Wow! I was vacationing on Hilton Head Island this summer (2016) with my family and searched the internet for raw milk and natural foods, when I found Back to Nature. I called and spoke with Linn who I believe is the owner. She was very, very nice. We drove over and sure enough Linn had gorgeous raw milk (she offered to give me a taste and I accepted), organic, grass fed and hormone free butter, and lots and lots of other incredibly yummy organic produce, and prepared foods. I also tried and purchased the jarred beets. What a wonderful oasis and resource! Food prices were very reasonable, especially coming from Southern CA. Linn is highly knowledgeable, gracious and charming. I'm definitely returning for more high quality goodies next summer when we're back. read more

I just created a Yelp account solely to write this review because the experience was so poor. I went in with a list of ingredients I needed for some large quantities of recipes I'll be making in the near future. List in hand I began making price notes (I'm making huge quantities of these recipes and price comparing local ingredients is so necessary to make sure I'm staying within budget). The owner demands to know what I'm writing notes for and then goes into a detailed account of why she does not allow note taking. Someone apparently burned her in the past by making notes and writing a review of how her prices were actually much higher in the store than listed online. I stood there and empathized with her for the 5 minute story and the attitude I received even when completely agreeing that it wasn't okay at all for that person to do that (even though realistically if you sell products and aren't being honest online then bad reviews like his are a chance you stand to take) was appalling. I agreed with her at every opportunity and she interrupted me literally every single time and ARGUED with me that "no. It wasn't terrible..." "No. I'm not protecting myself..." And then would go on to tell me why it was so terrible and "you can understand then, and I know you do, why I gotta protect myself". I was trying to be as appeasing and polite as possible but I wasn't even able to explain much (my innocence?) because she interrupted me and even put her hand up to stop me from asking a thing. I would have bought her out of a few items. And I would have done it for future purchases as well but the entire experience was unbelievable and even if she had lower prices (she told me I "just had to take her word for it....no jotting down prices."......what????? ) I would never give her my business. At the very least she could keep the issue with the guy that wrote the review of her stuff after taking notes and pics of prices (I was not taking pictures.) in the back of her head, asked me and future patrons that do the same thing nicely what their reasoning is and then maybe determine on an individual basis if treating them like they're someone that's trying to hurt their business is worth it and then go from there. Just assuming that there was bad intent and then having a nasty attitude at all costs just lost her a GREAT customer and definitely anyone that asks me if I use her. I will steer people clear in the future. I'm a local Blufftonian, born and raised and I've never been treated so badly in a local retail shop, ever. Btw, I did get the prices I needed and I'm glad I didn't just "take her word for it" like she wanted me to because she does NOT have the best prices in town for local ingredients. There was only one ingredient out of 7 that was priced better. Disgusted, ruined my day. read more
