The Lab Salon was on my way from my house to the Prado, and I decided one day to stop in to see what they could do for my big day. Wesley introduced himself as a makeup artist, I liked the place, he was extremely friendly, and so I booked a consult for the week before the big day. I recommend getting a consult before your actual wedding day. During our consult, we found that I wanted a few things done differently for the big day (lighter foundation, different color eyelids..) The day of the wedding he made it into the salon dark and early at 6AM to meet me for my afternoon wedding. He got to work.. and he didn't stop working till I looked perfect. I have never felt so beautiful in my life. I walked out almost wanting to cry because I looked so great! He is truly an artist, and you will feel like a canvas being painted on. You will feel him add small brush strokes to your face that seem so insignificant, but its that detail which makes the end result so stunning. He is a perfectionist, and will do your makeup with extreme mastery. His products are clean and sanitary, of good quality (Mac mostly), and of variety. He will make you look like you, but better and fitting for your big day. In photographs, the make up looked stunning, no touch ups had to be done in my pictures. He uses false eye lashes (if you've never worn them before, don't fear!), I could never feel that they were on my eyes (that was a first). The next morning I woke up, and my make up was still perfectly in place. I had to scrub very hard to get the make up off!!! Even when I started bauling, no one knew, nothing on my face changed. I didn't feel overdone, or like I had cake on my face. It felt light (for a full face of makeup) and looked great throughout the whole day. He will make you look beautiful, and he's a pretty funny guy to talk to as well. I highly recommend Wesley Dors for your makeup artist for any occassion.

When I finally got tired of wearing the same hairstyle everyday, I booked an appointment with Wesley hoping he could fix my hot mess of thick Asian hair. Short story is, he did! And I look great! In more detail, Wesley really took the time, thought, and effort to see what style would work best for my hair, face shape, personal style, and for when my hair will grow out. He made sure my hair would have bounce and lift without it being too prone to frizz and fly aways. His new space in Jean Claude is gorgeous, parking is easy in its own lot in the back of the building, and it's in a really cute neighborhood. He was thorough, professional, and charming. I'm already thinking of what to ask for my next haircut! But even if I don't have any ideas I feel secure in that he'll know exactly how to maintain my current cut or how to change it up in a cool way that suits me.

I didn't have a pleasant experience here. Jane was my stylist, and unfortunately, I was very…read moredisappointed with both the service and the overall experience. To begin with, my hair wash felt extremely rushed. She was done washing my hair in barely two minutes. I could see another stylist washing another client's hair nearby and taking the time to do it properly, but nothing of that sort happened with me. Their haircut service description clearly states, "Every haircut includes a consultation, blow dry and scalp massage." There was definitely no scalp massage for me, not even for a minute. Secondly, I found Jane's tone and body language quite snappy and rude. During the consultation, I initially told her I wanted the first layer of my face-framing cut to come down to my chin. Within the first five minutes of her starting my haircut, I mentioned can i actually have it little more shorter than chin. She told me yes that she could always go shorter later and that she was only doing a brief cut initially. When she started drying my hair, I reminded her again that I wanted it shorter, and she said she would do more cutting after drying. However, when she eventually said she was done, I pointed out that she still hadn't cut it shorter. She then snapped at me and said that I had told her I didn't want it short. At that point, I genuinely wondered if she had been even paying attention to any of the conversations we had after she started my haircut. I had also told her that it was my birthday and that I was getting my hair done for my birthday celebration that evening. I specifically asked if she could add curls at the back while styling it so that my hair would at least stay styled through the evening. Unfortunately, the styling was very poor. The curls didn't even last until I got home and were completely gone within an hour. I also realized afterward that my scalp was still oily, which made me feel that my hair hadn't been washed properly in the first place. By then, it was too late for me to wash and restyle my hair before my birthday party that night, which was extremely disappointing. I regret going there for my birthday. Another irritating part of the experience was her long nails repeatedly scratching my neck and face while she worked on my hair. She did apologised once but it still continued happening throughout the service. Overall, I was really disappointed, especially since I had specifically mentioned that this appointment was for my birthday. I definitely won't be returning to Jane, and based on my experience, I would not recommend her for hair styling services.

I've been every color from blonde to red; have had extensions; and gone from long hair to a bob to long hair again and Wesley has masterfully performed all these services with perfection. I think one of the awesome things about Wesley is how educated and up to date he stays on hair trends and techniques. He believes in continuing education and strives to get better at his craft--which I truly admire. Wesley is super talented and an all around amazing human being--when you're sitting in a chair getting your hair dyed for a few hours I think it's important to have a stylist you can connect with and most importantly trust.
