Lovely people work here. Went for our fourth dinner here on a Friday night. The previous times was usually on a slower week night so this was a first going on a busier night. Plenty of customers in the restaurant when we came in. To tell the whole story of the most recent visit I need to give some background. It was pretty obvious that our usual servers were not working and they seemed to be one server short. The owner and family had gone on vacation so that explained that difference in staff and apparently one server called out sick. Overall the food was as good as always: hummus with chicken, hot bread, Kibbeh, chicken tawook. The first plate of Kibbeh were cold in the middle so they brought a new plate which were hot. First the server brought me some kind of salad and I let her know that I had not ordered a salad but the chicken tawook plate. It came eventually and was just as delicious as always. We enjoyed the food very much. Because it took a while for us to get our check the man in charge gave me a card good for one free entree. As long as the staff take care of you when something doesn't go 100% right I will keep coming back. read more

I took some of my Yelp Elite friends to Baba Ali for lunch last Sunday and they all loved it! We also went next door to visit the First Choice Market... PITA BREAD WITH HUMMUS & BEEF: 10/10 Plots bread was so soft and fluffy. We had to buy more pita bread to take home. The hummus also has chickpeas in the center which was a nice surprise... EMPANADAS: 10/10 It was so good that we finished it right when it came out... CHEF MIXED COMBO PLATE: 10/10 I love the variety of meats such as chicken and beef. It's shareable for up to 4 people. The grilled tomatoes were my favorite... DESSERT: 10/10 We had to go next door to the market to find some more of these delicious desserts! SERVICE: Excellent and friendly. I read reviews and heard about this new restaurant from friends so we decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed! The food was hot, moist and delicious. Both I ans my friend got the Chicken Tawoik. I asked if I could have a salad instead of biryani and they were very accommodating. We were surprised to receive a wonderful, free appetizer trio of baba ganoush, turkiya and Jerusalem salad with pita bread. The appetizers were delicious. The interior was clean and could accommodate largeer parties. I am excited to go back and try more of the menu items. I think Baba Ali has just replaced my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in the area. read more

Great restaurant located where the old J. Carver used to be. They did a nice job of redecorating and very upscale with lots of light. My pick off the menu was humus with a chicken protein. The humus was very smooth with a good flavor. Accompanied by pita bread. It was a meal in its self. Definitely get the humus. Also had the lentil soup. The lentils must have been pureed since it was very smooth soup. No whole lentils. It was piping hot and took a while to cool down. My wife had chicken and rice. Both were very tender and not overcooked. It was accompanied by some vegetables. Food pricing was reasonable and the food was delicious. We'll definitely be back. read more

The service is always friendly and welcoming, and the ambiance is fantastic. It's colorful, inviting, and makes for a great dining experience. My go to order is the hummus with beef, which is absolutely delicious. I've also had the combo plate with lamb, beef, and chicken, and every single meat was flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. I love all the sauces that come with the meal, especially the garlic sauce, tzatziki, and hot sauce. They take everything to the next level. I've also tried the baba ghanoush, and it was just as amazing. Honestly, everything here slaps. The food is consistently fresh and packed with flavor. Between the incredible food, the beautiful atmosphere, and the excellent service, Baba Ali Grill has become one of my favorite Mediterranean restaurants in the area. I highly recommend it. Baba Ali Grill is a new Mediterranean restaurant in Murrieta. The food was fresh and flavorful. Food: hummus with chicken was almost a meal by itself--delicious hummus topped with chicken shawarma. Chicken tawook was tender and juicy and came with fluffy rice. Lentil soup was piping hot and just a tad spicy. It use to be J Carver for years. The place is revamped with lots of windows and lighting. What a difference! It's bright and inviting. There are many booths, long tables for bigger groups, and a few chairs for bar seating. I am happy to have another Mediterranean option to choose from when dining in the Temecula/Murrieta area. read more

Wonderful lunch! I was starving and wanted somewhere new. My friend told me about this place and I was excited. First the hummus with meat was the best I've had in this area. The hummus was delicious and smooth and they even gave us extra bread to take it home. For our entrees we ordered the beef shawarma and cubed fillet mignon. Me and my girlfriend were craving something fresh with hummus and saw this place on Google. Looks like a new restaurant so we gave it a chance. It was a great choice. The food, atmosphere and staff were amazing. I highly recommend giving this spot a try. We had a combo plate for two and the humus with meat. Wow. Every bite was absolute delicious. I don't know what was better, the chicken or the steak. Mind blowing. I'm coming back again later this week to try something different. The rice was mixed with almonds and gave a little crunch and extra flavor. The steak and chicken was cooked to perfection and the hummus went down smooth and it was delicious. The atmosphere was really nice. It's a great place to take someone out on a date who loves Mediterranean food. It took a few minutes to get a table yesterday evening but we were greeted with smiles. Tried this new Mediterranean restaurant in our area. Looked at the Yelp reviews and decided to take a chance by eating inside the restaurant. Restaurant was beautiful inside according to a Yelp review it used to be a different restaurant so that would make sense. We were met almost immediately once we walked in. They sat us at a booth and gave us a little bit of time to look at the menu. Asked our server what they recommended since this was our first time here. Settled on the half a chicken platter that came with rycus, hummus and garlic paste. Ordered appetizers- a plate of pickles and turnips, hummus, and a dip that was made of garlic and potatoes. All the food was very yummy and tasty. We were told that the chicken platter would take 30 minutes. So they brought out the appetizers first for us to enjoy, and when I questioned what they had been bringing to other tables which looked like a little sampler platter, our server was kind enough to give us one as well- she informed me that if you don't order an appetizer, they provide you with this little sampler of baba ghanoush, olives, pickled peppers, and a Persian tomato salsa. All the food was really first rate. Exactly 30 minutes later we received this amazingly beautiful chicken platter with basmati rice, a huge portion -equal to the appetizer size- of hummus and a lovely side of garlic paste to go with it When we originally ordered, we asked how big the side of hummus was and was told that it was a relatively smaller size definitely smaller than the appetizer. That was not the case and our recommendation for anyone next time is to not order an appetizer of hummus, but to just use the side of the hummus that came with it. The portions were generous. The service changes if you're muslim or not. There is no complimentary bread or appetizers for non muslims or even refills. The food is left overs, hard chicken and the wraps have old tortillas. I have been wanting to try this restaurant ever since they opened and I was so excited to finally have the opportunity to do so! From the beautiful decor to the friendly, thoughtful service to the incredible food, Baba Ali Grill was a 10/10. We got to try their pita and three different dips (I believe one was babaganoush, another was a tomato chutney type of dip, and another was a salad) and all three were delicious. For our mains, my mom and I shared the mixed grill platter for two (which comes with grilled lamb, beef and chicken kebabs, as well as biryani rice, grilled tomato and onions) while my brother ordered the same but for one person. The portions were generous and the meats were all incredibly flavorful and tender. The lamb was my favorite, it was so juicy and perfectly seasoned. The chicken was very tender too, which was a pleasant surprise since grilled chicken can sometimes be hit or miss and end up being dry. This one definitely wasn't. The rice was fluffy, buttery and the perfect accompaniment to the kebabs. I absolutely loved the food here and cannot wait to be back! read more

