My experience with Backyard Products / Heartland Sheds through Lowe's was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The original quoted wait time was 90 days, but my delivery and installation were delayed an additional four months beyond that. During this period, my installation was rescheduled repeatedly with no firm appointment date. I made at least seven calls trying to get answers, only to be routed to voicemail as the local distributors eventually stopped taking my calls altogether. It wasn't until I contacted the corporate office that I saw any movement--and even then, the dates provided were postponed again. When the shed was finally installed, the quality of work was unacceptable. The installer used nails instead of industry-standard screws, several pieces were missing at delivery (including the windows, which arrived days later), and the ramp was built lopsided with no structural support. The ramp fell apart the very first time I used it when riding my lawn mower into the shed. I contacted Backyard Products again due to serious safety concerns and also alerted Lowe's. Two months later, another installer was sent out. He acknowledged gaps throughout the shed that could cause water leakage. While he was initially told the shed only needed caulking, he confirmed the gaps were too wide and required foam insulation to be properly repaired. After another three-week delay, the final repairs were completed. Despite the prolonged delays, poor workmanship, safety hazards, and repeated follow-ups required on my part, my request to Backyard Products for a partial refund of the $1,500 installation fee was denied. I requested $500 as a reasonable concession for the inconvenience and disruption--this was refused. I ultimately paid in full, but I will not recommend Backyard Products or their installation services. I have made it clear to my neighbors who are considering shed purchases through Lowe's to hire their own handyman or installer to avoid the experience I endured. Bought a gorilla playground from them through home depot, they sent a wrong very important part. Their customer service is linked to all their umbrella companies so trying to get an answer is absolutely like pulling teeth. I can't finish the playground. Absolutely thr worst experience for a shed ever, and this is my 5th custom shed through 4 companies (different areas so couldn't use one i used elsewhere). They jack up the price for stuff you didn't want, force you to get it because they already included it, and then do a horrible job on construction and every aspect. Then when you try to get it fixed, they say it's not structural so tough. Avoid lowes as that's who stuck me with this stinker and definitely if the name backyard products shows on your screen, run away. read more

Spent thousands of dollars there. Set is already molding up that we had for less than a month and they said we will not have to stain it for at least a year or two. They only care about making a sale and once they have their funds they do not care at all about you. Can't even get a thank you or an I'm sorry we lie and the set is rotting already after being harassed to set an installation date so they can get their money. They even set the date without waiting for us saying we called and told them. Another Lie. We had to do ALL The Work To Make The Sale Happen !!! Their sales associates were awful. No one knew anything and were waiting to ask one person. WE MADE THAT SALE. Not You... No one even greeted us the whole time we were there. The only nice helpful person was outside sitting with the free water for customers at the far end of the parking lot, hidden..(??). I have not bought a play set from play nation but am pleased with the help and customer service they have shown so far. Knowledgable sales people were always nearby willing to answer any question while our child ran through all the playsets swings etc that they have set up on display indoors and out. As soon as we walked I they approached us to explain how the buying process works, options for delivery and set-up etc. Prices for these playsets are not cheap, but I know our child would enjoy any of them for a long time. read more

We had a wonderful experience purchasing from Play Nation. I did some research prior to settling on this company, along with a family friends recommendation. We took advantage of their demo sale. We purchased the stain from the showroom since it was a weathered outdoor set on the floor we purchased. After one coat of stain, it looks brand new. The showroom is very laid back with many options. The guys working there were not over-bearing sales people but clearly laid out all the information we needed to know and answered all of my questions respectfully. The installation was a breeze. The gentleman who came to install it had a clear line of communication the day before and was even early the morning of installation. He showed me the best place he recommended for it and it has been great. We are very pleased with our purchase and would highly recommend Play Nation. The bad reviews are a little baffling to me. We've had zero issues so far. Of course you have to stain and seal wood that is outdoors 24/7 to preserve it. Thats sorta a no-brainer there and was very clearly told to us when we purchased it. read more

We went to the Alpharetta location to purchase a playset our daughter has been waiting for. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by a grumpy salesperson giving you the looks as if you're the last person they want to see. Throughout the whole purchase not one smile, we would be lucky to get an answer to our questions. We almost walked out however since we drove all the way up there and our daughter was so excited we did purchase from there however if you're looking for at least a decent customer service I would not go here. I have never in my life experienced such a bad attitude to a customer. I hope the owner reads this review and educate their employees better, starting with "how not to give dirty looks to customers" unless the salesperson was the owner herself. Picking out the set was very easy and the buying process was good. 1 guy came to set up a playset that looks to me like two ppl should have set it up. The area where the swingset was installed was level and large enough for the set. The guy installed it in a bad position and the slide dumps out right on the landscape timbers. The beam that holds the swings is crooked and not squared against the tower. We have asked for a call back and received no answer as to what they are going to do. Meanwhile we cannot use a playset that we paid for. It is high quality at a great price but the install team needs some work. The guy also smoked the entire time he was installing it. read more

We had already purchased our play set by phone. Then we went to the store to purchase additional swings. Walked into the store to very unfriendly staff. Not welcoming at all. The girl at the desk was on eBay stopping the entire time. If we had not already paid for our play set then I would have cancelled due to poor customer service. read more

