GREAT PLACE TO CHECK OUT WHEN IN REDLANDS. JUST DON'T GET TOO EXCITED. Why shouldn't you get excited? Continue reading below to find out why... I've visited here plenty of times before. Not often do I find myself buying something, mainly because I am usually searching for something very specific. Their selection on items here is very good. Moreover, this is one of the bigger places in Redlands for antique shopping. The service here is not all too bad, but I can't say it is regularly welcoming or friendly. I often feel no different than being inside a museum when walking in. You know, that feeling as if you are welcome so long as you do not touch anything? Or like that place you walked into at the wrong time unless you had some real purpose being there? That's the feeling! Moreover, it feels a lot more awkward buying something... AND IF you up buying something you really like, BEWARE! Please read my short experience: Quite recently I visited and happened to find a Polaroid Sun LMS. It was in really nice condition but the exposure button was jammed. I had one of the gals there help me get it out of the glass enclosure as it appeared to be in a locked glass window cabinet. I was thrilled about the find and it clearly was noticeable. I reacted as if I just struck gold! Moreover the camera was even to be discounted at 20% off - it was in the discounted area which was clearly marked. To the woman who helped me get the camera, I asked her to hold onto the camera for me as I wanted to check out the other cameras there... She held onto it for me at the check out desk which I returned for a few minutes later. Well upon checking out to pay for the item, a differently lady this time, took the camera and casually tore off the cute hand written paper price tag off in the most awkward way. I saw the price tag for a good moment just before it was torn off the string and crumpled into her hand... I swear I saw the price was written for $18. When all was final at the check out desk, the item's final price was not $18, it twice as much... $35 is what I got rang up for. The price somehow doubled. That was a really awkward feeling moment - you know, that feeling you get when you absolutely know you've just been jipped? I had asked if that price included the 20% off... to which the woman simply said "yes", with no explanation from her of what initial price I got the 20% off from. Her response was short and insincere. The whole check out process was ironic too because they have this really aged system for ringing up a customer. They use this older looking computer that looks like it runs some kind of old IBM computer system. Anyways, I doubt I got the 20% off, and I feel like I paid more than what they initially priced the item up for. I'm not usually the suspicious type but my intuition rarely ever lets me down. I wasn't going to make a deal about it though. People probably rarely buys stuff from here as it is. So I paid the $35. Lesson learned! THE LESSON: When shopping here, don't get all excited when you come upon something that excites you and know that you will end up buying. Definitely make sure you get a clear look at the price tag and walk the item up yourself... otherwise the price might take a hike when you least expect it. I hope this information helps you while shopping for antiques. Closure: The Polaroid ended up being worth the gamble and I wasn't expecting to find this camera. Oddly I walked into this antique store only hoping on the chance they would have a vintage Polaroid anyways. I'm happy to report it is in GREAT condition and it was worth the gamble. Everything works! The button was jammed because it had an old used original Polaroid film pack that remained inside it. read more

Went in looking for pie dishes at Goodwill, Salvation Army, and other thrifty stores but couldn't find any. I finally found some (three) from a few shelves here. It's an interesting setup. The merchandise you are buying isn't all from one person. Many sellers might share a space with their goods. I had a nice time exploring all the curated goods. This spot seems to have more variety than the other antique stores around town. If you ever need vintage bakeware that's affordable, I encourage you to try here! read more

It's a great little place to come and take a look and walk around and reminisce through some very old items. Again, this is antiques so expect a antique price. I found two very cute little gold plated, diamond clustered swans and I'm pretty sure if I found them anywhere else that would be a little bit more expensive than here. I didn't mind paying what I paid for him because it was something I wanted. . A lot to look at they have the garden department that I never knew was there. They have an entire back department. It'll take you a couple hours. It did me just walking around.. the women working here are all very nice. They will ask you. Have been to Back in Time many times and have enjoyed browsing and finding treasures. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful, until this last visit. My friend found an item that they liked and wanted to know the price, the lady (didn't get her name) called the vendor and was advised the price was 150.00 but would take 100.00. My friend started to tell the woman who originally helped us they wanted to make an offer, she didn't let them finish, and said she has already come down. She wouldn't hear the offer or call the vendor again. Not the best customer service. This wont stop us from going back since we like the store and enjoy browsing. read more

