I've had the pleasure of getting a haircut from Natalie(Nati) for that past year+, every 2 weeks. Fades and scissor work seem to be easy for her! She has attention to detail as well. Best all, it's a pleasure to chat with someone has friendly as Nati. I always leave with a smile. Also Backroads Barbershop is always well kept and a fun vibe, so thank you to the management as well. read more

I needed a haircut and came across this place. I was quite pleased with the results and the price was cheaper than many other highly-rated places in the area. The barber took her time, did an excellent job, and had good stories to tell while cutting my hair. The vibe of the shop is definitely unique, but it is clean and bright. I would not hesitate to go back here if I need a trim and was in the area. read more

This barbershop has a welcoming vibe for everybody! Syv cut my hair and she did a great job. I like that the music isn't pumping too loud and that everyone can have friendly conversation. The owner Jacky is also a stand up person, and she's done a great job to ensure the culture here is healthy. read more

Best place to go. The owner has actually gotten me ice cream during the summer and I get them coffee when I can. This place is just vibes and chill, plus there's Sarge, little cute chihuahua up front. My Barber is Nati who i recommend to any other LGBTQ especially if you want to feel more safe and comfortable but there are other female barbers which I love to see. read more

I needed a haircut for an upcoming interview and received a haircut from Stefan Medina and he went above and beyond to make sure I looked clean and fresh. He has a great eye and knowledge to properly shape your hair to your hair type and face shape. He works very quickly and is just overall good company to be around. I am most definitely coming back in the future to get my haircut from him and would highly recommend booking an appointment with him if you need something clean and presentable. Outside of the haircut and experience, I would advise booking early in the day to secure a downtown parking spot that will be close to the barbershop. But even then, you'd be looking so good that wanna take a long walk so people can look at your new badass hairdo. read more

Jill is a truly incredible barber and human. She takes the time to look at all the angles and minute details to ensure the best cut. I've been going to her for 7 years and won't let anyone else touch my hair. She's truly the best. read more

One of the coolest barbershops I've ever been to. As soon as you walk in, it doesn't even feel like a barbershop, it feels like you're walking into a hip laid-back lounge with friends, you don't know, but a staff welcomes you and talk to you like your one of the crew. The haircuts, are clean how you want them and they definitely don't just try to get you in and get you out. They take their time, they talk to you about the cut you want and make sure they have all the details of what you're looking for before they get started. Very professional staff, very talented and extremely welcoming. Oh, and the other cool thing, the shop has some really great swag that you can buy and if you're lucky, which most of the times you will be, you'll see some cool motorcycles out front. Again, definitely a very chill, welcoming, cool, and unique shop. This is definitely the barbershop that I will definitely continue to go for my haircut needs! Thanks for for cool experience and great hair cut Backroads Barbershop Crew! read more

It's now been about one year since my first review and since my first visit with Jackie. A year later and I now started going every two weeks. I want to maintain the same look regularly by going more frequently now. Her shop is so unique but still has that old school feel when she's done with my hair. She strives to work with the best team. And it shows. Book one time with them and you'll become a regular, also. read more

Just hand a haircut by Jill. She's an amazing barber/therapist. When you go to a barber shop it's like a man's church. You talk about what you want. This is no ling ling $10 Supercuts shit, Backroads is the real deal. This a little bit of a sensitive subject but I recently had a passing in the family and coming to backroads for my first time was an exceptional experience. For the past 17 months I've woken up to your smiles and playfulness I look forward to seeing you when I get home. Thank you Jill for being a great barber and talking me through this tough time. I've been coming here for almost two years now, and it's hands down the best barbershop I've been to. The shop sits where the old Black Lagoon Tattoo shop used to be, which in itself makes it special to me. It has a classic, well-crafted aesthetic combined with a modern edge, making it clean, stylish, and welcoming. I highly recommend Jill! I first came to her in 2023 when I needed a haircut for my sister's wedding, and I was beyond impressed. I had always been used to quick, routine haircuts, but she completely changed my perspective on barbering. The attention to detail, the straight razor finish, and the hot towel treatment added a level of care I hadn't experienced before. Her skill and professionalism make every visit a great experience read more

Went get scheduled cut always on point. This had push my scheduled time a hour early no problem with that she able to get me in for another great cut. Thank you Jackie read more

Jackie at Backroads Barbershop is just fantastic, I have had her cut my hair and my nephews hair a few times already and she does such a great job each and every time. She offers suggestions and advice on hairstyles and makes you feel very welcome. Couldn't of asked for a better place to get a cut. Her one chair room, based on appointments.. is a breathe of fresh air from the lines most of these barbershops have now days. As long as she's in the bay she'll be my barber. read more

First and foremost, the shop is clean, aesthetically pleasing, friendly environment & overall everything you look for when you go to a barbershop. I got a haircut from Nati and she did a great job listening to what I was looking for (burst fade w/ v back & trim on top) and brought it to fruition exactly how I wanted. I have struggled finding barbershops in the past but my search is over. Would definitely recommend this place! read more

I discovered this barbershop when I was searching for my particular hair product, Uppercut. Backroads Barbershop is the only shop that I could find in the Southbay carrying this product. The business owner (Jackie) was very friendly and accommodating with my ever so busy work schedule and allowing me to swing by to pick up more product. After this I proceeded to schedule a hair appointment to try out her barber skills. Once again she was very accommodating with my schedule and we had a date on the calendar. I do prefer a simple haircut but I am very detailed and meticulous on what I like. During the visit, Jackie was very attentive and patient with all my requests. I am so pleased with how my hair came out, especially after this being the first visit. This barbershop provides many different services and not to mention they have competitive pricing. The shop is remarkably clean and has a beautiful contemporary decor. I will definitely be going to her from now on and highly recommend you give her a try You have a customer for life. Thanks again!!! read more

This shop will get you right. Andy cut my hair and beard. Let me tell you I never looked better then when I walked out that shop. Andy knew exactly what to do with the clippers and then hit me with a hot towel and straight razor. You pay for the haircut but come back for the vibes. The energy was great in the shop. Jackie was also cutting hair and everyone was just chopping it up having a good time. I don't know why you would go anywhere else to get cut up. 10/10 read more

Probably the cleanest barber you can find in this area. Operation hours are longer than the time shows on the door. They also accept walk-ins. All other reviews are 5-star. I think it's better to add a 4-star to make it real. read more

I was nervous going to a new barber after moving to SJ from Oakland. Tried some local spots but they were always pushy. But when I met Jackie i wasn't worried at all.
