We had the distinct pleasure of working with Mike Hanewacjer who lead a team of 3 others for a move for my 82 year old mother-in-law. Mike and his exceptional team arrived on time only to discover that the information he and his team were provided by their scheduler LUKE was wrong. Luke who I'm told tapes all of his phone calls was clearly told by us weeks earlier that we had a full 2 bedroom condo to move INCLUDING a heavy piano . Luke told Mike they were just moving a piano. LUKE GETS A RATING OF 1... Mike and his team however get a rating of 5 because they kicked butt and made everything fit (just barely) into the smaller truck they brought for the piano which was exceptional. Mike and his team were a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TRUST GOOD OLE LUKE with the information you provide to him because he was careless and nearly screwed the entire move up for us. We did speak with LUKE that morning and he insisted he was right and there must have just been a misunderstanding which there was not. LUKE was clearly told weeks in advance by us what we needed and he screwed it up. Had it not been for Mike who was fantastic, we would have been screwed. Hats off to Mike and the three guys he had with him for their exceptional hard work. The owner needs to get rid of LUKE and hire someone competent to schedule. read more

We hired BackBreakers NW July 2024 to partially pack a household of furniture and move it into storage in Burlington 124 miles away. The packing crew was quick, courteous and seemed competent. But later after seeing how a different BackBreakers crew unloaded and packed things the next day, I decided I would not use them to move my things into a house a year later. Particularly unnerving was the unwrapped TV set on the floor 3 feet from the door, lamp shades on top of glass lamp shades without any padding in between. I had not traveled the distance to supervise the unpacking at storage. My error. July 2025 I hired a different company to move items from storage into a home, and they discovered that a leg of an irreplaceable antique desk have been broken when it was placed into storage. I will need to hire a woodworker to repair the desk leg. Also lamp shades in a box were glass to glass without any padding around them. Two leather recliners have long-lasting indentations them from nesting upside down. In a box clearky marked "pictures" was the cookware top I'd been looking for a month. One particularly expensive original piece of art in frame was not wrapped at all and the frame set leaning against a wall in storage. Totally unacceptable. I do not recommend this company. read more

We were offered $200.00 for damages done by BackBreakers during our move to three items: 1. 48'' x 60'' oil painting, 2. The working mechanism of a Table/Bed 3. A missing lamp. (See photos) The move started July2,2025. This is the second letter that my husband wrote and we have not hear a word from them: ''Gentlemen, I am disappointed and frankly surprised that you have not showed me the simple respect of a response to my letter outlining our claim against you. I expected you would  be anxious to honor the effort of a good customer, from a responsible referral source, to settle a good faith dispute without complication or publicity.   My wife and I are not at any fault. We paid the full estimated amount for your services even though an expensive oil painting had been damaged because we  were sure your claim department would deal with us. The subsequent move  resulted in catastrophic damage to valuable furniture. We again seek to resolve the result of clear negligence without active conflict.  The common courtesy of the call from your attorney or insurance adjuster is appropriate and would be much appreciated.'' Tyler and Lucas did a great job with the moving process. My complaint was with the price. I was quoted $600-700 and agreed to that, but it ended up being $880. Granted when I expressed concern it was decreased to $825. But still. So if you use them nail down exactly how much travel time from and back to the shop in Burlington is. They did a few extra things for me but I also cut out part of the trip. That's why I was surprised it was more. read more

I had an outstanding experience with Luke and his team. I hired them to move me from my 4000 sq ft home in Mount Vernon to a 1300 sq ft home in Bellingham, and they were fantastic from start to finish. Due to an unexpected eye surgery, I was late getting them an inventory sheet, but Luke managed to assemble a team on less than a day's notice. They even arrived early after giving me a courteous heads-up call, which worked out great for everyone. The crew was incredibly efficient, kind, and needed very little direction--they just got to work. They handled all my belongings with care, and I'm happy to say there was no damage to any of my furniture. Luke kept me updated throughout the day, including when they were on their way to the new location and during their lunch break, which I really appreciated. He made sure I was happy with the process every step of the way. A week later, I reached out to Luke again for junk removal service, and once again he fit me in with very short notice. He was flexible, accommodating a time window that allowed other family members to be at the house to direct what furniture needed to be removed so I didn't have to miss work. My family members reported that the team did an excellent job--they worked nonstop for 2.5 hours and managed to fit all the junk into their truck like a jigsaw puzzle! They were prompt, professional, and the pricing was more than fair for the amount of work they put in. I couldn't recommend Luke and his team more highly--professional, reliable, and genuinely nice people. If you need movers or junk removal, these are the folks to call! read more

Dane and his crew showed up a little early, and finished unloading two hours earlier than we expected. They were all business, but clearly they liked each other and there was a friendly vibe among them. The crew of three loaded 2 pretty full 10x10 storage units and 2 partly-filled 10x20 storage units into a 24 foot truck in less than two hours. There was room to spare in the truck because Dane is apparently a Tetris grandmaster. We asked him to bring us some boxes and tape, and he remembered that. The process went much better than we expected. As my wife said: "We can't get over the shock and awe of watching you guys load in 2 hours what took us 2 weeks to sort, re-pack and organize." We have two more legs of our move to do, and we have decided to use Backbreakers for those, as well. read more

They should rename themselves Bank Breakers. I hired them to move our household 20 minutes away. They were slow and obviously running out the clock as they came in $500.00 over their quote. Also they did not finish moving my storage unit, I had to have friends help me with the storage unit. Bank Breakers seriously cut into my She Shed budget. I called these guys to move a new hot tub from my driveway to the back yard. It weighed 800 pounds. They arrived earlier than expected and called me when they were on their way. 4 guys showed up and even though it was a really heavy tub and a difficult path to the backyard, there were no complaints and the guys kicked butt and got it in place. Backbreakers recently moved my mom from Storage in Lynwood to the island, she's a boomerang and returning on Whidbey after a year. I helped her move at her new house, the staff that showed up were arrogant and entitled (with exception to Erin who was awesome but not the one in charge ). Brand new place with bamboo and hardwood, Backbreakers was going to wear their shoes across the house and when asked about booties they got defensive and walked off. The attitude and lack of professionalism was staggering for a $1400 quote. PLEASE don't give these guys your business, the owner doesn't deserve it until they get more customer centric. read more

The workers we met, Jeff, James, and Jerrick, were consistently strong and capable of almost superhuman tasks, all while keeping positive attitudes. From the get-go the experience was very positive: Rosie in the office was very professional and efficient in scheduling the move, followed up with a quote in writing and confirmation email and call closer to the moving date. On the actual moving day, two very nice and professional guys, James and Jerrick, arrived right on time and with lots of energy and wonderful positive attitude. Jeff and Logan run a professional business of cleaning up trash from your place or packing and moving you stuff. There motto says it all, we break our backs so you don't have to. They dig it out, pack it up and leave your place clean. They recycle everything they can to reduce land fill waste. I had them clean up a place with piles of trash including old appliances, tires and rusty and rotten stuff. They dug in and made quick work of a challenging job.
