When we finally made our decision to make one of the biggest purchases of our lives, we were stressing over all of the unknown steps that needed to happen. The 2014 Leopard was listed at AYS (Annapolis Yacht Sales). Our first impression after speaking with Brent was one of surprise. He was actually more genuine and knowledgeable than any other broker that we have had conversations with. Not your typical sales personality, but a real person who understood our concerns. Being in sales most of my professional life, I have met some winners and others that only care about the amount of commission that they can make. Brent and his team went over and above the call of duty to make sure that we were taken care of, removing that ton of stress that was on our shoulders. I flew to Annapolis with my 12 yr old son and we were greeted with open arms. We were so grateful that we got to meet Brent and his team. I can't stress enough that you need a team of like minded, smart individuals to find success. The team at AYS helped with the survey, hall out, insurance suggestions and even fixing the AC. If you are in the market for a new boat, I would highly recommend the team at AYS and Pier 7 in Edgewater. We are happy to call this location our new home.

It appeared on paper to be my perfect boat so I acted quickly and but the boat under contract. The boat had already been hauled out of the water and winterized so it wasn't going to be possible to get a survey/sea trial until spring. I live in North Carolina so making a trip to just see the boat was not a trivial thing. We schedule a survey for late March and my broker, and I travel to Baltimore for the event. Very early in the survey it became obvious that the draft (keel depth) had been falsely advertised on the listing document. This was a deal breaker for me because I had a hard requirement for a shoal draft boat which this boat wasn't. I immediately stopped the survey and informed the listing broker of the error. He said he was sorry but there was nothing he could do. I wrote an email and sent it to Rob Taishoff the CEO and principal owner of Annapolis Yacht Sales. That was 5 days ago and I have yet to hear back. Nothing. I explained that my broker had flown to Baltimore from Charleston, SC, I drove to Baltimore from North Carolina, there were motel rooms and I had to pay the marine survey guy for his work. A significant expense all because they didn't take the time or make an effort to verify something as simple as which keel the boat had on it. Their website says that their business is "founded on the principles of integrity, professionalism, exceptional service and unparalleled knowledge within the boating industry." Well that wasn't true last week for me. And if you go to their website today and look at that same boat, it still has the wrong information showing. I would NOT recommend doing business with these guys. They don't care about the customer. They don't care about the customers' requirements. And the owner of the company can't be bothered to say anything to me. NO principles of integrity. STAY AWAY.

What a great outfit! I am a small boats enthusiast, and I have a particular yen for wooden boats,…read morebecause I think they're classier than plastic. CLC is the nuts. I own one CLC17 kayak which I bought from a guy in Rhode Island. It's big and a little unwieldy, but light enough that I can get it up onto my Subaru alone. In the water, it does everything well except turn. I've taken it in Boston Harbor out past the light, and I've paddled it through 8" deep streams in late summer. It handles both well, and is really very fast. It's also enormous, and can hold lots of gear. The cockpit is roomy. As a wedding gift to my wife, I also built an Oxford Shell sculling single from a kit I bought from CLC. This was my first ever boatbuilding project, and close to my first woodworking experience at all. I was intimidated, but the kits make a ton of sense. All the wood is precut to the right shape, so you don't tend to screw up and waste expensive wood, but it still feels like you're the one who built the boat. If you read the directions carefully and take your time, just about anyone can do it. They're also very good with customer support, both business-wise and with boatbuilding advice. Now that it's done, the boat it absolutely beautiful, and it rows like a dream. The whole thing was accomplished for less than half what a new fiberglass shell would have cost, and for about 1/10th what a comparably beautiful wooden boat would have cost to buy. Can't say enough for these guys!
