I haven't always been a fan of the dentist. My anxiety started at a young age. Yet, Dr Carl and staff welcomed my family and calmed my anxieties. Dr Carl Jr connected with my kids through conversations that consisted of concerts, etc. Posted around the office are pictures of his family and his wife's art. I've recommended this office to others quite often. Years passed and my children have moved on. Life is full of twists and turns. Some friendly faces have gone from the office only to welcome new faces who made the experience just as comfortable. My own life has changed as well as so has everyone elses. Understandable. I'm in management in retail. I've been in the industry for 40 years. I know how important good customer service is in all industries. I know it isn't always easy, but good customer service is a requirement. I recently called the office to make an appointment. It wasn't a routine visit. I had an uncomfortable issue that needed attention within the week. I was refused an appointment because I had an outstanding balance of $50.00. Due to a cancelled appointment that was not canceled within 24 hours. I recall that phone call. I tried twice to cancel the appointment. Their phone kept breaking up. I know this because I immediately called a family member just to verify my connection. I offered to pay the fee when I walked into the office for my appointment. I was denied an appointment until I paid the fee. I was willing to pay the fee over the phone. But I had one question. Why $50.00?? She said it was because in the past 3 years I canceled 3 times. Her delivery was not professional AT ALL! I've been going to that office for well over 20 years. I'm sure it's a lot longer than that. My kids are 37, 35 and 31. As a result of her UNPROFESSIONAL DELIVERY I reacted and told her I'd find another dentist. It's not that I didn't want to pay the $50.00. I had no problem paying it over the phone. It was her UNPROFESSIONAL MANNERISM that is making me look elsewhere for service. I'd like to thank Dr Carl and Staff for going above and beyond! The professionalism, the caring, the concern, the fun conversations, the great impression left on my family..... I wish you and your family all the best! God Bless. And Pam, I hope you have a better day.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE FOR ANYTHING REQUIRING PAIN CONTROL…read more.. My daughter had a big cavity on a molar. My family dentist suggested we see a pediatric dentist for the filling because they're faster with the kids, and he suggested Dr. Katie's office. We went in on Friday 9/19/25. Everything up to the drilling went pretty smoothly, but about 30 seconds into drilling my daughter started shrieking in pain, verbalizing that she was in excruciating pain, writhing and kicking in the chair, ripping off the nitrous mask, begging for mommy to save her, etc. I asked Dr. Katie to stop MULTIPLE times before she finally stopped and her assistants let go of my poor daughter and allowed me to calm her down a bit. My daughter again explained to the doctor that she is experiencing extreme pain over and over. I explained to Dr. Katie that I have an extremely high tolerance for and type of numbing or anesthesia and maybe my daughter does too, can we please give her more lidocaine? She acted completely annoyed and responded with, "she is DEFINITELY numb but if it makes you feel better we can give her more". She said my daughter was only freaking out "because of the vibration of the drill". She stated both of those things twice more before I had to say for a third time that in order to proceed my daughter needed more medication. She didn't even give the lidocaine time to kick in after giving it before insisting on continuing to drill as she "only had one small spot left to do" which was also a lie, she drilled for another 2 minutes while my daughter was held down and screaming before stating that she was done. I have only had one cavity in my life, as an adult, and wasn't sure if this was a normal occurrence for a child this age. After asking on a Delaware Moms group on Facebook, it appears what she experienced is not normal AT ALL and that Dr. Katie has done this to other children. She should have felt no pain at all. What I do know for certain as a nurse who works in the operating setting is what sufficient pain control looks like, and what she gave my daughter was trauma- no compassion and certainly not adequate pain control. A pediatric dentist is trained to perform these procedures WITHOUT causing lifetime trauma and Dr. Katie certainly did not provide any of those things. My daughter has repeatedly verbalized to me in the 18 hours since we left the office how much pain she was experiencing and that it was not just the vibration. I know as her mama that she knows the difference between pain and vibration. I have been up all night long in over this entire situation, I can't stop picturing what happened to my poor child. I dislike leaving bad reviews but I don't ever want another child to have an experience like my daughter did. I'm not sure we will ever get her back in a dental office without absolute distress and PTSD.

She previously had to be placed under general anesthesia and intubated in the hospital setting to have 4 crowns placed. When she needed a tooth pulled that abscessed after trauma, our gen dmd recommended finding someone nitrous-capable because her anxiety and breakdowns prevented even the simplest routine care. We heard of Dr Rob via word of mouth and I made the appointment. He was amazing. This man just knows how to talk to children, the type with a natural talent. Within three seconds of walking into the room he established a report with my child and she trusted him... I mean from tears to smiles within moments. I was so relieved. I'm pretty sure he would have been successful even without the nitrous. In any which case, she left so happy. When she required yet another appointment to replace one of the crowns previously placed under GA, she walked right into his office with no hesitation. It was, again, a wonderfully positive experience for her. His office is the only healthcare setting she doesn't get nervous in. He's also fairly easy to get an appointment with. Typically they'd schedule me pretty far out and I would ask to call if there were any sooner availability. To my shock, this office actually does call when there's cancellations! Both times, I received a call back and was seen within the week. So don't be deterred if you get scheduled out. Just make the appointment and wait for the call.

My mentally-challenged cousin was a patient of Dr. Dale Collins for over 30 years. When Dr. Dale…read moreretired, he had my cousin seen by his son, Dr. Rob, knowing that he would transfer his care to him. Recently, when I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Rob, since Dr. Dale had retired, I was told - again after a 30-year history - that I would need to find him another dentist, that Dr. Rob only does "pediatric" dentistry. Now, try to find a dentist for a 70-year-old mentally-challenged man who has known the Collins practice for that long. I could not begin to completely convey my disappointment and astonishment that this "professional," Dr. Rob, has proven himself to be. His father must hang his head in shame.
