Living in the foothills west of Denver, I wanted a truck load of quality topsoil to topdress my lawn. I called Babcocks on two separate occasions to confirm they had what I was looking for, topsoil rich in organic material to supplement my somewhat thin mountain soil. I placed the $700 order and hired my local dump truck driver, who made the drive out and back. When he returned, I had 16 yards of worthless sandy fill dirt with next to no organic material. We specifically asked questions about charges for mileage and days, and we're told that the rental manager would be leaving extra early and just leave the keys in the lock box. When we returned the keys, we were charged over $100 more by U-Haul and called to express our concern. In addition, the lockbox freezes and we could not be opened and after 30 minutes of hitting it with a rock, we finally got it opened . After being told that we were wrong about everything repeatedly by Babcock's. We called U-Haul directly, after 50 minutes on hold at U-Haul waiting for a response. They hung up on us.... read more

I totally concur with Kate G. I was fool for not running away when they demanded 15% up front for supplies to be ordered before even putting us on the schedule. Needed another 50% 10 days before start. Then they spread wildflower mix instead of grass without notice, charged for things they didn't do, refused to refund for services not rendered and are incredibly rude after the contract is signed. I'm pretty sure our hydro-seed grass was never purchased and we got leftover from someone else's "wildflower mix" job. This is what happens when you feel you need to get work done and have no time to shop around. Stupid me! Unfortunately it seems none of these reviews were online last August when we were looking for them - we had only the hand-picked customer references. Can't get a call back from these people no matter what I do. MAybe suing them will get a response. read more

Cindy & Darwin Rock!!! In October 2018 we had a big problem with our waterfall! Our bill was $1,000 for 1 month of water service. After trying to fix the problem ourselves 2 different times we were desperate... We went to the home & garden show trying to find someone to repair our waterfall and after dealing with 3 different vendors that said they could help not 1 of them showed up to our house to diagnose the problem. By accident we ended up at Babcock's Garden & Feed to buy some food for our pet pig. When you park in their lot they have 3 waterfall features that are amazing with real coy fish & lily pads! We spoke to Cindy about our problem and she got on it right away with the waterfall master Darwin. He was at our house within the hour (full disclosure: we live 3 minutes away from them). Darwin started giving us advice on things we could check so we could fix the problem ourselves. That's very rare... However we had already tried twice to fix it and had performed the tests and procedures he was recommending. He scheduled a time with my wife to diagnose the problem (which they did for free) the following week. Unfortunately we had to redo the entire waterfall and it was a very large job, but they were great explaining what the problems were. It turns out it wasn't built correctly from the beginning. Darwin is a Certified Waterfall Designer and he explained step by step what needed to be done and why. We had differences in opinion several times and I wanted certain things to be done differently than his suggestions, but he worked with me to ensure that the waterfall functioned as an ecosystem and minimized the water consumption due to evaporation using his expertise. When all was said and done he was right, the waterfall is beautiful and our water bill is under $200 again. I would use them in the future and recommend them to anyone that needs water features, landscape work. I didn't have the same experience the others commented about with the lack of communication... After you sign a project contract the owners turn unprofessional in that phone calls and emails are rarely responded to and when they are, questions are left unanswered. They are vague about project start times and will leave you hanging for weeks with no communication. As if that's not enough... they will not refund money for services that aren't completed even though the services are in the project contract. read more

Great customer service! Went in to get some bulk compost and was pleasantly surprised by the knowledge and help we received. Picked up a few plants that we couldn't find anywhere else. Nice atmosphere too. read more

Run away! Don't waste your time. The owner came out in early May for a consultation. He seemed to have great ideas and said they were scheduling jobs for late June/early July. He was going to do the drawings and a 3D view as well. We started calling back in June. Each time a nice person took our information and said that they would get with the owner's wife and she would call us back with a status. We called 5 or 6 times and today we went in. The owner was there. We started in the office, letting them know we needed a status. While they were nice, we weren't getting anywhere. When I went outside to speak with the owner, I explained that he had come out to our house. He immediately interrupted us and said that he wasn't scheduling work for the rest of the year or into next year and that the woman standing beside him had told us that twice. I was flabergasted! I told him that each time we called, we were told someone would call us back and no one ever had. He replied that she had talked with us twice. I told him that what he was saying was untrue. Why would we keep calling? He was incredibly rude. I would never consider doing business with them and I will advise anyone who asks not to waste their time. read more
