sure to cover areas that didn't need to be demolished with towels. At the end of each day, they showed us what they did and explained what they were going to do the next day. Waterguard and trench drain were placed, gravel surrounded the area around it, and the sump pumps placed. They installed outlets to clean the guard system in case there was an issue. The cement was smoothly done (as in making sure everything was covered properly and explaining the curing process). Additionally, they saw two of our walls had large cracks running down the center. Not knowing how deep the cracks ran and rather than just stuff cement in it and likely we'd have the same problem down the road where the shifting foundation caused another crack, they put up two thick sheets of some sort of plastic which would allow any trickling water to trickle down into the water guard. We were told this would fix the problem. So far we're happy and would highly recommend them! read more

Fantastic company! I have used them for all my basement needs. Over the years our basement has developed a few different water issues, and these guys have always been there to help. Their sump pump systems are the best. Their professionalism & quality of work is by far the best. They do a great job hiring and training the right people. Not only in the field, but in the front office as well. You can always tell the success of a company by how well they answer the phones. Just recently I had a sump pump stuck in the pumping mode, non stop for a day and a half before I noticed it. Knowing what was going on, I knew the pump was going to burn itself out. Not being able to reach anyone until the next morning as this was all happening in the middle of the night. They were able to send a tech out right away. And sure enough as the tech diagnosed the pump, it quit & died. 30 mins. later I had a new pump and no further issues. I couldn't be happier with Badger Basement. read more

We had a great experience with this company. They take great care in making sure they cover all the details with you from start to finish. They are professional, from the sales person to the crew doing the actual work. Although there were things that needed to be done beyond fixing our basement water issues, we never felt pressured to do additional work. They simply pointed out potential problems, gave us an estimate to fix them and let us make the decision on what was reasonable for us to be able to afford at this time. The work was done with great care and looks like it was done by someone who really knew what they were doing. I was particularly impressed with how clean they left everything.
