Fantastic Experience!…read more Kathleen and her team are amazing! It was a fantastic experience from the beginning to the end of our first landscaping phase. Our first contact with Petro Design/Build Group was with Tricia, who walked us through the process, answered our questions, and put us in contact with Kathleen to schedule our consultation. Tricia is very professional, personable, and a joy to talk to. Kathleen arrived at our home for the consultation - not just on time but early. Immediately, we were greeted with a smile and a kind nature. We walked her through the yard, and she asked us what we were looking for. She is extremely easy to talk to and is very engaging in listening and suggesting options. The whole time she took notes, which was refreshing to see since previous landscapers we consulted just nodded and provided a design that did not meet any of our needs. She evaluated the slope of our yard to determine the wetter areas and took measurements. When she was done, she told us she would have a design for us by the end of the following week. We had our consultation on Friday, and she actually had our design emailed to us that following Monday. She provided a detailed sketch with multiple concept options and walked us through each area of the design. She responded quickly and answered all of our questions completely. She was always patient and understanding and never once did the process feel overwhelming. For once, we felt included and comfortable with every step of the process. Once our HOA approved her design, we were scheduled in for the first phase of our landscaping project - the front yard. She arrived the first day, preparation day, before the landscaping installation team. She went over her design ensuring measurement and placement of plant beds. Once Matt and his team arrived, Matt and Kathleen walked through everything before the team started the planting prep. Matt and his team are very courteous, professional, and extremely hard workers. We have terrible soil in our yard. It is a new build, so not only hard clay soil but plenty of construction debris throughout. They powered through removing grass, manually tilling in compost (due to nearby utility lines), and hauling away all of the debris. The second day was planting day! Kathleen arrived with all of the native plants and the trees were delivered. Kathleen and her team laid out all of the plantings according to the design with a few last minute tweaks that were perfect. She then walked us through the layout and checked if we were happy with the layout before any planting occurred. The team did an amazing job of planting everything and incorporating a few transplants. I cannot say enough about what an amazing experience we have had! We are excited to start our next phase this in early fall.

Update: A week or so after posting my initial review, the owner, John Hughes, reached out to me and…read moreoffered to "make it right" in exchange for me writing an updated review for Hughes. I was skeptical, because it was very clear to me that in his mind, the review was the problem (as opposed to my overall customer experience), but I eventually agreed. With John overseeing the project, my yard now reflects what my original expectations were. He manicured the bushes in my back yard beautifully - quickly, accurately, and non-invasively. I was floored at how expertly the work was done and how efficiently everything went. The communication level was good, and he was pleasant throughout the work. He showed up with his team the morning the work was scheduled, and explained to me that the sod could not be cut and installed until the day after (due to heavy rains), and would it be okay to come by and install it tomorrow? Thank you for the notice, and yes, certainly! :) In my front yard, which is patchy due to water damage, they installed the sod, and the yard looks really good now. They installed mulch around my front tree, and it looks very picturesque. I would not hesitate to contact John Hughes for another project if it came up. Thanks, John!

I contracted with Hughes to do work on my property to correct drainage problems. We discussed…read morecreating a swale to divert a large flow of water during heavy rainstorms away from my foundation out to a lower elevation in my yard. On the day of the job, the workers found tree roots that blocked them from digging out the swale. No one spoke to me about this. So instead of a swale, they dumped a lot of river rocks and made it look like a swale was there. I got suspicious and cleared away the rocks and found that at most they had cleared away the dead leaves. I contacted Carter Hughes about this and he said, Ya because of the roots we could only do what we could do. I asked Carter to look at it with me, but I never saw him again. So I contacted a tree company to have the tree taken down and remove the tree and take out the roots. Then I contacted Carter again and asked that once I had the tree out, he should send someone to complete the swale work. After a while going around and around with him on the phone, I realized he had no intention of completing the work, and it was useless asking. I don't believe that just putting the rock down to look like a swale and then never mentioning to me about the problem with the roots was at all an open way to do business.

