We stopped for lunch after spotting this place online to try the typical Sardinian (open faced) sandwiches. It's pretty small inside but there's also a bunch of outdoor tables. After meeting us they delivered English menus.
There's lots of choices of sandwiches either with traditional Sardinian bread (open-faced like a big crostini) or more traditional on a huge bun-like rustic bread. Both types were ample but very reasonably priced. There's lots of specialty varieties with various meats cheeses veggies and sauces so you can create something custom.
In our group of 4 we tried an open faced prosciutto with fig jam-lots of meat, a beef/cheese/shredded lettuce with "gold" sauce (yellow tomatoes), a prosciutto with mozzarella EVOO and basil and more. Pluses: very unique and very local food. Overall tasty but the English description does t always provide sufficient information -for example my "beef" was little strips of fried steak-a bit chewy and the open faced prosciutto was loaded with the meat with little else. We also ordered a small order of fries with cheese-thing half circles of fried potatoes with some interesting cheese over the top like nachos-good.
There were a lot of other appetizing items coming from the small kitchen like charcuterie trays and small empanada-like items that looked good too.
Take a flyer when in Bosa and give this place a try. Lunch was really reasonable-about 50€ for 4 people. read more