I LOVE this place so much! I love coming here multiple times a month to see if vendors have replenished their stock, hell i sometimes even come in multiple times a week to browse and leave empty handed because I'm on the hunt for specific things! Ive NEVER had any problems before but today my boyfriend and I went in and were looking around and a lady kept following me around and watching me. At one point i was looking at some paintings on the wall and trying to look them up online to find more information about them based on the tag and she came and hovered nearby until I moved from that section and then kept appearing wherever i moved to. When my boyfriend and i were getting ready to leave and were looking at one of the last display cases near the door she said "Wow you two have been wandering the whole store for a while but still don't have anything." It might have been a misread of tone and she was just being polite/making conversation but it felt incredibly accusatory as she stood in the path between us and the exit. 1. Most things are in cases so wed have to ask for them to be unlocked. So it's not super unlikely that we would be empty handed. 2. There were quite a few other people around today and she seemed to leave them all alone. (My boyfriend and I are young and we are not white.) I'm honestly devastated at this experience and it's making me Not want to come back which is a shame because I've found beautiful pieces here at reasonable prices! But this experience made me feel incredibly unwelcome! Even if she was just hovering to be there to open a case for me if i needed it//she was making conversation, for the first time I felt like I'm not welcome into the store if I'm not going to buy something. read more

Horrible experience. My mother and I decided to walk around here with my one-year-old son since we always drive by this place and just haven't stopped in. The items in there are really neat, especially because we both love collecting antiques. However, the ladies working the store were so unbelievably rude, they glared at us every time we passed by them, they followed us throughout the entire store, making us both extremely uncomfortable. To top it all off, my mom decided to pick up my son from his stroller because he was getting antsy, and she made fun of his natural curls, by scoffing and said "Wow, get a load of that bed head." This was extremely disheartening and not respectful, my son is Hispanic and has naturally curly hair (which is really adorable by the way). Safe to say that we did not purchase anything and will never be returning. I'm extremely sad to see similar reviews. read more

The stuff is cool, but who is paying $145 for an umbrella? The staff (mainly older ladies) are patronizing and straight-up rude. Borderline raising their voices at us while we were checking out and clearly had no appreciation for our business. The cashier somehow managed to mix up what I had reserved at the register and made another customer pay and then further demanded I pay back the person mind you neither of us were aware she had paid in the first place. Another time, I went with a friend and asked about seeing a specific case when the lady "helping" couldn't find the key was very pushy towards me to come back the next day. Turns out she just "couldn't find the key". When we did come back no one cared to greet us just assumed and pushed at us about the box again. There's a reason why this place isn't as busy while the store downtown is always packed. Save your time and just go downtown where they actually want customers. read more

This is one of my go-to antique stops. I have been shopping here for years and my home is filled with goodies. Don't shop here if you're looking to thrift - this shop isn't for you. I love this shop because it's for true antique shoppers that love the hunt of quality & history. Pricing is reasonable, you can always ask to contact the booth owner to negotiate. The owner of Back in Time is friendly and does a beautiful job of decorating the front of the store for the time of year. They have a bathroom which they allow customers to use which is fantastic. read more

Large antique mall in Redlands, lots of unique finds from different eras. Good prices on antique furniture. And lots of antique kitchen gadgets and vintage toys. We found the perfect piece of furniture for my daughter's room and they were nice enough to load it into my truck for me. Highly recommend. read more

ummm. they have cool stuff, don't get me wrong.. but i wanted to leave when i saw an umbrella for $145 FREAKING BUCKS ! also, i saw another review saying the old ladies are possibly discriminating against younger people, and i think so. my friend and i went one day and came back another. the old ladies spoke in a patronizing tone, almost raising their voices at us. even when we were checking out! also, they told us they didn't have a key to a box and turns out they just had it the whole time.. when we came back they immediately assumed we wanted to open the box again. not even a hello, or warm welcome. gee thanks read more

