We were again, the only ones in there. My 18 month old was playing with the play food "outside of the play kitchen", and I was told that the play food needs to stay in the play kitchen. Ok, no problem. The entire time that we were there, the owner, was pretty much following behind our children, and picking up/organizing toys, AS THEY WERE PLAYING WITH THEM. Let the kids PLAY. No creative play allowed here! Seriously though, why are you even in the room?? It was more than uncomfortable at this point. The excessive rules make it extremely difficult for a child to enjoy themselves here. And that makes for a rough time for mom, which makes for an awful time for all involved. Anyway, this is where it gets good... I had left my sandals on, and didn't even realize until we were almost ready to leave. I have an 18 month and a 4 year old -- I was obviously preoccupied with my kids, the last thing on my mind was taking my sandals off. I understand and respect the policy of no shoes for cleanliness 100%. The owner, was giving a tour to a mom wanting to rent the space for a party. He stopped mid-tour, and very aggressively yelled (yes. he definitely yelled) "ARE THOSE YOUR OUTSIDE SHOES?" ... In shock, I apologized and said I would take them off, although I would be barefoot. He said "NO. YOU NEED SOCKS." I said well, we will be leaving now, no problem. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to "at the very least, take your sandals off to walk out", which I did. THEN...he went around the entire establishment SLAMMING toys and objects while putting them away. This went on for a good 10 minutes. Talk about not feeling safe while out with your children. At this point, I'm hurrying my kids up, but of course one needs a diaper and the other has to use the potty. Longest 10 minutes ever, I have never wanted to run out of somewhere quicker. I will never recommend this establishment, and will never return to this establishment, because I was not only blatantly disrespected for an honest mistake, but our entire party felt as if we were an inconvenience the entire time we were there. Just like several other reviews on Google and yelp... this man clearly does not respect women or children, which is his entire clientele. Moral of the story - Ran by a complete psychopath. Don't know why I never tried checking in on Yelp, but now that I have, I see that it's not even on the map! Tucked away behind the Red Oaks Youth Soccer Complex, the entrance to the parking lot is off of Dartmouth Street which is accessed by either John R (to the east) or 12 Mile Rd. (to the south). At the corner of John R and 12 Mi is a large plaza with a Lowe's and the new BJ's Wholesale Club. This park is located north of BJ's. The Soccer Complex is visible from John R, but the playground isn't. Being primarily a soccer complex, there is lots (and I mean plenty!) of free parking. The complex is open to the public for all to enjoy; however, priority does go to scheduled matches. There is a snack bar, but that's only open when there are scheduled events. On the backside of the snack bar is a small sheltered pavilion overlooking the playground. From the parking lot, the playground does not appear to be very large; however, it you take a walk through it, it's bigger than it appears from your car. There is also an area for athletes to warm up or train (pull ups, inclined sit ups or push ups). The park also has all the elements of a typical playground; swings, slides, monkey bars, hanging wheels (roundabouts, not merry-go-rounds), rope cargo net, balance chain and bongo bridge climbers, and the list goes on. This park is rated for kids 5-12 years old, but there is a small play structure suitable for those under 5 (see pics). The playground is never busy (at least not when we come), probably because not many are aware of it, and I really think it's one of the better ones in Madison Heights. The venue is nice and compact. Parking is literally steps away, and there's a sheltered pavilion for parents to sit and watch over their kids. If you have young'uns and you're in the area, you need to check it out! 5 stars. I decided to check it out today with all 3 of my kids and I'm very glad i did. Checking in was easy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There are several different stations and play areas set up in a large space but luckily you can see pretty much everything around you if your kids decide to head in different directions like mine did lol they really enjoyed the large bounce house, bubble machine, chalk area, swings, and reading area. There is also a climbing wall and computer area. They have a hair salon on site which is very cool and convenient but it was not open when we arrived. I have heard they do a great job with the kids though. It is $7 per child and $3 per adult for admission but you can get an unlimited membership for $45 a month which includes 1 haircut and a pizza dinner every month as well. Very good deal. Just east of Van Dyke, Grant Park's footprint is bounded by Nancy Ave to the north, Hanh Ave to the south, Deshon St. to the west, and Grant Park to the east. There are two small parking lots, one off Nancy, and one off Hanh. Every time I bring my kids here there are plenty of people enjoying the public space, yet I never have a problem finding a parking spot. This tells me that many are locals, which is great to see that the city's money is well used. The park is not huge, but they make excellent use of their real estate. Amenities include 2 full size basketball courts, 3 tennis courts, two beach volleyball courts, and two playgrounds; one for the big kids, and one for the kiddies. There are also two large pavilions, one by each parking lot, and the green scape is dotted with mature trees, providing green canopies for those who prefer the shade. A walking path winds through the park, and there are a couple of swing benches by the larger playground. There is even a book house where you're welcome to take a book or leave one. The centerpiece of the playground is the large tubular slide. A rare three storey tube slide, which is the primary reason why we come; that and the rare playground roundabout. There is also a Wendy's within walking distance on Van Dyke for those hot days or when you're craving a frosty. All in all, don't let this mature park fool you. It packs plenty for all ages in a small footprint and would serve any community well. Whether you're looking to get active; improve your skills at Basketball, Volleyball, or Tennis; or simply looking for a relaxing day at the park, Grant Pack can accommodate. We decided to come visit the Nature Center. It was actually closed when we arrived because a few…read moremonths out of the year it opens 12pm. I suggest calling the day before to check the hours before coming. We tried to walk the trail while waiting and it was closed due to flooding in the clinton river. We saw that the beginning of the trail had a massive puddle and the grass was flooded too. We would love to come back to check that out. We went inside at 12pm. One staff member was very nice and opened the door. We saw some turtles on the pathway. We went inside and saw a giant tank. There was fish, turtles, snakes, and more. There was a little play area as well with a race track, books, bones, and toys. My kids had a lot of fun running around and looking at the different tanks. They had a cute little seed station too which I thought was awesome. They had some interactive areas, one where it tells you to count the rings of wood and another to guess the wood type and smell of the item. I think this is perfect for young toddlers. I do believe older kids would love it as well. We will definitely be back with the kids and check out the trail.

The path is a very nice, leisurely walk with plenty of trees and plants and nature to discover. It also has a couple of bridges to walk over and benches to sit on along the way as you traverse through. There's a nice covered area with benches to sit and relax as you're enjoying the scenery surrounding you on the path. I thought the playgrounds were pretty cool. I love the soft, cushiony surface that the kids can run and play on. Parents don't have to worry about scrapes and bruises! The building for the restrooms looks nice, although I didn't venture inside to see what they're like. There's a small picnic pavilion that families and couples and friends can enjoy. Oh, and they have cool looking bike racks to lock your bike up if you choose! All in all a very nice gem to visit.
