Ross grew up in a large Italian family in Chicago and wanted to bring the classic "old-school" Italian flavors he grew up with to Utah after finding they were hard to come by when he moved here. The restaurant is located in Taylorsville, about 10-15 minutes southwest of downtown Salt Lake City, making it an easy stop whether you're staying in the city or exploring the surrounding area. Always great to spend time with family, and this was the perfect place to do it! We had a fantastic dinner. The calamari was crispy, tender, and delicious. The gnocchi was flavorful and comforting, and my steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare. The restaurant is much larger than it looks from the outside, with a spacious banquet area in the back that's perfect for private parties and family celebrations. The pasta and bread are made fresh daily, and you can absolutely taste the difference. The food has that authentic, family-recipe Italian feel that is getting harder and harder to find. It is grilled, which adds a smoky depth you do not expect from a bread course. It was exceptional. The tiramisu trifle was the one miss for us. It needed more moisture to really land. Skip it and spend that room on more pasta. A note on the experience: there was one server covering the entire floor and what appeared to be one person in the kitchen. The restaurant was not busy, but we still waited longer than the situation seemed to call for. It did not ruin the meal, but it is worth knowing. The bathroom also needed attention.