The playset was easy to order and delivery appointment was made easily. Installation took almost a full day for the Dane's Den playset since it was done by 1 person. The installer over drilled some holes and split the wood. We contacted playnation in Marietta countless times and they keep saying they will send someone out to fix and no one ever shows up. My husband has started to call the manager almost everyday now to get some resolution and when they talked to him today they said they spoke with your wife at the house a few days ago. That is a total lie because I did not speak with anyone, nor was I home the day they supposedly spoke with me. They really need to work on fixing their customer service. We paid thousands of dollars for this playset and deserve to have it properly installed. read more

My family and I ordered a $2000+ playset, plus a $179.99 installation fee, on October 4 and scheduled it to be delivered October 31, due to that being the first available Saturday. On October 30, my husband called PlayNation Friday morning to make sure the delivery was still on, since we had not heard from them. It was a go. Around 3:00 the same day, a lady from the company left a voicemail to say they didn't have an installer to complete the job and asked we call them back. When my husband returned the call, she offered the following Monday in a "matter of fact" way and a "that's what we have take it or leave it" attitude. Yet, we declined Monday due to not being able to miss work to be at home and having a dog in our backyard that would need to be inside while it was being installed. Please note the company's installation policy states the customer must give a 72 hour or 3 business day notice of any changes or rescheduling, or they would charge a $50 fee. Yet, we got the cancellation less than 24 hours before they were supposed to install it...shouldn't policy that work both ways? When my husband questioned that, the lady said we already had a discount because we got the playset on sale. Ok, so? Not our problem the company was offering a sale. She said we would have to talk to the installation manager, James. My husband requested James call us that Monday, but he never did. Not surprised. We finally worked out for the new installation date to be Saturday, November 7. Friday, November 6 rolls around, and the installer called and said due to weather he wouldn't be able to do it. He offered that Sunday morning instead. We agreed. Take 2...or 3...whichever you'd prefer to call it at this point. Sunday morning, the installer shows up...really nice guy. We originally had not told our children when the playset would be delivered to avoid disappointment if for some reason it didn't arrive, and that had worked in our favor the first time. But now, OVER A MONTH later, my 5, 3, and 1 year old children know it has arrived. They are glued to the windows. The installer begins opening the boxes and realizes the playset doesn't have the Timbershield coating on it! What? Are you kidding me? They had this long to get the order right, and it's wrong?!?! Glad we didn't take off work for this. The company's installation policy also states that the customer will be charged a $50 return trip fee if the site is not ready for the installer on delivery date. Um, how about if the product isn't what was ordered? The installer, who had hauled all these heavy boxes from his truck only to have to load it all back, was just as frustrated as we were. He offered to come back during the week saying that next Saturday was already booked. I'd be interested to know when those other customers purchased their playsets...probably not a month ago. I think it's someone else's turn to be bumped. Again, we declined the weekday offer because of the reasons listed previously and told him we would be calling James to set up another time. So, at this point if we're wanting to follow company policy, we should be reimbursed $100. Perhaps this company needs to know that the installation process is 50% of the sell. It's not about the service of ordering but actually getting what you ordered in a reasonable time frame. As I said, I will be calling James this afternoon, and I am wiling to bet he won't return my phone call either. If the playset doesn't get installed Saturday, I will probably just cancel the entire order and take our business to a company that can delivery the right product fairly quickly and has decent customer service. My children would like to play on one before winter. In short, I would not recommend ordering from this company...unless you order 6 months in advance, and I can't review the product itself because it would actually have to be installed first. read more

I ordered one of the larger playsets for my kids. You have to give a week lead time minimum before they install but the morning of the install, the installer calls and says," Just wanted to let you know, the green tube slide is on back order." I never heard from anyone else but the installer. Obviously it was not his fault but someone in this company knew that the slide was backordered and never mentioned a word about it. Now they say that the slide won't be in until a week later and then they won't install it until 4-5 days after that, SO much for customer service!!! Also after the install I noticed that a few of my accessories were missing, I called and again they do not care about customer service, they said oh well those can come with the slide too. So it's ok to forget things and not tell people and then just bring them almost two weeks after install! POOR POOR Customer service in my opinion!!! Extremely poor customer service - I purchased a playground set last Friday. Not long after I noticed I had a missed call from Playnation stating that their was a pricing error with the set I purchased and that although it was their fault they would not be able to ship the set. They offered a small discount or to cancel the order and asked me to call back. I called back and was put on hold for over 20 minutes without anyone ever answering. I then hung up and called right back to speak with the representative that emailed me and she answered right away. I asked to speak with a manager but he was as lunch so I asked to just have the order canceled as I was not interested in the set at the discount offered. Over the weekend I decided to research more on the set as it was a spur of the moment purchase due to being at a Playnation location with my kids playing and deciding to look online at what they offered. I found a set by Gorilla that looked the exact same at a much lower price than what they offered for "their mistake". I decided to email the representative back asking for an email address for the manager and also asking what the difference was between the set I purchased and the Gorilla set. I received a response on Tuesday stating that basically their was no difference except for the warranty and no mention of an email address for a manager. She then said she had forward my situation to their resolution team and that I would be hearing from them shortly. Come Thursday my credit card is still charged and I never heard from a resolution team or a manager I called again asking to speak with a manager. I was finally transferred to his voicemail. About 30 minutes later I finally get an email that my credit card is being refunded but no one even had the courtesy or respect to return my phone call. I will never order from this company again, very disrespectful and not customer oriented. read more
