This is a fun store if you want the boutique experience of several local and imported goods…read more Everything is set up nicely in small rooms so that the flow and layout isn't exactly cluttered, but at times I felt myself felling a little too claustrophobic and slightly overwhelmed at all of the options... (This may not be a bad thing for some so don't get me wrong.) If you're looking for special something that represents Charleston -- look no further than Modern Manor! There are some items that are right on point for what they should cost. However, I did find many things slightly over-priced. Again, this is a place where MANY local artisans can display their goods, so you've got an eclectic experience awaiting you as soon as you walk through the doors! There's a central checkout right at front and center-- I think I noticed two cashiers up front to check you out! Had I not have tried to take in the entire store I will say if you had a question at any point during your perusal, you might be out of luck to find someone. That being said-- I absolutely LOVE that they have included a local craft coffee shop in Harlow & Pearl to add to the charm of the converted barn market for a Country Chic feel. Love that you can grab a coffee and shop at your leisure without someone looking over your shoulder so you're able to experience everything at your own pace. It's a nice touch. The nature of the size of the place, lends it to being a nice space to spend a lazy afternoon, especially in the rain, to look for the perfect gift for that special someone to suit whatever specific occasion you might need to serve!

Their booths are crowded with items and there is absolutely no room to get around. You can only see less than HALF of the booths if you are in a wheelchair. I really wanted to like this place, and all things considered-if you're an abled body human, this is a wonderful store. Anything else and I wouldn't bother coming. It is anything but accessible. The photo below shows a pole blocking one of the doors, making in inaccessible.

GDC Home - Saggy stretched out straps allowing chairs to sag 5"

After flipping them over I saw the straps used underneath were elastic, stretched and sagging. I contacted GDC and they stated that the chairs were from Universal and out of warranty. I asked what the warranty was and the very annoyed employee (Kristen or Christine) said she would find out if that's what I wanted her to do (never heard from again) and that the store would give me their wholesale price on another purchase. She said that would be 30% off retail. After years working in retail I seriously doubt GDC only marks up 30%. And why oh why would I spend more money and not expect the same poor quality? They never offered to have them repaired by an upholsterer. Having no real options, I spent my Sunday with my trusty staple gun repairing all four chairs hoping to get another year or two out of them. Note to customer, when spending $595/chair at GDC realize it only has a one year warranty (found that out on the internet) and the quality is subpar at best. Oh, and before I addressed the sagging issue, one chair's caster spilled ball bearing onto my wood floor leaving scratches where they caught under the wheels. GDC DID send me 4 new casters. The point being the quality might just be rivaled by a big box store with little responsibility falling on GDC. Needless to say I will not be back and will share my experience with others.