On Saturday he said he was on my way to my house but alas, he didn't show until 4 hours later. I asked him for a time to expect him but he never let me know. I have a contract with them but he is very unresponsive and my yard looked terrible as we were over 2 weeks without a cut at the end of May and early June. I thought the issues that I had when I initially contracted with him to mulch and seed my yard in the spring were an anomaly but they appear instead to be part of a pattern. After first contacting him to do Spring bed clean-up and mulching, I waited 3 plus weeks and they never showed even though he stated they would mulch within the week after receiving the contract. When I finally was able to reach him, I had to insist that they do the work as they wanted to wait another 2 weeks which would have put us into late May for mulching and seeding and over 5 weeks from the initial request for service. (Then he never cleaned up/trimmed the plants in the side gardens. ) The delays, unresponsiveness, and lack of communication and the fact that he clearly misled, if not outright lied, to me about being on his way are indicative of the poor customer service and an unreliable business. I would advise you to avoid working with Pine Ridge Landscaping.

I had a horrible experience with this company. My neighbor hired them to do leaf and Sweetgum ball…read moreremoval. This company brought a processing truck that appears to have violated the law as it processed the leaves and balls in residential areas. First and foremost, it created so much dust that you could not see through the dust cloud to the other side. But also, the workers did not bother to check to see if neighbors' windows were open before starting, and mine were. This truck was sitting about 10 feet from my open windows, producing an amount of air pollution that was in no way legally acceptable for a residential neighborhood, and a huge dust cloud from the organic matter that they were processing blew into my house, all over my belongings, on my cats, and my cats started sneezing and running around frantically. I literally had to do two days of emergency cleaning after they left (including hiring house cleaners). And that was just the inside of the house. Thank goodness I was home to get the cats to safety. It was so stressful. When I went outside to tell them to control their dust, the workers offered to clean my car for me, as if that would make it all better, which was just bizarre, and the least of my concerns in that moment. I had dust in my hair, in my mouth, all over my clothes, and in my ears and eyes, plus it was also all over the house and all over my belongings around the house. Further, the I'm certain that the noise exceeded the legal residential noise limit. Also, the workers trespassed all over my property , including my front porch, and left piles of leaves all over my plants, which would have likely killed them if not removed. I have pictures and video to prove all of this. I thought of calling the company and demanding that they come back to make everything right, but I really don't want a company that is this oblivious and careless anywhere near my house ever again, plus what they did was too problematic to imagine that they could realistically make amends. It was truly horrific. If this review is removed for any reason I will follow up with a BBB complaint and a formal complaint with the county. On a side note, what this company is doing at large is extremely environmentally damaging to Monarchs and other endangered species. If you don't know about leaf removal, google it.

Dale, Jesse, and the office staff were professional and informative in all their communications (email, in person, phone). The crew's results showed that they worked carefully around internet cables, ornaments, etc., and cleaned up well. I contracted with Moyers a few days ago to have a Green Emerald Arborvitae installed in my front yard and also signed up for general yard clean-up, to include weeding and mulching and planting of ground cover. (I have a rather large backyard that consists of lawn, hardscaping, and a lengthy blue gravel driveway. The yard also features a 5' W x 50' L raised garden bed planted with various dwarf evergreens trees and deciduous plants. It is a lot of yard and I find it next to impossible to keep it looking neat and orderly.) The Moyers landscaping team, led by Danny, arrived on the exact day and time promised (no rescheduling on their end; what a blessing in this day and age). I watched the team working from my windows and could not believe how hardworking and efficient they were. The crew was absolutely dedicated to the work at hand and cut no corners. In short, they exceeded my every expectation. On Day 2, I was greeted at my door by Danny for the walk through of the completed work. I couldn't believe my eyes. I am not exaggerating when I say that my yard was transformed. I was so bowled over that I became emotional -- to the point of tears, and I do not cry easily. Needless to say, I will hire them again and have even signed on for their Platinum Lawn Maintenance Program. In my experience, Moyers is top notch -- but don't take my word for it. Hire them and watch your yard become one you too can be proud of. Pamela Johnson Kensington MD