Lady at the market next door, recommended I tried the Mansaf, since they don't make it often but they are today and it's not on the menu, but they said it wouldn't be ready till later. Horrible experience and extremely unprofessional. This is our third visit, and once again they are out of the items we came specifically to order. This has happened every single time we've been here. The service is just as disappointing. The staff seems completely unorganized, the customer service is terrible, and there appears to be very little concern for customers or their experience. We have now been here three times, and each visit has been frustrating enough that we've considered simply walking out. If you consistently don't have menu items available, at least communicate that properly and treat your customers with some professionalism. Very disappointing experience at Baba Ali Grill. Wow! Where do I start? From the moment my wife and I walked into the restaurant tonight, we were immediately greeted by Lina. She was warm and welcoming and allowed us to choose a table (versus a booth). We sat down and looked over the menu. We already knew we wanted the Hummus with Meat to start. Our server was Ranzy and when she greeted us, we felt like family. After brief introductions, we decided to start with the Hummus with Beef and an order of their Falafel. These items arrived quickly and looked perfect! These were accompanied with a basket of fresh pita bread. Soft and delicious, the pita was an excellent vessel to transport the Hummus and beef to our mouths Ranzy brought us a complimentary order of their fattoush! This was a highlight because of the bright fresh taste from the first bite to the last!! Fresh garden salad, tomato, scallion, cucumber, radish, sumac, lemon, pomegranate molasses. My wife ordered a mint yogurt drink. Usually we call it "doog" but Ranzy informed us that the Iraqis call it "shanina" or "aryan". It's her favorite! I ordered a Rieme French blood orange sparkling water. Tasty! For our entree, we ordered a Chef's Mixed Grill Combo Plate (for two)! So amazing! Arrived on a huge platter with Biriyani rice, grilled vegetables, and three skewers of meat: lamb, beef & chicken kebabs. There was so much food leftover! Portions are generous and tasted amazing! First time here. We went with another couple to try it out and we were extremely pleased. Ordered the hummus with Chicken Shwarma. The hummus was smooth, creamy and flavorful, and the chicken had a wonderful taste as well. The falafel salad was excellent as well. We also had an order of babaghanaoush which had a great smokey flavor. We usually go to another Mediterranean restaurant in Temecula, but this maybe our new go to. Last night was our first time dining at Baba Ali. I love Mediterranean food, so I was so excited to have a new place in town. The restaurant is where J. Carter's Tavern Grill use to be. It pretty much looks the same inside, aside from a few minor decorative items. When we arrived, we stood there for several minutes before being acknowledged. We were directed to a table, but we asked if there was a booth available. We were told that it had to be cleaned, but they would move us there once it was ready. That took 10 minutes. Service was very slow. After we were moved and had placed our order, it took over 20 minutes to get our food. We had been there about 35 minutes before we were served. I ordered the chicken tawook, Our server was friendly, but seemed to have no urgency in getting to us. As far as the food, my chicken was very good, but they give you a ton of rice, which I don't mind, except that it was pretty bland. The best part of the meal, in my opinion, was the hummus. I think this place has potential to be good, but I think I will wait a while in hopes that they work out the kinks before I give them another try. read more

Phenomenal food and service! We came in on a Saturday around 4:00 and they had a huge party. Our waitress let us know right away that it would be a slightly longer wait and brought us out hummus and pita. (Both delicious) The chicken kabob is perfectly cooked, seasoned well and still juicy. Their rice is simple and delicious. We always get a side of sumac and add extra. The Kebob sandwich was delicious with the garlic paste and hot sauce. Get yourself one of their hot teas after your meal, you won't regret it. They have a grocery store next door with a butcher and a bakery. Prices are more than reasonable. This was our first visit to this restaurant. When we walked in we were greeted by a gentleman and seated by him. A waitress brought menus and asked what we wanted to drink. She returned with the drinks and we thought she was coming back to get our order. Instead she was talking and prepping silverware with two other girls. We were being totally ignored and waited 25 minutes and finally I had to call out that we were ready to order. She came over and took our order. The food finally came and it was amazing!
