Cupcake display - blue champagne (perfection) and bananas foster (cake great, icing whipped )
Jenn G.

This place is super cute, staffed well and always friendly. Their cakes taste great and they have a bazillion flavors you can order from but I will never understand why they use basic whipped cream frosting - it really takes away from the taste and presentation of their cakes/cupcakes. When we ordered ahead we always ask for buttercream (which is an up charge of 0.50 or $1 depending on cupcakes - and PER cupcake) but honestly without the tastier icing I would not look forward to the cupcake without it. The baby shower we had there for my work peeps was great - remember ordered ahead for the buttercream - but only one flavor had been given the requested icing...the other was whipped cream - that one we had a bunch of left overs on - the blue champagne ZERO leftovers...icing speaks volumes! for me the taste of a cake of cup is all about the icing - it starts and finishes your taste experience.

It was like this when I got it.. I'm sure they wouldn't let this happen for a catered occasion.

The three star rating is quite fair as service is very sweet and warm, and cupcakes are okay/good. Having gone to a few famed cupcake establishments at the prime of the great cupcake craze, if i must be honest, I'll have to say that baby cake's selection today was rather limited and uninspired. Where were the pretty little cupcakes pictured in previous yelp posts? Where's the whimsy? I picked out a red velvet today which was moist and good, not bad, but not all that special in cake or icing. For two dollars a pop, the icing could have used a bit more effort in piping. Looking forward to give them another try if other reviews show that this was just a weird day.

I just so happened to be in the area and stopped to try their cupcakes. I got two... the brides and…read morea raspberry cheesecake. I was pretty disappointed in the frosting on both. It doesn't taste like a buttercream. It taste like overly sweet powdered sugar. The cake on both had a nice texture The black raspberry cheesecake had no cheesecake flavor whatsoever. Deceptive.....everything may look gorgeous, but sickeningly sweet. Maybe it was just me I thought,…read moreuntil I started seeing cake slices in the trash . Add to that the size cake they say feeds 30 people caused us to have to buy a grocery store cake just to have enough. They should clarify that. I prefer guests to have more than a shaving size slice of cake. The grocery store cake actually was eaten quicker. Also the writing on the cake was embarrassing to present. It was not professional at all, I was shocked and pink and blue icing for a man? Nope, don't trust their judgement . Shameful for the cost . All in all, approx $180 for a cake that didn't 't go around and 2 dozen cup cakes. The cupcakes were pretty enough to look at , but also sickeningly sweet. (All the flavors of the day. ) Suffice it to say, the amount left over and put in the trash by the guests said everything to me. I expected way more . Never again ! We've given them two tries. They failed big time!

I came to try a pizza bagel which I learned they recently stopped serving because the health inspector said they needed to be in a cooler, which this place does not have. In the brief time that I was there, several people came in for these also and were disappointed to hear the news. I ended up getting a cinnamon roll, nut roll, and brownie. The cinnamon roll was delish. I gave the other two to friends and they enjoyed them. Service was okay. The woman was slightly impatient as I asked questions. She answered them, but seemed a little annoyed. I just wasn't as familiar with the items because it seemed like there were all variations of the same things maybe with different nuts. Their shelves weren't super full by the time I got there and I am curious to try other items from them. I see that they sell cookies and pastries at a local grocery store chain, Marc's. Also appreciated that they took tap to pay, which is uncommon in such an old school place. Just gotta spend over $5.