Fun spot with a large amount of stalls, prices are pretty high overall, and some really cool pieces. Came in around 4:00 and was rushed out with several other customers at 4:45, despite closing at 5pm. Spent around $50 on several items and doesn't really seem like my business was appreciated. Was pulled to the front of the store at 4:30 and asked to stop shopping, waited for 2 employees to help one customer who was presumably a regular. Not a big deal, they seemed overwhelmed for some reason. Not friendly, but still professional. Girlfriend also paid $0.05 for tax on a $12 purchase, while paying with cash...? My family and I love checking out different antique stores and we decided to check out Back in Time on our way to Palm Springs. Definitely one of the top 3 antique stores we have ever been to. The overpriced and mediocre item selection was disappointing, but not as much as the horrible conversation I had with one of the women that works here. After pointing out that the large case of "mammy" memorabilia is racist, inappropriate and not a good look, she replied by nervously telling me that "those have been around for a long time" and "they aren't mine, but I love them." I'm disgusted with the people that run this store, and I will never give them my money. I would hope that in 2020, we could all agree that items that represent America's deep roots in racism would no longer be considered collectible and certainly not put on display or sold as such. Im not sure if these old ladies are traumatized by the high schoolers but they appear to be pretty discriminating against younger looking people and people of color! The older ladies have GOT to snap out of it I went with my friend and they tailed us the whole time (both poc) they refused to answer any questions we had and quite literally tossed our change at us when we did purchase something! It felt incredibly unwelcoming and makes people believe in the Redlands is a white racist town stereotype these ladies snarled at us to leave the whole time! I asked the lady behind the counter to give me her take on the antique piece I had in the family for years. She rudely stated, "We don't do that...go on eBay..., once again...." She was very rude, grouchy, and acts like potential customers are bothering her. I don't get the logic, of people working a front counter who don't have people skills. It's good to look around and window shop if you don't mind the old creepy lady following your family around the store staring and being extremely rude when asked questions. We spent over an hour looking at every single booth. So much great stuff to see. Staff was very friendly. Like most antique malls, Back In Time is a mixed bag. For the most part, Back In Time offers a lot of true antiques and vintage items, from Victorian furnishings to 50s advertising and ceramics. There is housewares, including lots of dishes, flatware, and linens. There is also a lot of jewelry. Don't expect a lot in terms of vintage clothing. Most clothing is contemporary. Some military items. Large garden area with unique offerings. As it is a mall, prices vary on the dealer. Most stuff is about what it's worth, while some stuff is overpriced. read more

I've always liked antique stores for unique gifts and the girl that rang me up was very nice,itit's just kind of disappointing when you watch another woman who appears to be management greeting people, talking to customers and all she does is look at you periodically, give you a stare here and there l, walk right by you and not say a word all the while greeting new customers as they walk in the store really doesn't make you feel very welcome so I guess next time I do need an antique for a unique gift, I will not be going to Back in Time. The short women with the dark brown burgundy dyed hair was rude as can be with an attitude to go with it. This was my second time there and both times she treated me and others with a condescending tone. Don't ask for help from her because it will be a huge imposition and she will let you know that. I stopped by here while on a business trip in summer 2018. This is a large place with a lot of stuff, mostly furniture. The prices on many things range from high to astronomical. For example, a 1960's rotary desk telephone, still common as dirt, $ 85! Where I am from, those are at the dump salvage store for $ 3 and still go begging. The sole climate control seems to be ceiling fans. Hot in summer. Had I read the reviews earlier and known the way they treated Erica, I would have made a lot of furtive movements and hidden around corners to drive them nuts, or maybe not gone in at all. My impression of this place is that it has a lot of things mainly of interest to women, that are vastly overpriced by clueless other women who have cleaned out granny's attic and are using their mall booth as expensive mini storage. If you are a guy, you will find nothing of interest here, or if you do, it will be 2-5 times the eBay price level. Would I go back? No. read more

This was my 2nd, and LAST time EVER stepping foot in this establishment! I am a collector of black Americana, and have been to just about every antique store in Southern California looking for treasures. BUT, If you're black, & don't want to be followed around the entire time, don't bother coming here. I left almost in tears. I have never been followed around any establishment in my life. I've always theorized that individuals that claimed to have been followed in stores were either paranoid, or overreacting but I was wrong. There is an older blonde woman (didn't catch her name) that walked around and LITERALLY tailed me my entire visit. Both times! Every time I looked up, she was "fixing something" right next to me. When I made eye contact with her, she'd ask me if I needed help find something . Although I did find the cutest 1950's mammy iron key-holder, I'm tremendously regretful that I allowed myself to stay in a store that I was obviously not welcome in. It saddens me to know that even though I am a tax paying, college graduate, & law abiding American, I could be singled out the way I was. Wow! Really. I've been coming here for the past two years and my recent visit I brought a friend to experience the joy I have. They lady with the joe dirt haircut(mullet) was extremely rude and treated me and my friend like criminals as well! She had one of her associates follow us through the whole store and kept announcing over the loud speaker "security on aisle 6 etc.." as we entered a new isle.
